ITunes :: MP3 Won't Import To Library, But Will Import Into IPhone
Apr 15, 2012I recently purchased an MP3 album from Amazon, which downloaded fine. Unlike previous times, however, the Amazon Downloader app didn't load the music into my iTunes library. I tried to manually add the album to my iTunes Library, with no luck. I was able to load the album into my iPhone Music app by dragging and dropping on my iPhone device in iTunes (after turning off iTunes Match).. If I double-click on the songs on my hard drive, they will play in iTunes, but do not import.
I am running Mac OS 10.7.3, iTunes 10.6.1 (7) and have iTunes Match active on my computer.

Feb 6, 2008I'm new with iMovie and this is all pretty damn confusing. I have a bunch of short nothing videos in my "iPhoto videos" area. but I can't seem to get to my newly added videos in iPhoto. I play them in iPhoto all the time, they're grouped by event and such but I can't for the life of me get them into the area.

Apr 22, 2009I'm in the process of making a presentation in iMovie, and I am using photos and movies from iPhoto. The pictures work just fine, but I can not get my videos to import into iMovie. I've tried restarting both iPhoto and iMovie, and I've had no luck. The files are .mov, which I know are compatible with iMovie because I've used them before. However I did a test video and it was MPEG-4, and that imported just fine into iMovie. So it appears it may be a format issue but I've used .mov in the past so that has me stumped. I could re render the video in MPEG-4, but the video was a rendering of the whole building in HD, so it took about 24 hours to render, so I don't want to do that again. If I do have to convert it, what program can I use to convert it?

Aug 12, 2007I've takes some videos with my digital camera. When I connect it to my Mac, iPhoto opens up and imports them, and I have all the videos in their own event.
When I open up iMovie 08 to edit these clips, they do not show up in the event library under iPhoto videos.

Apr 24, 2012I cant import any photos or videos without iphoto crashing. I have an Ipad2 and iphone4 with a brand new imac running Lion. Since I bought my imac it has always had problems with iphoto. I have removed iphoto and reinstalled a fresh copy of it via the CD that came with my imac. Also, I have no plugins installed so no divx or anything like that.

Aug 26, 2014I use an Apple T.V. and I keep all my media for it on an External Hard Drive. Is there any way to add files to iTunes from the External without actually transferring them into the iTunes media folder - and without having to change the "copy to iTunes Folder" setting in preferences back and forth as I do want certain media such as songs to be moved into my iTunes media folder? In previous versions of Mac OS X there used to be a keyboard shortcut that would accomplish this. If you held down (either control or option) can't remember which it would import the media into iTunes but not transfer it to iTunes media folder. It would sort of import a "shortcut" to the desired media into your iTunes library.

Jun 4, 2014Ok, so I actually have multiple libraries (from itouch, nano, ipod) and I want to import the library from my old pc to work on my Mac.
However, I only want it to work from my external hard drive, I do not want it to take any space in my Mac's SSD .
The one thing that you have to know though is:
Although I have some, a lot of my mp3s are not in my itunes media folder. However, the music is in the library itself, the one in XML and ITL format.
So, I know that had all my music been in the media folder, I could have easily added library and selected that folder, but in this case, I don't think it will work.
How do I import my library with my music if the media folder does not have all my songs?
I had exported my library from my old laptop so I just have the library not my songs in mp3 format :/ if this makes sense..

Feb 18, 2009I recently discovered Bridge. Always had it, but never used it. I very much like that you can see all the information of a selected photo, and that you can sort photos on for example dimensions. It works faster than iPhoto too. The best thing though, is that you can make your own folder-structures.
That's the biggest disadvantage of iPhoto I think. Now I have hundreds (as a matter of speaking) events, which could be grouped to a a few dozens. For example: "Music" > "Concerts" > "Deep Purple" > "California Jam '74"
I know I can create (Smart) albums in iPhoto, but that merges everything into one. If I use my example again, if I would create an album "Music", there would be "California Jam '74" in it, but also an other concert from Deep Purple. And concerts of other bands. And other things related to music. And all of that merged into one huge 'event'.
Am I right or am I missing something?
But, iPhoto looks fantastic, the slideshows are superior, and those new Places and Faces are awesome. But that absence of a folder structure is killing me. If the events were just folder thumbnails...
I'm thinking, what if I do "don't import photos to iPhoto library", and make my own folder structures? That way I can use Bridge as it supposed to be, and if I want to show (off with) my photos I'll go to iPhoto and spend a minute finding the right event.

Nov 1, 2008I just bought a MacBook Pro. I have my iTunes library on an external firewire HDD. I want to keep it there, but have iTunes on my new Mac access it. However, even though I have put the path to that drive in iTunes Preferences, the songs there don't show up in iTunes.
The new Mac is authorised, and I have bought a song on the iTunes store, which was saved to the external drive.
So what do I need to do? Do I get one of the library files copied over from the old machine (also a Mac)?

Dec 26, 2009I added a laptop to our home network that'll primarily be used by my wife. Most of our iTunes content is on my system. I wanted to share the library across the network and give her the option of importing tracks off mine. This will let the whole family use either computer to sync their iPods.
I set up the Home Sharing option using verion 9.0.2 on both machines. I didn't use a password. I can see the other computer's libraries under 'Shared' on each system and access their files to play. But when I select the library, I don't get the 'Import' option that is listed in the Help menu instructions. Without being able to import the tracks, we have to go back to the main machine to sync.

This should be fairly easy, but as often the case - with a new mac, a new version iLife, and it appears that iPhoto 09 will only import originals from iPhoto 08 - not all the editing i've done. Please can somebody give instructions? I've googled myself blind and carnt find any solution. Probably not possible, but keeping those two iPhoto libraries in sync would be the don - any thoughts on how to come about that given the different versions of iPhoto?

Jul 8, 2008I have just bought my first Mac and finding iTunes limiting. I am running a Windows XP desktop, laptop and OSX 10.5 MacPro laptop. I then have a Western Digital World Book 500GB NAS with a share holding all my music so that it is centralized. I have setup iTunes so that it's default library is the WD NAS Share "Music" and deselected the option to copy to local library. The Mac is my wife's computer so I will not be adding new music through its iTunes, but from my XP Desktop to the drive mapping "MUSIC" (simple cut and paste). My frustration is that I can manually import (using iTunes) the contents from "MUSIC".
But any new songs I add to the share "MUSIC" from outside of iTunes will not be recognized/added in the iTunes library without doing another manual import of the new file/folder. I have seen a post for sync'ing two iTunes libraries, which may or may not be possible to sync'd Mac iTunes with Windows iTunes through shares, but I really prefer not to go this route and currently using iTunes only on the Mac. Is there a script or plug-in for Leopard or iTunes that will monitor for changes on the ntwork share then add the new songs to iTunes's libary automatically? Maybe I am thinking to far outside of the box? By the way I do work in the IT field so I am willing to do some more "duct-taping" to make this work

May 28, 2012Is there perhaps a setting to tweak that would prevent iTunes from listing videos (like music videos some albums include) alongside the music library? I usually uncheck them so they don't play after an album runs through but my OCD would much prefer they not even be listed in the same list. I don't want to remove them from my entire iTunes library but would prefer them only being visible within the movies tab.
