MacBook Pro :: What Is Best Backup Method

Jun 10, 2012

What is the best way to back up ALL info on my MacBook Pro in case it is lost or damaged?  It appears that iCloud does not back up documents and photos?  It seems iCloud's main purpose is to share info between Apple devices, not intended for backing up the computer. Should I just get an external hard drive?

OS X :: Apple Mail RSS Folder Is Huge - Clean Up?

May 2, 2009

I checked my mail folder in library and the RSS subfolder is 4.32GB. It seems to me that Mail doesnt delete the previous RSS articles (although I have deleted them from inside the mail) hence the massive size of the folder. I tried deleting the folder, but then all the RSS feeds were gone when I launched Mail again. Is there anyway to reduce the size of this folder and delete the old articles without having to delete all the RSS feeds (and the folder itself?

OS X :: Best Method For Cloning Drives From IMac To MacBook?

Jan 20, 2009

I use my iMac for my media business, however I will be on the road more this year, and so I was going to put all my files, apps etc over to my work's MacBook so I can get things done for my clients while I'm on the go. Of course the thing is all my apps, files etc are lodged in the iMac, so I thought that the only way to avoid manually reinstalling stuff (and then have to move it all back to the iMac again) was to clone the user account or drive? Is there a way that this can be done?

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Reinstall Apple Software After Clean Install On 2009 IMac?

Jun 24, 2012

Completed a clean install of Lion on 2009 IMac, which initially reacted poorly to an upgrade (my first attempt to move to Lion). How do I reinstall iPhoto, Garageband, Aperture, Final Cut Express, iMovie, Logic Express? These were all preinstalled with original purchase. How would I find the serial numbers that will inevitably be asked for? The App store wants to charge for these items, and other non-Apple software I've purchased for the App store won't download again.

MacBook :: WiFi Antenna Cables Stuck Suffered From Excessive Pressure

Oct 18, 2009

Does your first gen MacBook have WiFi problems? Here's why mine has. I opened it for the first time, and here's what I found. These are the WiFi antennas cables: They've been cut by the simply opening and closing the display, for more than three years. The cables are stuck in a bad place and suffer from excessive pressure and contortion. Of course my Apple care is finished... but all these wifi problems in the apple support forum make me think every first gen macbook is concerned [URL] This is a MacBook Core Duo 2.0 ghz (Early 2006).

Mac Pro :: What SATA Cables Need To Connect

Nov 6, 2010

Recently I tried installing a 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" enclosure (Icy Dock) in one of the internal drive bays in my Mac Pro. The enclosure was defective, apparently, because the SATA ports on the enclosure didn't quite line up with the internal SATA ports in the MP drive bay. Unfortunately, I pushed a little too hard to get it in and I ended up bending the metal brackets that the black plastic SATA port is screwed on to in the Mac Pro.

The result is that the SATA port is now bend down at about a 10% angle, which is enough to prevent me from sliding a hard drive in and connecting it. I've tried to bend it back to the normal angle, but I wasn't successful.
