MacBook :: Browser Pages Take Forever To Load
Feb 27, 2012
Every time I open Safari or Firefox, the pages take forever to load. I keep getting the color wheel and often have to force quit. I don't think it's the internet signal because I've tried it in 2 different locations (home and work) and the results are the same. I can't load videos (like those on Hulu). My computer memory is about half full, so I don't think it's that. This is a recent problem (within the last week).

I have a 5-year old intel MacBook that I use strictly for browsing. In the last week or so, Facebook pages have taken forever to load. I have a 10mpbs internet connection (DSL) and all other pages load just tine on this computer. I have another Macbook with Snow Leopard (about 2 years old) and Facebook loads on it just fine. I've tried Safari and Firefox and I get the same results.

For some reason, certain websites (like IGN, Mac Rumor Forums, Gamespy) take 5 minutes or longer to load on my Mac Mini than on my other machines. I have a PC running Vista, Mac Book Pro, iPhone, and iPad and they have no issues loading these websites normally. Both my Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro are running the exact same setup and have 10.6.3. This happens with in both Safari and Firefox. It isn't my wireless router because the other machines are fine and don't have this issue. I did however reset the router a few times to see if that might be it... and no go. Still the same. I have the latest versions of the browsers too.

A couple of weeks ago facebook stopped loading on my mac. I thought it might be a virus or something, so I restored my mac and now use a different web browser (google chrome instead of safari). Facebook still doesn't load unless I delete my history, and even then it just opens the first page and then stops, and now Yahoo doesn't load either. The other computers & the iPad in my house load everything just fine, and when I took my computer to a friend's house, Facebook and Yahoo worked on their internet. Why is it just my computer that's unable to load these web pages on my specific home internet

I began to have this same problem on my old MacBook within the last year...but I now have a brand spanking new MacBook Air (as in 1 week old) and it's worse than ever. Â
Extremely often - sometimes 2 out of 3 webpages, it seems - the browzer says it can't find the server or otherwise won't open a page (takes veeeery long to do so. Then eventually gives me a "can't find" screen when I try to click around.). There's nothing wrong w the internet - it works just fine on my husband's computer. Sometimes it helps to switch browzers but mostly not.

I have a MacBook Pro, and its been working, but when I try to download pages from the app store, it won't work. The little load icon appears and the "buy app" button turns light grey, but after this, is does nothing. I've left it on for a full 24 hours, and it still sat there.

how I can speed up my internet. [URL]is says that I have a 10.71 mbps download and 1.34 mbps upload but for some reason my internet is always slow to load web pages etc. There a quite a few internet connected devices in my house (up to ten (iphones computers, xbox), but not all being used at once of course, with 2 Airport Extreme base stations.) Is this an interference problem or what?

I tried ringing apple but unbeknownst to me my warranty has expired so wanted to see could I fix it before using money that was intended for my new iPhone. Right, so yesterday I used a friends o2 dongle and I was asked did I want to save internet settings, I said yes - not knowing what I was saving (silly silly).
I had to do work at my old college but was unable to connect to wifi. Went to the IT lads and they fixed it - sort of - I could access the Internet but no sites that required a log in eg gmail facebook.
I am now at home and on my iPod typing this as my Mbp won't connect to the Internet! It was connecting to the wifi provider, have full signal but won't load the pages. I know it can't be the wifi as my iPod works fine.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro and I've noticed that there seems to be a problem with the web browser/ intermet connection... I turn on my Mac and the internet works fine, it's fast and loads everything but then the web pages won't load and the blur bar stops at a certain point and I usually have to end up turning my wifi on, then waiting for a while then turning it back on.Sometimes it doesn't work and sometimes it does. It's really quite frustrating. The thing is, the wifi works fine on my ipod and I haven't encountered any similar problems like on my Mac.

I have OS 10.9.4, with Safari 7.0.6. Most of the time I cannot load any pages with Safari, even though my IMac can. The two machines have exactly the same software, and are connected to the same Comcast wireless. The problem briefly goes away. But after loading only a few web pages, the problem returns. The browser begins to load a page, and then hangs. When a page does load, it is much slower than on the desktop.

Basically, my iMac can't load [URL] on Firefox, Chrome and safari. Â
It first happened when I use the firefox address bar to google something. The web page didn't load and said "The connection was reset: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.", Then I try it on Chrome to go to google.com. The web page didn't load and said "No Data received: Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data."Â Then I try it on Safari. The web page didn't load and said
"Safari cant open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

Recently our laptops at home won't connect to wireless internet. I have a Mac and my mother has a PC I believe, either way neither will allow us to load internet pages, both, however, say we are connected. I'm assuming since both computers are doing this it has something to do with the modem or router. Is there anything we can do to fix it right away or do we have to get ahold of our internet provider for them to fix it?

I'm running a 2x3.2 quad core g5 with 12 gigs of ram, but lately, my browser speeds have plummeted. Regardless of browser (default is firefox, but it also happens in chrome and safari), my pages are loading extremely slowly. However, the web browser(s) seems to be the only part of the internet that's lagging. World of Warcraft ping is almost always around 30ms, even a time zone away. And my speed tests verify that everything is fine - 5/6 megs down, and .5-.6 megs up.
what would be slowing my browser down? Funny thing is the only site that loads as it should is a google search through the toolbar of firefox. Any other bookmarked site takes 3-5 seconds at the very least...sometimes up to 10-15+ seconds.

My macbook is just over three months old, the other day my wireless internet connection cut out on it, but soon came back. Since then Safari is moving very slowly, every other page fails to load or will take up to a minute. To login to a page such as email or facebook is nearly impossible. When i have a page that will not load, the blue status in the url box usually doesnt go past the // in the http://, and it almost never fully reaches the end of the box Ive tried resetting safari and emptying the cache and it didnt help. I also contacted Comcast to see if it was a connection issue, but they found no problems.

I have a Macbook running Leopard and am having problems with the wireless internet at home. Everything works fine when I take my computer other places - just not at home. The trouble is that while some pages load fine, others do not display correctly or simply don't even load at all. The other computers on this network (all PCs) run fine, so I am guessing that it has something to do with settings on my computer, the router, or both. Unfortunately, though, I have no idea what to try.

I have this very annoying issue with my Mac. (I have OSX v.10.7.3 Safari v. 5.1.5) Very often when I try to open a webpage it takes forever to load and eventually I either get a “Safari can’t open the page because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.” message or the page loads partially-no pictures or with a strange layout. After that when I re-lunch the page it shows up instantly. The strange thing is that when I don’t wait but instead quit and re-lunch Safari while it's loading the page, it loads straightaway. I can also turn my Internet connection on and off again and same thing happens. (WiFi or cable- it doesn’t matter) The problem is that I have to do it every time I click on a link. You can imagine what happens when I try to open more than one tab or window. This also happens on Chrome on my Mac but my Toshiba Win XP works perfectly so I don’t think it’s the modem or wifi. I don’t have any antivirus installed, no mackeepers either.

I have an Early 2011 13in MBP.For the last two days, I have had issues with web pages not loading on my MBP. Sometimes I can get a page to load and then after a few minutes of web browsing, the pages will no longer load. I was able to get the issue to "reset" by turning the wifi off and then back on, but now the pages will not load at all.
I tried using Google Chrome and Safari, but both browsers have the same issue. The last time that I used the computer was Friday. I did install a CAC reader on Friday and was able to use the computer that morning, but since yesterday the pages have stopped loading.

I upgraded my internet yesterday to 100Mbps, and received a modem + router combo from my ISP (Charter). It is a Netgear CG3000D and I have another router hooked up, which is a Cisco/Linksys E3200. The problem I'm encountering is extremely slow page speeds, it'll take from 3 to 5 minutes for pages to load. My first thought was DNS, but of course I tried Google's Public DNS and OpenDNS. Unfortunately, they did not work. I called both the ISP and router manufacturer, but still no luck. I called Apple, but I'm not paying $49 for additional support. I'm assuming my Mac is caching something it's not supposed to. I do not live near an Apple store to see what's wrong. I went into safe mode and the issue still hasn't been resolved. There's multiple devices working fine, and I've noticed when my Mac is connected to my router, my PC goes haywire as well. And FYI -- I connected my iMac directly to the ISP's modem/router and it didn't work either.

I upgraded to Safari 5.7.1 and after that I cannot load pdf pages any longer. Prior to that version, pdf pages would load as usual in "Safari" format. Now, if I want to see the pages I need to control click the URL and ask for the pdf document to be copied in a folder. I can always go back to the previous version with Time Machine.
