MacBook Pro :: Does New Support Nvidia Optimus In Bootcamp?

Battery life in bootcamp was pretty bad on the last version because it was always using the discrete graphics card, I believe it never used the integrated graphics card.

I want to know if the new version will support what is know as nvidia Optimus, where you can switch back and forth between the integrated and dedicated graphics card while in windows (I.e. under bootcamp).

MacBook Pro :: SD Card Support - Booting With XP Using BootCamp?
We all know the new MacBook Pro SD card slot can be used to boot Mac OS X, That is reasonable as a USB HD can also do this. However, can anyone verify if the new SD card slot can be used with BootCamp to boot Windows XP? Windows XP typically will not boot from a USB volume without hacking (Slip Streaming) the install disk. Can a standard Windows XP BootCamp volume be installed on a SD card and used to boot XP on the mid 2009 MacBook Pro?

MacBook Pro :: Windows 7 Not Loading NVIDIA Drivers / Requires Bootcamp To Load Drivers?
I recently installed the 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate operating system onto my MacBook Pro 13 inch. I have the most basic Macbook Pro 13 inch with nothing fancy added. Whenever I load up the Windows 7 OS on my Macbook, it never utilizes or even realizes that I have the NVIDIA graphics card in my laptop. It instead believes I have some integrated graphics card that cannot even run the most basic of PC games. I know my laptop can run these games because on OSX it runs multiple games with higher requirements than these games I am trying to run on Windows.

Basic question: How do I get bootcamp or whatever else to make Windows 7 realize I have a NVIDIA card and drivers. Sorry if I am coming off as stupid or confusing.

MacBook Pro :: NVIDIA GeForce 9400/NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT Laptop Showing Both Cards?
I have found an odd thing when I was looking at my system profiler. After going to Graphics and Display I have found that there are two cards showing NVIDIA GeForce 9400 (Type: GPU, BUS: PCI) and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT (Type: GPU, BUS: PCIe).

My issue is that it seems that NVIDIA GeForce 9400 is shown to be connected to the laptop display where as NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT is not connected to anything. Obviously I would like to use my laptop graphics card to its fullest potential, and I think I should be using NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.

I have a hunch at what might have caused the problem, when I upgraded to this laptop from the previous one I used migrated assistant so I am unsure if it transferred my old graphics grad settings instead of what this new laptop comes with.

Windows On Mac :: Bootcamp Drivers - NVidia - Performance Improvement?
Considering buying win 7 so i can bootcamp for 1st time. Before I do though, I want to know if/why it'll work. I've read that OSX 10.6 has driver issues witn nVidia hardware. Well, why would they be any different on Windows? Does Microsoft write its own drivers for Mac hardware? Or is it nVidia? I ask this b/c dont you have to install the drivers off the OSX disc? Doesn't make sense why apple would give you better drivers for windows than they do for OSX. Point is, I'd be doing this for gaming. I just don't see why there'd be any performance improvement with the SAME HARDWARE, just running windows instead.

Setting aside the temporary lack of support for Windows 7, I was wondering which I should install. I have a few older titles/games that I would like to use/play from time to time. All of them were designed for XP. I'm sure Windows 7 will more than likely run them fine, but is it really my best option?I'm not planning to invest in any additional Windows software (at least that's the current plan). The cost is the same so I'm asking for opinions and comments from others.

MacBook Pro :: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Graphics Versus NVIDIA GeForce 9400M?
I am going to college this year to study Graphic Design and i am looking to purchase a MBP 15". I have read a couple of other threads which cover similar questions however i am not truly satisfied with the answers i have read.

My MBP will have to run the following programs on a regular basis: Photoshop, Bridge, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash. It will also have to run basic tasks such as word processing, internet surfing and email. Finally i would also like to install parallels and XP on the machine just in case an work or applications need to be run on windows. Obviously all of these applications will not be running simultaneously however there is a strong chance 2 or 3 maybe running at the same time. My Imac deals with this without problems, will the MBP be the same?

MacBook Pro :: Nvidia 9600M GT Does Not Work
First, I would like to tell you I'm a French girl and my english isn't very very good so. This is my problem : 2 weeks ago I reinstall a game (World Of Warcraft). When I started it, it was slow, run with low FPS (frame per second) so it was impossible to play. My machine is a MBP with two graphics cards Nvidia 9400M + Nvidia 9600M GT, RAM 4Go-DDR3, Intel Core 2 Duo. I've look many forums, most of them tell that it is necessary to select "Higher Performance" in System Preferences > Energy Saver. I did that, but my game remains with low FPS. I think the game doesn't use both cards. Maybe Nvidia 9600M GT doesn't work, I don't know.

MacBook Pro :: Best/ Nvidia 9600m Gt Or 9400m?
i have the macbook pro with this 2 gpus

i used to use only the 9600m gt for gaming as 9400m was handling everything, has better battery life and run cooler.

but i notice when i'm playing 1080p videos the 9600m gt perform better.

ok, 1080p youtube 9400m no problem at all.

1080p played on vlc 9400m laggy sometimes. but 9600m gt perform well.

1080p played on plex 9400m no problem at all.

that's why i think the new auto switching graphic cards on the new macbook pro is cool.
sometimes i'm on 9600m gt and decide to take the mac to the living area and forget that i was on the dedicated card while using on battery.

MacBook Pro :: How To Update Nvidia Drivers
I have a macbook pro
Model Identifier:MacBookPro5,5
Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed:2.53 GHz

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M:

Chipset Model:NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
Type:GPU
Bus:PCI
VRAM (Total):256 MB
Vendor:NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID:0x0863
Revision ID:0x00b1

It is incredible slow - freezes constantly unless on very low graphics in games like World of Warcraft so i'm assuming i need to upload graphics. So i went to the Nvidia website, and tried to update driver by following steps correctly, selecting the correct options, etc and it said it couldn't update for my system..
How do i update my software so i can play without freezing?

in particlar with the new GPU with 2GB ram is better than the old mini with 4GB running the older GPU for watching e.g. Hulu. The associate in the apple store advised that adobe was developing new flash to be implemented in hulu and the new chip would be better for this (I'm discarding cable & don't want to upgrade in 6 months). If the 'Gflps' are anything to go by this new chip has a lot (2.5x) more.

MacBook Pro :: Choppy Video When Using Nvidia 9400
I am experiencing a video problem and I wonder if someone can give me some insight on this. For some strange reason I can barely watch a DVD while I have my Nvidia 9400 switched on. The effect is choppiness of DVD movies (and 10 - 20 sec freezes when watching avi files). This happens on all players. When I use the Nvidia 9600 the chopping / stuttering is gone but I feel I should at least be able to watch a DVD on my 'energy saver' card, shouldn't I? I always keep an eye on the Activity monitor and can confirm that no cpu hungry app is at work or that I'm running out of RAM while these problems occur.

I am not sure if this is related but I have a suspicion: I did notice though that my memory management looks a little healthier while being on Nvidia 9600. Then, my inactive memory rarely grows above 400MB, whereas when I'm on Nvidia 9400 the inactive memory is pretty stable at 1.04+GB and really doesn't like parting from it easily. Even when I run out of free memory it will then rather swap than utilising the inactive memory.

I already tried the following to solve the problem:
reinstalling SL
cleaning caches
new user account
sms switched off
booting into 64bit
run Tech tool Deluxe
disc scan

MacBook Pro :: Nvidia 9400M Vs Geforce 330m
The 9400M was in older Macbook Pros and I've seen many videos where people run crysis on high/very high and have pretty good FPS. The laptops arent as fast as the newer ones, but yet my MBP (specs down below) which is faster, can only run crysis on medium at around 30 FPS, unless i wanted 5 FPS with high. The only reasoning for this, to me at least, is that the 330M chip is not as good. Is this the case? If so, why the hell did the graphics chip get downgraded? Here is a link to one of the vids I was talking about: [URL:....] This guy is using the demo for his vid. when i use the demo, it doesnt even give me the option of using very high settings, and when i'm on high, my screen flashes in and out, i get random lines across the screen, and then my computer freezes.
