Apr 28, 2010
is this for real? I have just calibrated my battery, and it says the maximum battery capacity is 6800mAh (results from coconut battery and sys profiler). ive got a 16 month old 17inch MBP next to me which still has 12500mAh. also, my battery has gone down 7% in 12 minutes!

Coconut Battery:
97%

Am i doing something wrong?? i just calibrated my battery -->

2- Fully charge battery - no usage
3- Keep charging when full for 2 hours
4- Use
Laptop was in box for 2 months, only been using for 2 other months

Why would a battery one day out of the box only be capable of charging to 6808mAH / 6900mAH? Could it just be a matter of the battery not being calibrated yet?

Ever since owning the uMBP, I have kept the battery charged and monthly calibrate it to maintain a 100% battery health. But through this, the laptop limits its portability and it is sometimes extremely tedious to find a plug in order to use it. My question is: Is it really worth it to keep a good battery that will last overtime, or would you prefer simply purchasing a new battery when your old one dies? Also, how big of a difference does a healthy battery compare to a battery put through regular use?

My ibook G4 (running leopard) has a battery that seems to drop from around 75% to the computer shutting down completely (ncluding loss of prefered wifi network) in literally the blink of an eye, with no warning. I have calibrated it. I tried running coconut battery to see its vitals and the program tells me crazy things like it can charge to 12666mAh which we all know is impossible. Any ideas at all? The apple info says it has around 206 cycles on it total. Do I need to just cough up and buy a new battery? I'm hoping not as I just got the computer used through the marketplace and the guy before said he was getting 2-3 hours still.

It's only been a month&half with my MBP 13". Coconut battery claims my MBP is 3 months old now (obviously manufactured 2 months prior to my purchase). Currently I have 8 cycles. 2 calibrations (one on first day, and one yesterday). It went from 98%-97%. Obviously this isn't a big jump, and I know i'm just being paranoid. I don't understand how people on the forum says after calibration your maximum battery capacity should go up, and it refreshes the system or something. It nearly dropped by a 100... What the hell? How do I make it go up? It's only a month old !! Shouldn't it be at 100% or atleast 99%? Some people on this forum claim that they have over 100%+ after MONTHS of usage...

So I got a MacBook on Tuesday and am already noticing something screwy with my battery. On Tuesday I replaced the RAM and HD before even plugging the MAcBook in. I then hooked up the AC adapter and reloaded Leopard. Once Leopard was loaded (hour or so later) I noticed my battery was just sitting at 99%. Finally about 30-45 minutes later it git 100%, so I was happy and brushed it off as an initial charge. So last night when I plugged the MacBook in to use it I was back at 99%! I used the laptop for about 2 hours and never went back to 100% on the battery. So what gives? Did I do something wrong with the initial use/charge? Should I try draining my battery and recharging it?

My macbook battery broke 500 cycles, and the battery life was at about half what it used to be so I ordered what was described as a brand new battery from Westronics, through Amazon. I put the new battery in the machine and checked System Profiler, and it is telling me that the battery has 15 cycles on it already. iStat Nano says the same thing. Is this normal for a new battery to have cycles on it already? Or did I not get a new battery? I just want to make sure I got what I paid for.

I just got this 13-inch MacBook Pro on Friday. Everything I've read absolutely raves about the battery life. However, I only get about 2 hours per charge; I got waaaaay longer on my year-old MacBook I just sold. I have Firefox and Pages running, but nothing else. Am I doing something wrong?

I just got my brand new, 13" MacBook Pro on Friday night. Friday night and Saturday morning it was plugged in to get it all setup and all my files transferred. In the afternoon, I took it off the charger and it said i was going to get 5 hours of life, I researched a bit and found out how to calibrate the battery, which I did last night and plugged it in again this morning.
I'm now in a coffee shop, first time with my MacBook on battery since calibrating it, and the time its supposed to last, is jumping wildly. Right now its says 8:55, but 2 seconds ago it was 6:08, and in the last 5 minutes its jumped as low at 5:32, and as high as 9:13, oh I lied, it just jumped to 9:49 as I was typing this.I used coconut battery and it says 2 cycles and 5850 mAh, 4 weeks old.
Why is it jumping so much? I did the calibration according to Apple's guide. Waited for it to go to go into reserve and then sleep, and then left it for 8 hours while I slept, and when it restarted this morning it said "1%" battery. I don't know what the issue is. My old white macbook jumped but usually a matter of 5-10 minutes, not hours.

So I've had my MBP 13 for 3 weeks and i took a screenshot of coconut battery. I've noticed crappy battery life so does the 94% mean my battery isn't doing as good as it should be? Shouldn't it be at 100 since its new?

so my brand new 13" macbook air arrived last tuesday. over the last few days i've noticed that i only get 2-3 hours of battery life even with the screen brightness nearly all the way down. right now, i have 79% battery life remaining and it only says 2 hours 24 min left. I've only used it for about 30 minutes this morning and it was fully charged. i'm about ready to return it, this is extremely disappointing. anyone else having this issue???

my laptop is less than a month old, but i've noticed when it's plugged in (i don't run on battery power), the battery percentage is going down. not the capacity, but just how much charge the laptop has. (excuse me if i'm using the wrong terms). and in about one-two weeks, the battery goes down past 95% and it starts charging itself.

Is it normal for the battery of an 1 month old MacBook Pro 17" to display the Health status 98% in iStat Pro widget. The MBP is on 4 cycles and the battery was calibrated 2 times: First when I received it and the second time was yesterday.

I finally got sick of my old battery (for my late 2006 macbook) and decided to purchase a new one. The old one would charge, but I would be lucky to get 10 minutes of life out of it at full capacity. I received my replacement today, and while at 25% charge it is capable of powering my laptop for about an hour, when I plug it in with the new battery it does not charge, with the message "Not Charging" appearing in the top menu bar. Is my new battery a dud, or is there something I can do about this?

just came home from Apple Store today with new computer and superdrive, which is not showing up when plugged in. When I put a CD in it reads it for a few seconds then spits it out. I am on the road so getting to an Apple Store will not be easy for the next week.

I am running 2 (early 08) Mac Pros in my studio but try as I might I can't get the two Eizo screens to look the same.
1st MP is 2 x3.2GHz Quad Core with 32 GB Ram and ATI Radeon HD4870 connected via DVI to an Eizo CG211 (Coloredge display).
2nd MP is 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core with14 GB Ram and NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT connect via DVI to an Eizo S2231W (Flexscan display).
The CG211 runs ColorNavigator, Eizo's in built calibration system, (described as hardware calibration) using a Datacolor Spyder 3 sensor.
The S2231W does not have hardware calibration and uses the same sensor Datacolor Spyder 3 and Datacolor's owner software Spyder3Elite 4.0.2.
I am pretty confident that I am running through the calibrations correctly. The ColorNavigator is idiot proof and I have created a similar target on the other machine Temp 6500K, Gamma 2.2, Brightness 90.
The Spyder3Elite is bringing back consistent results, consistent with previous calibrations, but just not the same as the other screen.
In general I would say that the FlexScan Spyder3Elite screen looks warmer (less blue) than the ColorEdge Screen.
They are next to each other on a long workbench so are under fairly similar lighting conditions.
I have spoken with Native Digital who sold me both screens, with Eizo and ColorData, but everyone is fairly unhelpful blaming each other's products and sometimes the graphics cards.

I calibrated my monitor today and now my menu bar is completely black. If I put the mouse there then I can see the items in white. Also, the titles above the icons in the dock are black. In addition, all the menus from the different programs are black also. How to get the normal menu bar, etc. back.

I have looked through previous posts about something called firmware causing problems with a (I am assuming) later version of the DVD writer but can't find anything specific to my one.
Basically my DVD will no longer burn phots or music to disk. I have tried different disks but with no luck , all I get is a message along the lines of the burner is not calibrated.
The computer is a iMac PowerPC G5 running OS X 10.4.11 and the firmware listed for the burner is FA0G.

I have a Macbook Pro Mid-2009 2.26GHz (10.7.4), and have 4GB RAM (2x2 cards), and at the time I changed it, not long after getting it, I am 99% sure it was only possible to get 4GB, but now Crucial is saying it is possible to get 8GB. I would have just got the max RAM possible, so was wondering if something has changed, (an update or something?) that has made it able to put more RAM in. Or, am I just mistaken completely and it was always 8 and I just missed it!
