I want to know if it is possible to install windows XP or Vista over Windows 7 that has been installed via Bootcamp. I am currently using OS X Lion 10.7.3.
View 5 Repliesim having trouble installing bootcamp and drivers on vista for my macbook. i installed vista without problems but when i put my leopard disc in it doesnt not run the bootcamp installer instead it goes into a macbook air installer and asks for me to connect to a macbook air. what is wrong? i have done it before so i dont know why i cant do it now. should i do everything all over again?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a 2010 Mac Pro 2.8 quad and installed vista 64 via boot camp. It just doesn't seem to recognize any wireless connection as if the airport card isn't even installed. I checked device manager and it shows that the network controller does not have any drivers installed. I have never had any issues connecting wireless with the 2010 mac mini or previous macs.

Having a problem installing a 64bit version of Vista via bootcamp on my 2006 Mac Pro. I can partition the drive just fine, but when I go to install the software, the computer reboots and seemingly attempts to boot of of the CD. I get a black screen with the following prompt:

However I am unable to type either 1 or 2 in.
Question - how do I get started? I currently have Vista loaded on my BootCamp partition. Do I launch Vista, and run the Windows7 upgrade installation from Windows? Or do I do this from BootCamp?Note that this is an upgrade disc, not a full/initial install version.

I installed winows vista ultimate (32 bit) and play Age of the Empires iii in windows. However, the game lags, usually when there is artillery or ships. Whenever I start the game, it displays the message --- you have a 32 mb video card, the game requires 64 mb to play -- attempt to run or cancel (i do not get this message in mac os x).
I have a 2.16 core duo, 2 gb ram and an intel GMA 950 -- VRAM 64 MB shared system memory video card. I do not understand why I get this message in Windows. Is windows not detecting the video card properly?
I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
Any ideas to would i could try to do?
I was wondering if there is anyway to pretty much copy a Vista partition on a Thinkpad T500 (university Laptop) onto a bootcamp partition, I would need to clone it because my university doesn't give us install discs, they load the OS on the laptop's as a image with all the program specific software, this would help because then I can use my mac for both OSX and class work.

I have 4 options, and i should choose the last one which says bootcamp 116gb, but i cant click it since it says the disk need to have NTFS format. How can i set so that i partiton it to NTFS?

I am planning on getting the old Windows Vista Home Basic without the sp1 because it is cheaper to buy. Can I install that on the mac using bootcamp and then upgrade to sp1 after the installation?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I installed Windows Vista to run a game on here, but I got several issues. I already installed the drivers from the Snow Leopard DVD, but the problems still persist.
The issues are:
1. Sound is very very low and uneven. I have the volume all the way maxed, but the loudest it can go is less than half than the potential volume in Snow Leopard.
2. Headphones don't work. I've tried like 3 pairs of headphones and none of them work. When I plug them in, the sound still comes from the left speaker (I can barely hear the right speaker) on the laptop and not on the headphones. Also, the headphone jack is emitting a red light out of it.
3. The lights on the keyboard won't shut off. I used the F5 key to turn off the keyboard backlighting, and while it goes very dim they won't shut off.
I already tried the suggestions on this thread but none of those fixes work. I need help! Especially with the sound! Anything at all would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to install Windows on its own hard drive or with Boot Camp are we forced to install it on a partition on the startup OS X disk? I tried to install it on an empty 250GB HD with Boot Camp, but when the system restarted to install Windows, it asked me to choose a CD ROM and gave me the option of 1 or 2. When I pressed either 1 or 2 nothing happens. It remains stuck on that prompt. By the way, I only have 1 CD/DVD ROM drive in my MacPro.

I turned on the monitor and saw the login prompt for Mac OS. Any ideas on why it might be restarting? I'm guessing the computer went to sleep while I was in bed and had some issue there.

Does smcFanControl would able to control the fan at same rpm before boot up into vista? When I changed the rpm of fan to higher (3,000 rpm) under Mac OS X then boot up into Vista then it would be same rpm (3,000 rpm) what I was set or force back to default (back to 1,200 rpm)?
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2008 (the brand new) Macbook Pro 2.53 C2D and I installed vista on a partition succesffuly. But once I try to install Boot Camp drivers, it doesn't work. I open up the leopard DVD, and it starts installing all the network cards and video cards, but then it gets to "KeyAgent" and it says it failed to install because I it couldn't access startup services. I pressed ignore, then it came to "MacHal" (i think, somehting like that) and it said the same thing. I looked under my account privelges, and I'm an administrator with access to everything, so I'm not sure what's going on.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI installed Vista Business, bootcamp drivers, all necessary updates, etc. Since then, every time I reboot from Vista to Leopard, it stalls on the loading menu for 6-8 minutes, and when I finally get to the desktop the clock has been set back 7 hours. This also happens about 30% of the time when restarting from Leopard to Leopard. I spoke with Applecare, and they basically won't help me because they claim the problem is with Windows.

I have tried to install the MBA drives from the OS X install disk repeatedly, but without success. The "setup.exe" seems to be working fine, but after restart, Windows does not seem to recognize the Mac drives. Updating the drives manually did not improve the situation. Does anyone know how to install the drives correctly?

I convinced my friend to get a macbook pro since he could run windows and mac (and at the same time through vmware fusion) so he went out and got a 17" macbook pro (don't post about how he should have waited for the January update cause already told him and he didn't care). Well he bought a vista upgrade installation dvd through the university of texas and it worked fine with bootcamp.
He purchased it for $34 and had no previous version of xp or any other version of windows for that matter and the upgrade dvd worked fine with the boot camp installation. Is the upgrade version he got through ut different than the standard retail vista ultimate upgrade dvd? I have recently attempted to create a partition to install Microsoft Vista Home Premium 32Bit. The partitioning part is not a problem. I decided to use a 32 GB partition, viola it was created. So I inserted the disk and got everything to work. The installation started up. However, when it came time to selecting which drive to install Vista in I ran into some problems.
I selected the 32 GB partition that was also labeled as BOOTCAMP. However, when I selected it. It wouldn't let me go any farther. It said that it required an NTFS drive. However, when I created the partition I never had the option of selecting which type of drive I wanted. I tried creating a 35 GB partition to see if it would make any difference. But under my Get Info it still is labelling the drive as a FAT32.
How do I make it so it partitions as a NTFS?
I can not get my external monitor to hook up with my new MacBook Pro. I know how to get the windows desktop over onto the external monitor, but windows just recognizes the monitor for a moment, and then nothing. This cycles until I turn off the external monitor. I have the new MacBook Pro, with MiniDisplay port, and the monitor is hooked up with a DVI, and it is a 22" Acer.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI did the Bootcamp thing, partitioned the drive and installed Vista. Everything went well and Vista works just fine. But everytime I boot into windows, I get partition errors before it boots.
For example it says:
"Warning: Unrecognized partition table for Drive 80. Please rebuild it using a Microsoft-compatible FDISK tool (err=4)"
It will come up 3 times, and then boot into Vista. Both OSX and Vista are working fine, but something is definately wrong though since I am getting this error.
I want to make sure I'm doing this properly. I recently acquired a Macbook Pro, along with legit copy of Win Vista. So here's what I did:1. Reinstall Mac OS X from scratch, then get ALL the software updates. Perfectly clean! Then installed the additional applications from the 2nd disk (Q1: Is that second disk what is called Leopard?)2. Backed up my Mac with Time Machine to my external Seagate drive.3. Used Bootcamp to create a partition, then install Windows Vista Home Basic edition on to it, then installed the Macbook Pro drivers, then got ALL the microsoft updates (which took forever).
