Windows On Mac :: Boot Camp 3.1 Drivers Support Then Tells Computer Will Not Run Windows 7 64 Bit?

Jul 11, 2010

1 - I have an early 2008 iMac 24" and ordered Snow Leopard disc from Apple
2 - After installation of Win7 64 bit and problems with boot camp 3.1 drivers support then tells me my computer will not run windows 7 64 bit and sends me a list of non-compatibles. Sure enough mine is one.

3 - Several respondents help me and it appears that 64 bit will run but still trouble with keyboard/mouse.4 - uninstall 64 bit and install 32 bit and related boot camp drivers5 - numeric keypad on apple keyboard still does not work with office 20106 - just tried to update drivers for win 32 but it says more current ones are installed??? I guess that is from the attempt to install 3.1 for win 64 unsuccessfully?7 - Now support lists computers that will not run windows 7 and mine is not on that list.

right now i'd be a happy camper if someone could just tell me how to get the Apple keyboard that came with my iMac and the numeric keypad working when in Windows or Office.

MacBook Pro :: Retina Doesn't Support 1440x900 In Windows

Jun 20, 2012

Finally took the plunge tonight and installed Windows 7 on a partition on my new Retina MBP.  Everything's beautiful, runs fine... after playing around in native 2880x1800 for a while, I decided to see how this gorgeous screen would look at exactly 1/2 its native resolution.  Open display properties... screen resolution... There is no option in either the windows native resolution pane or the nVidia Control Center to switch resolution to exactly 1440x900.  Closest is 1600x900, which of course is the wrong aspect ratio.

I kept running games in OS X at 1440x900 and it would render all interpolated and blurry, and I thought that was simply Apple's funky scaling for the Retina display... but something's seriously wrong if I can't run a 2880x1800 screen at 1440x900. Of course, I can always define a custom resolution, but I'm scared to do that... I have no idea why 1440x900 isn't an option and I don't want to experiment on my brand new $2,200 toy.

Mac Pro :: New RAID Card - No Windows Support

Mar 3, 2009

I see that Apple has announced a new Mac Pro RAID card, the price has dropped to $700. It still only supports OS X, no windows driver. The bandwidth limitation of 320MB/sec seems to have increased to over 500MB/sec. Anyone know if this compatible with older Mac Pros? Is the previous card discontinued? Apple is not even offering the SAS drives when configuring a Mac Pro to buy as shown in the benchmark configuration performance example.

Windows On Mac :: Looking For The Drivers That Support The Line Out

Jun 1, 2009

I recently got a third hard drive for my Mac Pro and decided to install windows on it using Boot Camp. I formatted the drive ntfs and installed windows. After the installation was complete I inserted the leopard disk as I was instructed to do so and installed the Apple Drivers.

It seems a Realtek Audio HD driver was installed. This allows sound to come from the internal speaker, but as far as I can windows is not recognizing the line-out jack when I am in windows. (The one on the back of the Mac Pro) I can plug my speakers into the headphone jack (on the front) and they will work or I can use an external USB soundcard, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the speakers to work via the line out.

I have tried reinstalling the realtek drivers several times. All this seems to do is reinstall that darn Audio Manager which allows me to put useless "reverb" effects on. Or listen to a bee buzzing around my head. Is there anyway to get the line out to work under boot camp? Preferably a way that doesn't require me to install the Realtek Audio manager. (Which is totally useless.)

Right now I have the drivers uninstalled. Since all they did in the first place was make the internal speaker work, I'm fine without them until I can figure out how to get the line out to work. The only downside is the machine yells at me on startup that the integrated card has no driver. Are there any know drivers that support the line out? And again, if I can avoid the Audio Manager being installed as well, that would be great.

Mac :: Lack Of Support For Windows 7 - Bootcamp

Nov 13, 2009

Setting aside the temporary lack of support for Windows 7, I was wondering which I should install. I have a few older titles/games that I would like to use/play from time to time. All of them were designed for XP. I'm sure Windows 7 will more than likely run them fine, but is it really my best option?I'm not planning to invest in any additional Windows software (at least that's the current plan). The cost is the same so I'm asking for opinions and comments from others.

Windows On Mac :: PAE Support For Memory Utilization?

Apr 14, 2010

So I have a MacBook 4,1 with Windows 7 32bit installed via bootcamp. I would install 64bit however at the current time the drivers don't exist for older Macbooks for Windows 7. Anyways, I have 4GB of RAM installed and as most are aware, 32bit Windows only recognizes like 3.5GB or RAM. For some reason my Windows 7 tells me I only have 3.0GB... but that is beside the point. I want 4GB useable. Back when I had Windows XP installed, I remember enabling PAE support to allow for using 4GB... however I don't remember how I did it and I'm also sure it's a bit different in Windows 7. So long story short, anyone know how to enable PAE in Windows 7 so I can utilize 4GB of RAM? Also I've heard there are some issues even if you can get this working.

Could anyone tell me how to access or view the Windows support (boot camp) files on the Leopard installation disc, whilst in leopard. That is when you put the leopard install disc in the mac it shows you the leopard stucture or thereabouts, but I want to know what programs that are available for the mac. That will let me see whether or not there is Windows support also on the install DVD. I know the easy option is to boot up into windows & put the install dvd in & wait to see if it boots up. That isn't an option at the minute.

Windows On Mac :: Does VMWare Fully Support XP With Unity And Stuff

Jan 4, 2011

I'm getting a MBA for my mum who owns a business. It does stuff with Filemaker 5, she can't upgrade because it is a special version somebody made for her company and he isn't doing stuff anymore. She runs XP at work and is going to be accessing Windows on the Air via VMWare fusion. Does VMWare fully support XP with Unity and stuff? I'm wondering whether Windows 7 is worth it when XP uses less resources and would be better for a Virtual Machine plus she uses it at work. She has a 13'' with 4GB.

Vista is out of the question for obvious reasons.

Windows On Mac :: Install 7 With Boot Camp - Official Support?

Nov 13, 2009

I recently ordered a copy of Windows 7 Professional Full Retail (for around $30 before tax and shipping through a Microsoft phone order as a student ) and it should get here tomorrow. My Mac that I use is a mid-2009 13" 2.26GHz MacBook Pro that I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Now, my question is should I wait to install Windows 7 with Boot Camp? I heard that Apple currently doesn't officially support Windows 7 on Boot Camp, but will by the end of the year. If this is the case, is the "official" support involve a complete update of the Boot Camp program or just the drivers? The reason I am asking this, is the way I got about installing operating systems is by method of complete clean installs that way everything is functioning correctly and I can perform clean, initial backups to restore from. If the update is to the Boot Camp program as a whole, I don't want to go ahead and install Windows 7, as I can see myself just re-installing it when the "official support" comes out. So should I install it or wait based on the support from Apple?

Windows On Mac :: Cannot Find Windows HD On Startup Holding Option?

Sep 9, 2009

I've used the bootcamp assistant to create a 200 GB partition for Windows. I installled windows 7 x64 on this partition, everything is going well so far. I'm able to press the option key after installation and run windows and perform some updates (note, I couldn't install the required software IN windows from the snow leopard disk, let's hope this is not the source of my problem).

Everything went well so I booted back to OSX and I noticed that I needed some more partitions, so I've split my Macintosh HD further into a Media and a School partition. I didn't touch the windows partition though.

After experiencing (before) with hackintosh computers I know that i have to rewrite the boot configuration of the harddrive. Because now I'm not seeing the Windows HD anymore while holding the option key at startup and therefore unable to boot into Windows anymore. Even parallels can't discover the Windows partition.

I've tried repairing permissions, and nothing. I've tried to use the repair option on the Windows 7 disk which states it can't be done.

What can I do? Do I have to repartition it again in an different order (bootcamp states that it can only create a Windows partition if there's only 1 partition in the harddrive, so it's logical to repartition the drive after bootcamp created the Windows HD or even after the installation of Windows itself). Perhaps I need to rewrite the boot config of the mac, which I don't have a clue about.

Being 64 bit windows is not an issue, because it worked at first (before repartitioning)

Windows On Mac :: Unable To Find Windows 7 Installation Bootcamp

Jul 1, 2010

I seem to be rather confused after reading so many websites which say its possible to install windows 7 upgrade over xp by custom install in bootcamp.

I purchased a windows 7 upgrade which I have downloaded as a ".img" file.

However, bootcamp doesnt recognize my .img disc.

I have tried converting the .img to a .iso, and then burning the .iso as a iso disc, but still no luck. (Im not sure if its because of Active iso software Im using to burn the discs or if im doing something wrong.)

I have a legit version of XP already running via bootcamp.
