MacBook :: WiFi Says Connected But Safari And Firefox Don't Load Pages

Apr 25, 2012

Recently our laptops at home won't connect to wireless internet. I have a Mac and my mother has a PC I believe, either way neither will allow us to load internet pages, both, however, say we are connected. I'm assuming since both computers are doing this it has something to do with the modem or router. Is there anything we can do to fix it right away or do we have to get ahold of our internet provider for them to fix it?

MacBook Pro :: Using Wifi - Connected To Internet But Pages Won't Load?

Jul 30, 2010

I tried ringing apple but unbeknownst to me my warranty has expired so wanted to see could I fix it before using money that was intended for my new iPhone. Right, so yesterday I used a friends o2 dongle and I was asked did I want to save internet settings, I said yes - not knowing what I was saving (silly silly).

I had to do work at my old college but was unable to connect to wifi. Went to the IT lads and they fixed it - sort of - I could access the Internet but no sites that required a log in eg gmail facebook.

I am now at home and on my iPod typing this as my Mbp won't connect to the Internet! It was connecting to the wifi provider, have full signal but won't load the pages. I know it can't be the wifi as my iPod works fine.

Intel Mac :: WiFi Connected But No Internet - Failed To Load Pages

Jun 6, 2012

I just bought a new iMac yesterday at the Apple store. I connected it at home to install a few programs, and the internet worked perfectly. (I also own an older iMac plus a unibody Macbook.) I go to the office today, and the wireless and ethernet cables connect and show bars, but fail to load any pages off the internet. All of the other computers in the office are PCs and connect perfectly fine to the internet using both wifi and ethernet cables. It's just the iMac.

Applications :: Way To Make Safari Load Pages More Efficiently Like Firefox

Jul 29, 2010

Firefox' site rendering is much more fluid than Safari's. Safari loads the BACKGROUND again and again with each click completely upsetting the eye. Firefox has the background steadily black as it is and loads the randomized image properly without any kind of irritation. Is there a way to make Safari load pages more efficiently like Firefox?Or is it just a rendering of all WebKit browsers that behaves like that?

IMac (Intel) :: WiFi Connection - Some Pages Don't Load

Sep 6, 2014

For the last 2 weeks my wifi connection has been playing up. I use Wifi and my iMac connects directly to my router and it works slow if at all as some pages don't load. I can get by but its frustrating using it and this problem is specific to my iMac as every other device using Wifi works fine. These devices, that work fine, include mobile phones and a MacBook Pro.

I'm using Chrome and its the same with other browsers. I usually get a "resolving host' message in the taskbar when loading pages. Sometimes pages do not load at all or they are slow to load and at times some elements like images don't appear. My OS X is 10.9.4.

MacBook Air :: Browser Won't Open Pages (neither Firefox Nor Safari)

Jul 6, 2012

I began to have this same problem on my old MacBook within the last year...but I now have a brand spanking new MacBook Air (as in 1 week old) and it's worse than ever.

Extremely often - sometimes 2 out of 3 webpages, it seems - the browzer says it can't find the server or otherwise won't open a page (takes veeeery long to do so. Then eventually gives me a "can't find" screen when I try to click around.). There's nothing wrong w the internet - it works just fine on my husband's computer. Sometimes it helps to switch browzers but mostly not.

I have OS 10.9.4, with Safari 7.0.6.  Most of the time I cannot load any pages with Safari, even though my IMac can.  The two machines have exactly the same software, and are connected to the same Comcast wireless. The problem briefly goes away.  But after loading only a few web pages, the problem returns.  The browser begins to load a page, and then hangs.  When a page does load, it is much slower than on the desktop.

MacBook :: Safari Won't Even Use WiFi Correctly, Firefox Works 90% Of The Time?

1. Incredibly flaky wireless. Safari won't even use WiFi correctly, Firefox works 90% of the time, but sometimes it just kicks my WiFi off. Same with Windows XP in VMWare.3. Above all, I'll be in the middle of doing a project, AND IT WILL DEMAND I TURN IT OFF? Why!? Why would I want to turn it off? It makes me for god's sakes, and I lose whatever I was doing. See the picture attached below, it's happened half a dozen time in five days, and no way to stop it.

OS X :: Unable To Load Images On Firefox/Safari?

Feb 25, 2008

I've avoided asking this question for over a year but I just can't take it anymore.

Ever since I got my first macbook pro(Tiger) in 2006, I've had a pretty poor web-surfing experience when it comes to pages with a large quantity of images.

Whether it's in Firefox or Safari, it seems it takes forever to load jpegs, gifs, pngs, etc., much slower than in Windows.

And more often than not, it'll often just stop trying to load some of the images and leave empty frames instead. An annoying side effect of these situations is that I won't be able to load other websites in separate tabs until I wait 2 or 3 minutes at least.

It almost mimics what happens when you just plain lose your internet connection. My best example is www.fark.com.

Sometimes posters will post large quantities of images, 100+. Heck, what am I saying, sometimes it's not even that much but Firefox and Safari will still choke trying to retrieve the pictures.

I set aside the macbook for this very reason because I often open multiple tabs at once when I surf..and if one of those tabs just happen to be image-intensive, my whole surfing experience will grind to a halt until whatever process is happening times itself out.

I THOUGHT the problem would be fixed with Leopard..but it hasn't. I've searched the forums but I haven't found anything useful, although I've caught small stories here and there of people having the same issue, but nothing widespread.

The whole problem starts with image files...and sometimes it doesn't necessarily need large quantities to choke. Just a modest amount will do sometimes.

Any ideas?? Is it my router? (WRT54G) My DSL connection? (Yahoo SBC) It happens on either wireless or with cable. My windows boxes don't have this problem.

Not having images load is bad enough, but having your browser stall is just insufferable! (I'm also using a brand new Macbook Pro so this problem stems across two revisions)

OS X :: Safari Will Not Fully Load Pages / How To Fix It

Jun 1, 2009

My macbook is just over three months old, the other day my wireless internet connection cut out on it, but soon came back. Since then Safari is moving very slowly, every other page fails to load or will take up to a minute. To login to a page such as email or facebook is nearly impossible. When i have a page that will not load, the blue status in the url box usually doesnt go past the // in the http://, and it almost never fully reaches the end of the box Ive tried resetting safari and emptying the cache and it didnt help. I also contacted Comcast to see if it was a connection issue, but they found no problems.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Can't Load Pages On Safari?

May 3, 2012

I have this very annoying issue with my Mac. (I have OSX v.10.7.3 Safari v. 5.1.5) Very often when I try to open a webpage it takes forever to load and eventually I either get a “Safari can’t open the page because the server where this page is located isn’t responding.” message or the page loads partially-no pictures or with a strange layout. After that when I re-lunch the page it shows up instantly. The strange thing is that when I don’t wait but instead quit and re-lunch Safari while it's loading the page, it loads straightaway. I can also turn my Internet connection on and off again and same thing happens. (WiFi or cable- it doesn’t matter) The problem is that I have to do it every time I click on a link. You can imagine what happens when I try to open more than one tab or window. This also happens on Chrome on my Mac but my Toshiba Win XP works perfectly so I don’t think it’s the modem or wifi. I don’t have any antivirus installed, no mackeepers either.

Safari :: Pages Cannot Load In It Or Chrome

May 15, 2012

I have an Early 2011 13in MBP.For the last two days, I have had issues with web pages not loading on my MBP. Sometimes I can get a page to load and then after a few minutes of web browsing, the pages will no longer load. I was able to get the issue to "reset" by turning the wifi off and then back on, but now the pages will not load at all.

I tried using Google Chrome and Safari, but both browsers have the same issue. The last time that I used the computer was Friday. I did install a CAC reader on Friday and was able to use the computer that morning, but since yesterday the pages have stopped loading.

Safari :: It Cannot Load Pages And Quits

May 23, 2012

I have a MacBookPro5,5 with 8 gigs RAM and a clean/new install of Lion 10.7.4 on a newly formatted and parittioned HD using the GUID partition table. Safari will not open ANY web page. I have also installed both Chrome and FireFox. Both function normally, downloading and displaying web pages without any problems. Mail works fine but Safari opens to no page displayed and will not open any pages. Most of the time, when attempting to open any web page, www.apple.com included, Safari will crash. I've deleted all system items related to Safari and reloaded the current and several previous versions of Safari with the same results. I've also booted from an external drive and used "Disk Utility" to both repair and rebuild permissions on the internal drive. Have also run the current "Disk Warrior" to test the internal drive. Both utilities found no issues on the drive and every other piece of software works as advertised yet Safari refuses to work.

Applications :: Using Safari - Won't Load Web Pages After 10 Minutes?

Dec 8, 2003

i'm having some serious problems with Safari.

i have already had to quit it 3 times today because it just wouldn't load web pages. i'm typing this in Opera now...

i can open web pages fine when i freshly open Safari, but then if i leave it for about 10 minutes, then come back and want to use it again, it's useless, and so far i haven't been able to access anything if i leave Safari open for more than 10 minutes.

i've just got the Security Update 2003-12-05 which is supposed to fix some Safari stuff... but this problem hasn't really started until yesterday.
