I use a 4G Galaxy Nexus to broadcast a private WPA2 network. The 4G signal is always strong, and I've verified that the internet is active on the broadcasting device, and that other non-Apple devices maintain a solid connection. However my macbook pro does not lose the network connection, the internet stops working only on the macbook pro and I must "turn Wifi Off" and back on using the top right menu icon in order for the internet connection to resume working on the laptop. It will stop working every 5-10 minutes.

I'm trying to share the internet connection on my windows vista partition. Until now it has been fine, but all of a sudden, yesterday, it stopped working. iPhone and mac both show self assigned IPs. I tried resetting and setting up a new ad hoc network and checked settings to make sure internet sharing was enabled, but still the mac and iPhone are not given their own IPs.

The ethernet connection has stopped working on my MacBook. It has worked previously but now says no cable is installed. I have looked at the port and no damage is noted. I tried a known good cable from another system to no avail
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo my 6 month old Unibody has had an issue for a while that it drops the internet connection, though keeping the network/WiFi connection. It started out just on campus where there is a campus wide SSID that is unencrypted, though requires a login to start browsing. A restart of the computer fixes this issue, though it always repeats itself (usually after 30-45 minutes of browsing, no downloading). Lately, the issue has been getting worse. It is now dropping the connection on other APs, and even stops the Airport card altogether (KisMac can't even scan). I had a backlight bleeding issue fixed by Apple. Is this connected? I know the airport card is in the screen, so maybe they didn't fix it well.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a solution to my WiFi internet connection. I haven't used my MacBook Pro laptop in the last week or so - which means there is no way I have done any changes to the network configuration. However when I now try to connect to the internet via a Hub - which is previously set up on the macbook and worked no problem - is now not working at all.

There's something wrong with the Wifi connectivity on my Macbook Pro. Every few minutes, I lose connection to the internet even though it says I'm still connected to my network. I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on for it to start working again. It only works for a few minutes and sometimes hours, but then I have to turn Wi-Fi off and then on agian. It only happens on my MacBook.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few hours ago the wireless internet on my laptop stopped working. I have turned it off and on again, i have turned our wireless internet off and on again. I have also tested the internet on the other computers in the house (macs and pcs) and it works on all of them. I thought it might somehow be the distance so i've tried using it next to the internet box, still to no avail.
I took the laptop downstairs, came back up and when i sat back down, the internet stopped working on it. I didn't bash it about and i'm always very careful when carrying it around the place. Everything else still works on it.
It is displaying the wifi in the top right with the bars dimmed out and an exlamation mark in front. When i click it, under 'AirPort: On' it says 'Alert: No Internet Connection' and next to it is a triangle with an exclamation mark inside.
Iimac uses airport extreme. For no known reason stopped connection to Internet. Reset. Still no connection with saying cannot connect because it timed out. When I connect extreme directly to the iMac I can get Internet. If I disconnect Internet does not work

I've just installed XP on my Macbook Pro (No BootCamp, just Windows XP), and I'm currently trying to figure out how to set up my network connection. I'm assuming that I will need to install drivers?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had no trouble getting on line until last week when a message came on that
IP address 192.168.0.139
was in use by

DHCP Server 192.168.0.1Â
Since that time, no matter if I plug it into one router or the other (I use a router in my office to share the one ethernet cable that comes down the hall) it claims that the ethernet is working and it knows that it is connected to the Internet, but it cannot access the Internet. IT seems to be stuck in a cycle of navel-gazing, constantly focused on its own ethernet IP address.
All I know how to do is operate the thing; we have no IT person here. A visitor set up our network for us a few years ago. Only the iMac has this problem; my PC laptops go online just fine. But all my work is on the iMac.
I have been using both messenger 7.0.2 and the beta version of 8 for some time. I have recently upgraded both to Snow Leopard, and changed my ISP to TPG (Australian ISP). Ever since, when I attempt to connect to messenger (either version) it says the connection failed as I am not connected to the internet. My internet works fine so I am at a loss as to what the problem is.

I have a MPB early 2011 and I have talktalk internet. I have absolutely no problems with my wifi up until the last week. I can use the internet perfectly fine downstairs when I am in the living room (where the router is located) as I am typing this using it, however when I go upstairs i.e. to the bedroom directly above where the router is situated I am still connected to the internet at the wifi symbol is black however i lose internet connection and I am not able to use the internet at all. This is a new issue as before, I was able to use my MPB anywhere in the house without any problems. Â
I don't believe it's the router as my iPhone connects fine upstairs and we also have a MPB late 2013 and that works perfectly fine upstairs. Â

My daughter has a MacBook with OS X 10.4.11. Due to its age & configuration, the OS X can't be updated any further.
Her MacBook is networked through my iMac (OS X 10.6.4) and is setup to print via my printer.
The connection to the printer stopped working, I tried to troubleshoot it, but needed the admin password. She didn't know if she had one so I used the installation disk to change eliminate the need for one. But for some things I'm asked for the keychain password, she doesn't remember if she has one.
According to the keychain help, the keychain password should automatically be the same as the admin or login password. There isn't a login password anymore, and keychain isn't accepting a blank password,so I'm locked out of some functions requiring the keychain.
I created a new keychain, but when online, I get a lot of unverified certificate errors. I try to change them individually to accept them, but I'm asked for the keychain password. If I can access the old keychain, is there a way to copy all of its certificates to the new keychain?
I can't figure out how to change the keychain password for the old keychain as without it, I can't accept certificates even with the new keychain. I'm really stuck.
I have a macbook pro from fall of 2007. So far it has worked perfectly and I've used it with an LG full hd LCD for about 1,5 years. I use a regular DVI - HDMI cable.About a month back it suddenly stopped working. The TV just tells me "No signal".I didn't change any settings or anything. The computer still recognizes when something is plugged in as the screen flicks blue and the displays icon in the menu bar lists the TV with correct model and resolution. And if I have spaces turned on it changes from 4 to 8 "screens".
I have tried everything from rebooting the computer to resetting P-RAM.
I got a new cable, no difference. However when I tried the TV with my friends MBP, it worked. So the problem is definetly in my computer, not in the TV or cable. My OS X is Version 10.5.8 Leopard.
I keep losing connection with my wifi home netwoek on my mac desk computer and my iphone this just started in thre last two weeks i don't know why
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter switching to a new provider and getting a new dsl modem (a fritz!box fon 7390) I tried to setup my homenetwork again. Now the weird thing is: my Mac Mini running OSX Lion Server doesn't seem to be able to connect to the internet over its ethernet port, only when using a WiFi connection...When it's connected with ethernet it can reach the dsl modem without any problems, but it can't ping/telnet or anything else through, only over WiFi... As long as I use the mini servers WiFi connection everything works fine, but that doesn't make any sense to me.I've checked the servers setting and the Fritz!box settings and I can't seem to find anything obvious. Of course I could just go on and use the WiFi connection...
ps: all the other computers can connect fine using either wifi or regular lan connection... I even tried the exact same cable with another laptop just to make sure...

I am on a Mac Mini connected to the Net via a FON wireless router and Ethernet directly to my broadband modem. I have had problems with both the modem and an Airport Extreme, which eventually died, but I am back up again with the modem via the FON router. The odd thing is that I can't get Ethernet to work over a direct connection to the modem. Diagnostics tells me that the ISP and Internet fails. I can connect to the modem over Ethernet, however, change its settings etc. in my browser. There are solutions mentioned here involving changing the etc/authorization file, but wouldn't that also affect the WiFi if that was the problem?Â
In short, Ethernet connection to modem works. WiFi connection to FON router and then to the ISP and Internet works. But the Ethernet configuration does't go that last bit, it only works locally. Using that route, I can't connect to the outside world. I have restarted the modem, the computer etc., but that should not be the problem as both works over WiFi, using the same settings for the modem. How do I best troubleshoot this? I am getting an AirPort Express, perhaps it will work better with the modem that the computer itself, but I doubt it.

Last week, my airport connection suddenly stopped working (and I mean JUST as I was working on it, it started failing). It would connect to the network fine, but it could not communicate with the router through DHCP and even with a static IP, it could not transfer any network data. I put in my brother's working airport card, and it worked, so I ordered a refurbished airport card from ifixit.com. I put that in today, and it is showing the same symptoms of my old card. I don't have my brother's PowerBook to test his card again, so I don't know what to do.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having internet connection issues with my MacBook Pro 2011 - running the latest version of Lion OSX. My connection cuts out regularly (every 10 - 15 minutes) despite having a full wifi signal. It is happening on two different routers, in two different locations with two different ISP's.Â
When I run Network Diagnostics ISP is the test that fails, but after a couple of seconds diagnostics fixes it until the next 10 - 15 minutes. The only other alternative is turning wifi off and on. Both of these only last for the 10 - 15 minutes before it cuts out again.Â
It is very frustrating and research online seems to indicate it is a Lion issue. I have made an appointment with a genius, but browsing online it appears there is no solution. It is not acceptable.

Internet had been working fine until 4 weeks ago, when it cut out and has not worked since. After an excessive amount of time spent on the phone to Optus (so-called) techs, receiving a new cable modem, the internet still does not work. It is receiving all relevant info but when you open Safari it says there is no internet connection.

I just installed the wwdc Snow Leopard preview via ADC to test an ebay app I work on. Everything works fine, except for the network connections. WHile Airport can scan and pick up networks, it cannot connect to them. Ethernet is active, but it does not connect to the internet. I have send problem report to Apple, but I dont expect that it will resolve the problem soon.
