Jun 13, 2010my brother is having a problem with his unibody MacBook that he bought just a few months ago. It won't start when the power button is pressed, the sleep indicator light turns on and that's all. There's no start up tune, and nothing appears on screen. I had a similar problem with my MacBook Pro. I was told that the logic board needed to be replaced due to too much dust or moisture. Could this be the same problem? and has anyone else here ever had the same problem?

Sep 4, 2014I have macbook Pro running OS X 10.9.4 purchased in 2012 times. For past few days, I've noticed this problem- I have to long press the power button to switch on the device. Normally, the devices switches on with a simple press on the power button. But for the recent days, when I do a simple press of the power button, I think it switches on and goes off instantly. I had to long press (for around 5-8 seconds) to switch it on. After the device is on, there is no problem at all...

Apr 29, 2009I have just shipped my Mac Mini to its new home and I've had reports that the panic error is appearing on boot up: "You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart Button." This screen appears on the blue window just after the grey apple screen has disappeared and does not get as far as the desktop at the same point each time. We have tried to reinstall mac OS from the original install disk but holding the "C" Key or the "Option" Key down on restart doesn't boot from disc. Is there a way you can view the Kernel Panic log before you boot into Mac OS so we can try and pin point the source of this problem. I'm wondering if this could have been the result of the shipping that has caused some hardware to come loose.

Apr 20, 2012When I was working on my MBP last night I noticed the computer slowing down, then a sheer black wash went over the screen and a prompt saying I need to manually power off and then power on the computer with several different languages below. When I did that the computer made the on sound, opened up to the apple logo in the center and the spinning gear below. But its stuck there! I can definitely hear the laptop running but it hasnt budged for the last 12 hours.Â

Oct 6, 2010recently, my mouse has been having a lot of trouble holding its "click". By this I mean when I, for example, attempt to drag a file folder to folder or even drag a window around, it loses the "hold" and usually ends up dropping the file and clicking something else. Oftentimes if i right click hold it will lose the hold and select something else in the menu.Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? I'm not certain that it is a hardware problem either, if maybe it is something to do with my iMac itself?

I went on the HP support network, which gave me a solution that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, plus in the past I never had to take all the extra steps to scan a photo. The HP support site claims that upgrades for HP Printer devices was included with Snow Leopard. So why can't I just press the scan button like I used to?

Feb 10, 2008I have a iBook G4 laptop and there seems to be something very wrong with it. It started a few days ago just randomly. I was reading something on the internet and the screen went black on me, but the power was still on (I clicked CAPS LOCK to see if there was power). I then proceeded to push the power button and the power went off. When I pressed the power button again to turn it on, it made that internal noise it always makes and then the fan came on, and wouldn't turn off. There was no picture on the screen at all. Completely dead. But there was power, because when I clicked on the CAPS LOCK, the light came on). I tried pressing on the power button for at least 15 seconds and even went as long as a minute, and the power didn't go off.

Mar 14, 2012If I have some MP3 files on my computer that have not been imported into iTunes and I import them by selecting them and opening them (thereby opening iTunes, copying the files to the Music folder, and adding it to the library), I noticed that the pause button becomes a stop button when it automatically starts playing a track. If I click the stop button, it stops playing the track, and when I click play again, it is not a pause button.

MacBook Pro :: Clinks When Press Trackpad?
Jan 4, 2011I have a new Macbook Pro 15' (MC372). Its a very nice computer, I'm just having some annoying sound when i click with my trackpad. From time to time I can hear some kind of metallic echo (on realase), it sounds like something is a bit loose, clinky/rattling/jingling sound. A bit like in an old mouse when you can hear the spring working.
I know many people complain about trackpad being noisy etc. but this is a bit different. Except for the proper click there is this second sound, when the trackpad is going back to its position after clicking. I had it checked by Apple and they replaced the trackpad - but it didnt help. I don't hear this sound on either of demo computers, so it can't really be normal. If replacing trackpad doesnt help then my guess is - its something else. But what can it be?
The rattling/clinky sound comes rather from the right side of the keyboard area. It sounds a bit like the sound that laptop makes when im putting it on a hard surface (the keyboard then rattles a bit).
I attach an mp3 - maybe it will help. It's a bit too amplified (its not that loud or strong normally) - but try to hear the sound that comes at the very end of each click.

It's like there's something underneath it, preventing it from going down. I could have spilled breadcrumbs or something like that on the keyboard, but only in really small amounts; I try to eat and drink as little as possible with my MacBook around, 'cause I'm always afraid of spilling something in- or onto it. how to get rid of it? The keys still work, but I just don't like it this way.

My native language is Spanish and I use the Spanish ISO layout in my computer keyboards; anyway, my new macbook has an English keyboard and, though I changed the keyboard layout to be used as a Spanish one, I did not find a way to enter the backslash. The other characters [including � and accented vowels are working properly].
Do you know what key combination must I press to enter the backslash?

Aug 4, 2010So I got my Core i5 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro back in April when they came out, and it has had some problems. All the the issues have been minor, but still annoying. First of all, I get the scroll wheel all of the time. Way more than a new computer should. Also, I have to press the Caps Lock key several times before it actually comes on. In addition, often times when I open iTunes, it just bounces for a long time until I have no choice but to force quit. After a few attempts it opens, but I feel like it shouldn't do this. Also, when I put headphones in the head phone jack, they don't work right away. Either they don't work at all and I have to pull them out and try again, or it takes several seconds to come on. Again, these are minor issues, but I still don't like it.
