MacBook :: Early 2008 Model - Refuses To Turn On
Jun 21, 2009I tried restarting my MacBook (2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, early 2008 model) today. But when it turned back on it would just shut off and automatically try restarting. It did this over and over again until I just pulled the battery so it would stop. It wouldn't even let me do a force turn off. It would just start up, shut down, start up, shut down over and over again.

Feb 26, 2012I plugged a usb cord (prom an Epson printer) into my 2008 Mac Pro, next thing I know everything is frozen. Turn off the Mac Pro now I can't get it to turn back on.I've unplugged it from electricity and retried, I've taken off the two exterior hard drives that were connected via firewire and the usb printer, nothing seems to be bringing this computer back to life.The computer was working completely fine a half an hour ago.

Mac Pro :: Mac Pro (early 2008) Won't Turn On When Turned Off For A Long Period Of Time?
Aug 5, 2008I have been having problems with my Mac Pro for the last few days. When I am not encoding or downloading anything for the night, I usually turn it off. Recently though, if I turn it off, and then turn it on the next evening (around 16 hours later) then it will not turn on right away, and by that I mean that the fans turn on, I see the little white light turn on, but I don't hear the startup chime, the lights don't turn on on my logitech keyboard, and my screen stays black, the monitor itself not detecting any signal.
It may take up to 20 minutes of pressing the power button and turning it on and off until I hear the startup chime and see the apple on screen, but then it usually resets itself once and then it loads up to mac os. Once the Mac Pro has been turned on once though, I can turn it on and off without any problems it seems.
I just don't understand why this would be happening. One thing I thought was that we had an electrical outage a few days ago but all my other computers were fine and I am using a special bar to connect my stuff to make sure that when there is an electrical outage, no damage is done to my computers. The weird part is that the problems started appearing on the next day so I was wondering if that could have affected my computer and how.

1) Bluetooth is ON:
I can't turn it off. The checkbox is inactive.
But I can turn it off, if I choose "Share my internet connection for other units". (I don't know, if this is the right text in english, because my OSX is in german)
2) Now Bluetooth is OFF:
But I can't turn it on, because the checkbox "ON" is inactive.
It turns only on, if I choose "New Unit"(?). Then there is a new window, that says, that this is only possible if Bluetooth turns on. If I say OK, bluetooth turns ON.

What's the problem. Why is this f* checkbox for turning bluetooth on and off inactive?
This is not a hardware problem, because I can have stable bluetooth connections.
I did a smc and am pram reset. But it doesn't help.

This weekend I went to turn off my iBook & it wouldn't turn off. It's now permanently on, with opening info barely visible (like I need to click on F2 to brighten up, except nothing happens).
Currently using my "back up" computer, my iMac Grape, which is pretty much an antique by now.

I'm running 10.6.2 if this makes a difference?Also if 8GB is not possible for me, and I'm gonna lose dual channel anyway, should I get one 4GB and have 5GB total, or is 2X2GB (retain dual channel) better than 5 (4GB + 1GB) or 6GB (4GB + 2GB) of Ram?

Jan 30, 2009I just enabled filevault for my macbook pro, I was worried about it while on campus and traveling and wanted an added layer of security. Now my powerpoints won't work, they won't even load, this only happened since enabling powerpoint yesterday. Is there anything I can do to make it work or do I need to disable filevault?

Jul 2, 2009when I turn on my computer there is a blank screen. You can still hear the normal noises coming from the computer like any normal boot-up. But if I let my computer sit for a while without turning it on, it will turn on with weird almost static noises. If I force shut down then try again, I get the normal boot-up noises. I tried the safe boot-up method,holding down the shift button while turning the computer on, but no dice. I actually tried this method on both the good and static noise boot-up.

Jan 21, 2010its wierd, its 60 degrees celsium and 2300rpm fans (without any smc fan manglers) just FRESHLY rebooted, and completely CLEAN install! without anything. odesnt matter if its 10.5 or 10.6.
it used to be 44 degrees and 1800rpm fans! and 40 degrees with 2000rpm fans on 10.5. .
