MacBook Pro :: Early 08 MBP - New HDTV Connection

Nov 17, 2009

My old Powerbook had an S-Video output that I used to connect to my TV. Since then I've bought a MBP, and recently I purchased a Samsung PN50B550T2F TV (My first HD... went a little overboard!).

I want to connect my MBP to it so that I can watch some online content: Southpark studios.

What's the best way to go about doing this? What kind of cables (audio/video) should I buy?

Software :: Finding Macbook Connection To HDTV.

Feb 24, 2009

I want to down load digital photos from my camera to my macbook. My macbook uses Office for Mac, Leopard. I then want to be able to view those photos on my TV. It is a large screen new HDTV, Sony. The cable connection on the TV seems to be RGB. The port on the macbook seems to be DVI. Can I do this? And if so what cables and other devices and software are required?

PowerPC :: Can Hooked Up To An HDTV Via A VGA Connection

Have a Mac mini G4 - 1.42GHz model with 1GB RAM, which I have hooked up to an HDTV via a VGA connection. Plays almost anything I can throw at it with no problem, but I subscribe to a few video podcasts in 720p HD format, and playing them back tends to suffer from skipping on the video.playing back HD video on this model of Mac, or is the G4 simply not up to it?

IMac :: Connect To HDTV - Use Network Connection?

Jul 25, 2010

I would like to connect my IMAC to my tv. I tried using a home network, but the samsung tv I have does not recognize most of the files, plus the internet apps suck big time.(only netflix is kind of good) So I was then thinking to get a mac mini and just but ay 1000$ it doe snot solve my needs. So I am looking for something to wireless stream the video from my imac to the tv. So it would mini dvi to hdmi - then box with HDMI input to stream to another box with HDMI output connected to my tv. It would also need to stream the audio. Is there anyway to just use the network connection and just hack into the tv?

OS X :: Connect IMac To Sony Bravia HDTV With VGA Connection (not HDMI)

Oct 4, 2010

I just replaced my HDTV with a new Sony Bravia 32EX500 (Full HD, 1080p). My previous TV (HD Ready, 720p) was linked to my 2008 iMac with a VGA cable (with a mini-DVI to VGA adapter on the Mac end). It worked perfectly fine, but I can't get it to work with the new TV. Could you please tell me what resolution, frequency, and colours I should use to make it work?

Please not that I do not want a HDMI cable. I know it'd be better and easier, but my computer is quite far away from the TV and an HDMI cable of that length would be way too expensive. I'd rather find a way to make it work with the existing VGA cable. I just need to find the right settings for that VGA input. The TV doesn't recognize the signal right now.

Hardware :: Unable To Recognise External Monitor / HDTV Recognises Connection

Apr 10, 2009

However Ive just bought a LG M2794D 1080p tv/monitor and now have a problem. The TV is showing it recognises when the HDMI cable is connected to the macbook (on the screen the input menu shows live connections) or not through HDMI cable and mini-DVI to HDMI connector but the macbook does not recognise any external monitor. In display preferences there is no arrangement tab either and no resolution greater than 1280 x 800. Of course the TV has full 1080p resolution.

MacBook Pro :: "Network Connection The Communication Device Selected For Your Connection Does Not Exist?

Mar 16, 2012

The internal modem in my PowerBook Pro (mid 2010) shows up as "not connected" in the Network pane of system preferences, but I can't figure out how to get it to connect. When I enter my phone number and click the connect button, I get an error message: "Network Connection The communication device selected for your connection does not exist. Verify your settings and try reconnecting." Say what? It says it exists in the System Preferences, shows it in the list on the left. How can it not exist?

MacBook Pro :: Airport On Brand New 13" - Wireless Connection Losing It's Connection

Jan 26, 2010

I recently purchased (as in days ago) a refurbished 13" Macbook Pro. I just noticed today that my wireless connection on my Macbook Pro has been losing it's connection about every other 2-3 minutes. I was on iChat with a buddy this morning, and I must have been disconnected and then reconnected about 8 times in 20 minutes. I first thought it must have been a problem with iChat. That said, I have sat here looking at my screen for the past ten minutes, and I have seen the Airport wireless indicator disconnect and then reconnect again at least three times in the past ten minutes.

I have AT&T U-Verse Service, and I am forced to use their provided 2WIRE router. That said, I have had no problems with any other device that uses the wireless connection, from my iPhone to my PS3. I work from home and have my HP laptop literally sitting right next to my Macbook, and it has not disconnected once from the same wireless connection, whereas my Macbook has literally disconnected at least 20 times.

MacBook Pro :: Trying To Hook With HDTV?

Jun 27, 2010

I have some tv shows downloaded that I'd like to watch on my HDTV. I currently have a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter and a 3.5mm male to male audio cable that I plug into the TV and the headphone jack on my MBP.

1. The audio does not work. Is there a setting somewhere I must enable?

2. Would I be better off buying some other sort of cable?

3. What are my options for displaying my MBP screen on the TV and where do I access these options? When I hook up the adapter it just extends my screen to the TV.

Perhaps I need a MBP to TV guide of some sort. I can get this done easily with my old PC but I"d really like to do it with my MBP.

Hardware :: MacBook Pro To Samsung HDTV

Apr 26, 2010

I did a google and MGoogle search but had trouble wading through all the previous threads. In order to connect my MacBook Pro (specs in signature) to my Samsung 40" HDTV, I need the following:

- DVI-HDMI Adapter
- HDMI Cable
- Audio cable - What type? Is this plugged into the headphone jack on the MPB and where on the TV?

Also, what do I need to know/do on the computer in order to ensure the picture and sound is on the TV. Do I need to switch any settings or is it as simple as plug it in and away you go. I'd like to purchase these cables today after work and since I'm nowhere near a Mac store can they be bought at BestBuy, The Source, or somewhere similar?

MacBook Pro :: No Audio Connecting To HDTV

May 30, 2010

I had my MBP and TV connected via two cords from Monoprice (Mini DisplayPort Male to HDMI Male 32AWG Cable "5995" which handles video and 3.5mm Stereo Plug/2 RCA Plug Cable "665" which does audio). I'm connecting to a mid 2009 model MBP. I'm aware of the Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter "5969" however that still required me to purchase a separate HDMI cable to connect to that cord itself plus was four times the total price vs. using 5995 + 665 (plus the Monoprice rep said my method would work just as well).

MacBook :: Hooking Up A Mb To Sony Bravia HDTV?

Sep 26, 2009

I have a Macbook Unibody (late 08) with the mini displayport. I want to hook it up to my Sony Bravia (KDL-40V3000). Since the HDMI ports are all used up, the only ports available are the VGA, and Component.

My questions are pretty basic:
What is my best option to hook it up, giving me the highest resolution (the TV says it does 1920 x 1080). Will both VGA and Component do that?

Also, I do already have the mini displayport to DVI adapter for another monitor I use, so I could get a DVI->VGA adapter I think. But if that's going to degrade the video, or whatnot, I don't mind getting a different adapter for this project.
