I just received my Macbook Pro today, pretty excited. I need to put windows 7 on this machine and I was wondering if someone could tell me the best RC version to put on. I actually have a copy of the x86 7100 build but I am under the impression that a 64 bit version would be better. Am I correct in thinking this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac Pro 2008. I just got my second Crucial 256 gig SSD. Wanna make it a Raid 0 with my first one. Here are my thoughts.
Process 1:
1. Use disk utility to restore image of original Crucial 256 SSD to external USB drive
2. Boot up with SL DVD
3. Build Raid 0 using two drives. (do I need to 0 out?)
4. Restore image to Raid 0
5. Boot
Process 2:
1. Boot off DVD
2. Create Raid0
3. Use SL to restore backup from time Machine to Raid 0
4. Boot
I'd like to build a security system for my office, using my 1Tb Time Capsule and connecting wirelessly to it, a couple of video cameras. Ideally, I'd like to allow the video camera to take shoots each while, and save thos on the TC hard drive. Anybody knows if that is possible?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was having problems with Incorrect Valance error message, ran my utilities' repair as advised. I noticed that my PowerPC G4 shows the OS as 10.3.9. Went to look at the disk that came with my Mac that I carry in my case - It says it's Version 10.4.2. Should I try to install this on my Hard drive? If I do, will it cause me any problems/will I lose anything? I have moved not that long ago, and almost all of my stuff is still boxed up, so no back up drive to mirror my drive to. I can't remember if I had to install the OS on my Mac when I bought it in '05 or not, but the disk that has the OS says it contains a later OS version than what my mac's "About this Mac" states.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been archiving old creative work by copying from a mac server network share onto my external HDD and then burning to DVD.However I am now noticing that while the font files appear to be burned they are attempting to open in terminal on the macs and have 0kb file size.Attempting to figure out why I am browsing to current jobs from the win7 machine and noticing that these also have 0kb file size. But from the mac server they appear fine.

I'm using an Intel iMac running OS 10.4.11. Obviously the computer is a few years old now and I'm wondering whether it is worth upgrading the system software or time to get a new computer. Can you guys venture any opinions as to which version of OS X I might be able to upgrade to with decent performance? The second MBA's display lighting is much brighter especially at the edge of the screen. So the colours are worse and the black is not black any more. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm basically after some suggestions or advice. There are two of us in this house both with two macs each and so all our machines are running OS X. I have downstairs my parents old desktop machine (Core2 Duo) running XP blah blah blah. But they have laptops now and aren't in the country atm. I want to put a new hard drive into this machine and create a server.
Our needs are fairly basic. This server needs to be a file server (for ~ 2TB HDD space), a print server but also a MySQL and PHP server. So far I've fired up iATKOS 10.5.5 onto the machine but I'm trying to keep this operation as legal as possible.My question is really about a linux server. A linux server is able to host a bunch of HFS+ partitions because I've tested that out before but I'm not sure it would work as a print server. How compatible would OS X be with a server (as described) running something like ubuntu or ubuntu server edition?
Just curious is any one is using this build for every day use? I have a vacation coming up and thought I might install and try it out until my retail copy ships in Sept since I have some free time on my hands.
