I'm using OSX 10.5.8 and I can't upload any files to specific website ( I've tried all the browsers: Safary, Chrome, FF) I know the site is OK, because when I tried to upload from other user on my mac or from other computers it's working just fine.

My goal is to export HD quality files to upload to my website that accepts flv, f4v, and mp4 formats. When I try exporting using Compressor to the mp4 format, the sound quality is there, but the video plays at half speed and has vertical lines in it. I've tried it several times, and have even first exported a .mov file from FCP, then used Compressor only to have the same results.

I can't connect to a certain web site -[URL] I am running 10.6.4, and all my browsers - Safari, Firefox, Chrome - don't open that site. I get the same connection error that I would get when I enter something in the address bar that does not exist.
Funny thing is: I can connect to Zenfolio from my iPod touch on the same router. So it should be a problem with my computer - but what could be wrong? No entries in "Proxies", and the hosts file looks innocent as well...

I've been able to use it without any problems using my macbook pro previously, but now I can't figure out what has changed. i hava an older powerbook G4 running Mac OS 10.5.8. there is website [URL] which broadcast news and musics. the station is physically located in NY, and some unknown reasons, i am unable to get any radio SOUND from that site. The website works 100% well, without ANY problems whatsoever on ALL and ANY Windows based PC's, but NOT Mac.

I did a search on Google for a message board for an NFL team (Baltimore Ravens). The top link on Google was the message board on the official team site. When I clicked on the link, it redirected me to some random shady site. When I tried again, I got through fine. But I then reset Safari (deleting the cookies), tried it again, and the same thing happened. Yahoo provided the same issue.
I do not download anything except for Software Updates (I know about the trojans posing as codecs and pirated software, and have not downloaded anything of the such).
Out of curiosity, I tried Googling the website on a PC with Firefox, and had no problem. I downloaded Safari to that same PC, and the same thing occurred, so this clearly is a browser specific problem. Also of note is that on the PC, the AV detected a trojan about 5 minutes later.
I tried disabling Java, and the Google link wouldn't open the webpage the first time, but I did not get redirected. Typing the address in directly provided no problems.
I am at a loss. Is my system secure? I keep up with all updates (I am currently on 10.5.8, though). Has my system been compromised at all?
I have a website that I need to open with Safari as it won't display properly in Firefox 3.6.3. From the Address Bar in Safari, I dragged a link to my desktop, right-clicked and checked it to always open with Safari. The name of the link is something like "PITA.webloc"
When it opens that first time, it dose open in Safari, but subsequently, always opens in FF. I also right-clicked to "Get Info" and indicated it to always open with Safari. While "Get Info" shows that correctly, it still always opens in FF.
I am trying to record from a disc and convert it into mp3 format so that I can upload to a website. I used to do this on my PC by recording directly from the cd into a program called audacity. I have downloaded Audacity for Mac but I can't figure out how to do this. Or can this be done in Garage Band? I would prefer to stick with Apple software if it is possible.

Since yesterday when I open iWeb and click on the "Welcome" name to select the page (to modify or just look at it), iWeb immediatelly quits. The same happens when I follow a link to "Welcome" from another page.
I can access all other pages with no problems.
I tried deleting iWeb's preferences file, restoring an older copy of my domain.site2 file, overwriting iWeb with another copy of iWeb (same version), nothing changed.
This concerns iWeb 3.0 (build 301) on Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Darwin 10.2).
In Safari whenever looking for a specific web site, other web sites on the background start to erupt and show up, which I never look for, which has become so annoying. I tried to change the Privacy settings, but all in vain.

My buddy's hard drive got all messed up when he installed snow leopard, so it needs to be wiped clean and reinstalled. I can only boot from the DVD install disk. My question is, how do I back up specific files he wants to save on an external hard drive before I wipe it clean? I tried just backing up the whole drive by using Restore in disk utility, but it wouldn't work. Is there anyway I can navigate the hard drive to copy the files I need onto the external while booting from the install disk?

I am in the habit of shooting in RAW+JPG mode which means when I download my photos there is both a .NEF and a .JPG file for each photo. Having done this for several years on a PC, I now want to use iPhoto to view the jpgs and keep with Lightroom for the nefs. I therefore want to move the .JPG files from /Photography/RAW/<Year>/<Month>/<Day> to /Photography/JPG/<Year>/<Month>/<Day>. So far the only way I've worked out is to copy the entire folder structure then use Spotlight to find the nefs within the new folder structure and delete them.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTwo months ago I switched web hosting providers/services from a Linux server to a UNIX server. For the most part the functionality is fine but the ability to upload files using any FTP client is near impossible. We've tried Fetch (4.x and 5.x) Filezilla, Cyberduck, Dreamweaver, and an old copy of GoLive but it takes 6 minutes or more to upload a 230byte file!. The upload is relatively fast but it hangs up on the exiting handshake, or drops the connection and has to reconnect.
We spoke with Fetch and tested both copies on their UNIX server---no problem. We've tried our other clients on other UNIX, Windows, and Linux servers---no problem. We've had the web host and our service provider look at DNS blocks, etc. and all seems to be fine. Pings and trace routes seem fine. The web host company indicated that they believed that it was an issue with their server but eventually threw up their hands and said that they couldn't figure it out (not Mac friendly I suspect). My questions is two fold:
1) Can anyone give me an idea what IS the problem?
2) Can anyone recommend a good 'Mac-friendly' web hosting service that doesn't have issues with Mac's, will allow installation of a variety of CMS, eCommerce solutions, and of course seamless FTP access with variety of clients.
I am trying to upload music files to an sd card in the built-in card reader on my mac mini and when I insert it it tells me that it is read only. I cannot add files to the card. Is there any way to make sd cards writable from the built-in reader?Â

Just got a MacBook Pro. It hasn't been able to upload pics, attachments to any website. Facebook, Gmail, Google+, ect. It was like this out of the box. I have tried Mountain Lion, Mavericks & Yosemite Beta 2 and then Internet Recovery back to Mountain Lion & currently on Mavericks. Same on all OS versions. Also the same on Chrome, Firefox & Opera. Tried 2 different routers..same results. No other device on my network has this issue. In a Facebook message it will send stickers but not photos or files. The photo & attachment progress bars on Facebook, Gmail, ect get stuck at about 50% after hitting send and then fail. The firewall is off. Downloads are perfect.
