MacBook Pro :: Difference Between Samsung LTN154BT02 And No-name B154PW04 LCD's?

Sep 2, 2008

I'm going to be getting a replacement screen for my MBP so I'm curious if there is a difference between the two screens. With both work on my MBP or should I swap whatever the original is only? Any benefits of one over the other?

OS X :: Connecting MacBook Pro To Samsung LCD

Apr 23, 2009

I thought it would be pretty straight forward connecting my mbp to my lcd samsung. I'm using a belkin hdmi to dvi, and after I connect and select the input on the tv, all I see is the original os x background on the tv. Ao at least I am seeing something and the cable seems to be working, but that's all I see. I can't get anything else to display. When I watch instruction videos people just seem to get the whole desktop with dash and everything to display right after connecting.

MacBook Pro :: How To Watch DVD's On Samsung LCD TV

Jun 17, 2010

My wife and I have never had a TV and have always watched DVD's on our not-even-one-year-old MacBook Pro and after moving into a house, yada yada yada, we finally purchased a Samsung LN46C630 LCD TV.

Now, we aren't ready to buy a Blu-Ray player yet so we want to continue to watch DVD's on our MBP and hook it up to the TV and watch it from there.

MacBook Pro :: Compatible With Samsung Plasma TV?

Sep 28, 2010

new Samsung Plasma television and have not been successful in attempting to connect my MacBook Pro to it. Here's what I've done thus far. I'm not sure of what the port is called on my MacBook, but I regularly use it at work to connect to a separate monitor so I know it works. I believe it's some type of DVI port but I know it's not a mini-dvi because I initially bought a mini-dvi adapter and that didn't fit the port. But I've got an adapter that plugs into that port, and converts to DVI. Then a second adapter that converts DVI to HDMI. Then I have a HDMI to HDMI cable that connects to my tv.

MacBook :: Connecting To Samsung LCD Audio?

Feb 17, 2009

I am trying to connect my macbook to my Samsung LCD TV. The TV is Samsungs 3 series, and has 2 HDMI, audio, optical, RCA and PC input. I hooked up the video via the display port-HDMI and used the HDMI 1 port on my TV. It looks great. I tried my 3.5 audio cable to plug into the audio input on the TV. No luck. The audio input seems to correspond to that PC input so I'm guessing that I have to use the PC input in order to get the audio to work as well. Is this accurate? If so does anyone recommend an audio connection type that would work? Maybe I'll just run to Best Buy to get a 3.5 audio cable to RCA.

MacBook :: Connection To Samsung T260?

Jul 16, 2009

I just purchased a Samsung T260, and hooked it up to my Macbook with the cable provided by Newegg. The monitor is calling for a resolution of 1900x1200, (I found the maximum macbook resolution is 1920x1200), but when I go to Preferences > Displays, the maximum available resolution is only 1600x1200. I searched and found that the maximum resolution for VGA on the macbook is only 1600x1200, I'm assuming this is the problem, is it likely that they included a VGA cable instead of a DVI cable and this is restricting my max resolution? If so, do I just need a DVI-D cable and then more resolution options will show up on the display options? Also, any links for the proper cable?

Hardware :: MacBook Pro To Samsung HDTV

Apr 26, 2010

I did a google and MGoogle search but had trouble wading through all the previous threads. In order to connect my MacBook Pro (specs in signature) to my Samsung 40" HDTV, I need the following:

- DVI-HDMI Adapter
- HDMI Cable
- Audio cable - What type? Is this plugged into the headphone jack on the MPB and where on the TV?

Also, what do I need to know/do on the computer in order to ensure the picture and sound is on the TV. Do I need to switch any settings or is it as simple as plug it in and away you go. I'd like to purchase these cables today after work and since I'm nowhere near a Mac store can they be bought at BestBuy, The Source, or somewhere similar?

OS X :: Connecting Macbook Pro To Samsung Hd Tv With DVI To HDMI?

Jul 17, 2010

i just bought a DVI to HDMI cable, to plug my macbook pro to my big samsung tv. I successfully connected them to eachother, but there was only 1 problem which ruins the whole experience. There are weird fuzzy colours all around the screen and is almost impossible to see anything.

Here you can see the DVI cable plugged in the MBP:

And on the tv screen everything looks messed up:

this is a brand new cable so i don't think it would be the problem, im only afraid maybe my DVI input would be broken.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect 2011 To Samsung Tv

Apr 7, 2012

I am using a rocketfish thunderbolt to HDMI dongle, HDMI cable to the TV. The TV seems to recognize that something is connected, but the message on the screen still says no signal. I've tried the various HDMI inputs as well as the HDMI/DVI input. I use the same HDMI cable to connect to the iPad to the tv without problems.

My Macbook shows "Samsung" under displays, so the machine is connecting to the tv. Could this be a firmware issue on my TV? The TV is approx 3 years old. This is part of the reason I bought this machine

I know the adaptor works b/c I can connect it to another external monitor at my work.

When I connect the MB to the monitor, the MB sees it b/c "Syncmaster" shows up after I detect displays. However, nothing shows on the T220HD screen. Sometimes, the LCD simply says, "There is no device connected."

MacBook Pro :: Samsung 256 SSD - Cannot Install / GUID Partition Set

Mar 13, 2010

OK, the title pretty much says it.

I just popped a 256GB Samsung SSD into my (old) PowerBook Pro1,1 2.16Mhz machine.

I used the disk utility to properly partition the drive (1 partition) and set the Scheme to GUID Partition Table successfully. Verified the drive and the disk utility seems to like it.

I restarted with the install DVD (10.5.7 from a "13-inch Mac OSX Install Disk" - 9J3050) and it still gives me the old, "You cannot install Mac OS X on this volume"

So... the OS is newer than the one that shipped with the machine, and the partition table is correct... what gives?

MacBook Pro :: Wireless Printing With Samsung CLX-3185FW?

Feb 25, 2012

how to install a Samsung CLX-3185FW to print wirelessly? I have downloaded the drivers from the Samsung site which enable me to print via USB and also to connect the printer to the home wireless.  On a MACBook Air I've managed to install the printer using the IP address.  I can then print from the MacBook Pro by sending it through the MBAir as the printer shows up as connected to the MBAir.  However, when I try to install the printer to the MBPro using the IP address I'm told that Apple doesn't have the necessary software.  Consequently, I'm unable to print directly from the MBPro to the printer.

MacBook Pro :: Get Sound To Play On Samsung HDTV?

how to get sound to play on my TV from my laptop for several days now. I bought an Mini Display Port to HDMI converter (Kanex Iadapt) off Amazon that is supposed to have audio support. I connected it with the HDMI cable to my TV and changed my display settings to mirror and the picture comes up fine but when I tried to change the output in sound settings to my TV my TV didn't even come up as an option. I went out and bought a Y audio cable figuring my laptop may be older than 2010 and needs an additional cable, plugged the audio cable into the same HDMI outputs in the TV and still no sound.

Laptops :: MacBook Pro And Samsung Monitor - Quit QuickTime

Dec 28, 2010

I've been using my 15" MacBook Pro (purchased late 2009) running 10.6.5 with a very old 23" Apple Cinema Display for a year now with no problems. I use both the laptop screen and the external monitor at the same time. Recently I tried switching to a Samsung SyncMaster 245BW since the Cinema Display is starting to show its age in terms of picture quality. Everything works fine until I launch QuickTime or any application that uses QuickTime (iTunes for example). This causes the Samsung monitor to jump back and forth very quickly from a screen full of snow to a normal screen over and over and over, rendering the external monitor useless. The only way to get it to stop is to quit QuickTime, unplug the external monitor, and plug it back in.

The same thing happens when I try switching external monitor resolutions from 1920x1200 to anything else. The only refresh rate available is 60hz. All others are grayed out. My MacBook Pro apparently has just one graphics card since the energy saver preferences don't include the option to switch between better graphics and power saving.

MacBook Pro :: Samsung Monitor - Text Looks Jagged / Blurry

Dec 23, 2010

I just recently got a Samsung P2450H 24" monitor and I've connected it into my MBP with a mini Displayport > HDMI adaptor and with a HDMI cable. I've changed the default setting from AV to PC in the Samsung Monitor menu as recommended by others on this forum, and now I'm getting the maximum 1920 x 1080 resolution available on both Windows 7 and Mac OS with no overscanning issues etc. Everything fits on the screen. However, the text and font on websites looks a bit jagged and a bit blurry on Mac OS and I'm not sure why. If you stand far away, it's not that noticeable, but sitting at a reasonable distance (say 2 feet), you can definitely notice it. It just doesn't look that sharp in general.

People have said HDMI connections don't work that well on Samsung Monitors and I'd be better off with a DVI connection, but I can't see why there would be a discrepancy between the two modes. Which leaves the other reason - that this is an inherent issue to do with all Samsung P2450H models being affected with Mac OS, and not the cable itself? Has anyone experienced the same issues I've just alluded to? Perhaps I'm just being pedantic, but I'm pretty sure blurry/jagged text shouldn't be a characteristic of this monitor.
