I recently updated to Snow Leopard. The transition went very well except for one thing. When I try to open up Photo Booth, it says that it is not compatible with this version of Mac OS X (10.6.1). It also states that it is Photo Booth 2.0.3. Just to let you know, I do not have the backup CD's at the moment.

Have just installed 10.7.4. Now, I finally have to hose PPC (and even some hangover Classic) applications. I know, I know, I should have done it earlier, before even Snow Leopard. For me, the easiest place to ID them is in ABOUT THIS MAC ➜ MORE INFO ➜ SYSTEM REPORT ➜ SOFTWARE ➜ APPLICATIONS ➜ which in the sub categories of CLASSIC and PPC are rosters of > 250 items. How to trash them from this window? Or elsewhere? I’ve tried click-and-drag (both singly and by batch) delete (both singly and by batch), all unsuccessfully.

I am trying to transfer my applications from my emac 10.2.8 os to my new iMac w/Snow Leopard OS. I have transferred the HD by way of Migration Assistant and firewire cable to the iMac. Whenever I try to open an application such as IPhoto from the HD icon I get "you cannot use this version of iphoto with the Imac version" or something to that effect. I have Iphoto 2.0.1. It is similar with other applications.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to figure out how iPhoto stores its photos. I've heard that it stores multiple copies of my pictures. I started wondering what was going on when, after importing all my pictures into iPhoto, I started to remove red eye from some pictures. I noticed that after removing the red eye and saving and closing iPhoto, if I opened it back up and looked at the photos that I removed the red eye from... not sure how to describe this, but basically the pictures opened up with 'blurry' eyes and then they focused in and were sharp and had no red eye. It wasn't like after I removed the red eye the picture was saved in that state, but rather the photo was marked as having red eye in an area and every time its opened the red eye is removed.
After some searching, I noticed it keeps a copy of the original and the edited version. However, I don't want to keep the original if I accept the edited. I don't know if it needs the original and it just marks the area of the original to remove the red eye each time it's opened. I'm curious if I was to email the picture if the recipient would see red eye or not. This post says I can delete the originals folder [URL] but if I examine my iphoto library, my originals folder has 1.3gb and the next biggest folder (modified) is 75mb so I think all the photos are stored in the originals and I don't want to delete them. Why does the red eye edit itself out each time rather than saving that way?

I want to start organizing, tagging etc my photos I have 1000's so its gonna be a big job.
Looking at tutorials on the web etc, it looks like in your Home folder it has edited versions and original versions of all pics that you have, so basically whatever size your library is, its twice the size (on the ones you've edited)
Is this correct? and is it worth keeping the originals? Photos (along with vids and music) is the one thing I want to backup separate to another HDD, along with the backup already using Time Machine, or is this overkill (ie just one copy on iMac and one in Time machine is enough)
So should I backup the iPhoto library with the originals and the edited in or just the final edited versions? what do others do please.
Also if I have tagged everything in iPhoto, if I copy the actual pics to a Windows PC, does all the tagging go with the pics? eg as per iTunes I done a lot of tagging in there, but the tags are in the actual music file so when I play it on a Windows PC, Xbox 360 etc the tags are ok read by it.
When trying to update, I keep getting the pop-up:"We could not complete your requestThere was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)". How can I update to the new version? Im running on the OS X Lion 10.7.4 system for Macbook Pro I have the Version 9.2 of iPhoto and 6.0.4 of Garageband. If that's of any assistance.

Just bought a Macbook Air running 10.9.4 and was trying to transfer iPhoto library from our old laptop via an external HD.
After I copied the old library to Pictures folder, iPhoto prompted me to install and run upgraded.
I did that but when I try to open iPhoto it still prompts me "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." after I click upgrade it shuts down immediately. When I try to access the library as described above, it only opens what I believe is called a package.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was having problems with Incorrect Valance error message, ran my utilities' repair as advised. I noticed that my PowerPC G4 shows the OS as 10.3.9. Went to look at the disk that came with my Mac that I carry in my case - It says it's Version 10.4.2. Should I try to install this on my Hard drive? If I do, will it cause me any problems/will I lose anything? I have moved not that long ago, and almost all of my stuff is still boxed up, so no back up drive to mirror my drive to. I can't remember if I had to install the OS on my Mac when I bought it in '05 or not, but the disk that has the OS says it contains a later OS version than what my mac's "About this Mac" states.

I believe my computer must have automatically downloaded and upgraded the version I previously had. Now I get an error message that reads: The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete. I still need my images able to be read by previous versions since I go back and forth editing between older desktops. Is there a way to access the photo library without okaying the upgrade? If I reinstall an older version of iPhoto, will I lose the existing library of photos?

I believe it should, but yet I do not know the reason why it will not open. I recently purchased the Bamboo Pen & Touch for my gf and it came with the PSE8 software. I Installed the PSE8 on her iMac (Which she purchased the Black Friday that passed.) But before installing the PSE8 on the iMac, the Bamboo installer was installed first. Maybe I need to install the Bamboo installer before installing the PSE8 software that was included with the Tablet product?
