OS X :: Should I Reinstall Snow Leapord For The Best Method

Ever since I updated to Snow Leapord on my mac book pro the computer has started to lag badly. I have used onyx to see if that could fix anything but still running slow. Since I used to be a windows user I am used to just trashing everything and doing a fresh install. I have no idea if this is the best option for a mac.Before I think about reinstalling I would like to know how I can check what could be slowing my computer down. I only have a basic knowledge of macs so any advice where I should look would be great. (I am a power user of PC but got annoyed of it just not working)

I bought Snow Leapord when it was originally released but never installed it. But now I wanted to go ahead and finally get rid of Leapord, but was wondering if the copies of SL that Apple sells in the stores are updated already with the latest updates or are they just the same original CD from the initial launch?I would prefer to install SL which has all the latest updates and Boot Camp drivers already on the disk.I know it won't be exactly up to date, but fairly recent.

I know there are lots of threads on this forum about Windows 7 and Snow Leopard but the point of this board is to have discussion and here is my point of view....Snow Leopard will not be competing with Windows 7.Snow Leopard, as Apple have more or less said, is a maintenance release to pave the way for the latest hardware and software. Let's all get excited about Mac OS 10.7, this will be the OS that will be a contender to Windows 7.Windows 7 is more or less competing with Windows XP and Windows Vista. If Windows 7 does not have a large adoption, Microsoft is screwed. People love Windows XP and don't want to jump ship. Besides some new touch technologies built into the OS, what can Windows 7 offer people they do not already have with XP? Or better yet, with Vista?

I have a new MBP 13" 2.26 with no up grades I have heard that Snow Leapord needs a lot of memory if so will I have to up grade my MBP I just do a little video on home movies. I also have my 2 year 20" Imac 2.4 with 4G memory will this be able to run Snow Leapord the way it is set up.

is there a way to change the doc in snow leapord yet.... when i had leapord i had a sweet hard wood floor dock... and now its this regular grey (after i updated to snow).. is there an application like leapord docks that will change my dock?

Just recently updated my OS to snow leopard. Problem is I can no longer print to my Lexmark E322 via Ethernet directly from my computer. I don't have an external router and never had a problem printing directly from my iMac or from other computers to my printer. I did install the recent printer driver from the Lexmark site but no luck I've contacted them twice, both times helpful, but unfortunately I still can't print. I desperately need to print something soon as I have already wasted so much time on getting this thing going... lost sleep over this as I need to do a presentation on PAPER Maybe I shouldn't have upgraded my system to 10.6? My Lexmark has never failed me in the past... and I'm in no position to go out and buy another printer at this time.

ive had my macbook for about 1 and a half years, and just recently, when i got Snow Leapord, i tried to install it, and then i turned it on and it got stuck at the gray screeni fixed it by wiping my hard drive and reinstalling Snow Leapord, and then it worked finethis has happened 4 times, and the fix wont work like it did the first 3 timesi even tried to restore it from a time machine backup, but even that gave me an

My small business has an office iMAC and a Macbook Air both running 10.6.8. The two aren't synced in any way other than that the Air can access files from the iMAC's hard drive via the network. I have 2 email accounts on the iMAC's mail and just one of them set up on the Air.
I've just bought a new 15" Macbook Pro running Lion. I'd like to be able to sync some folders (but definitely not all), bookmarks, iTunes and mail accounts between the iMAC and the new Macbook Pro. Ideally I'd like to be able to access the shared/synced folders when I don't have an internet connection
What's the best method?
Snow Leapord doesn't have iCloud does it? If not, why the **** not?
Is it just easiest to set up the email accounts on the new MBP as normal and then use dropbox for the folders I want to share? Can I access the with no internet connection?
One other question, can i link a gmail account to my Apple mail?

I use a MAC Book Pro with duel intel processors. I have never had a problem reading my hotmail in my safari browser. I also read it in Entourage. After I installed Snow Leapord I have had one small problem and can not figure it out. This problem only happens in Safari when I read some e mails. The letters of the words in the mail are scattered and unreadable. If I copy and paste the text it is readable and looks fine. If I go to Fwd. the message, it is sent in a readable manner. This does not happen in entourage ever. The following is what it looks like on some messages. In the past I got messages from this sender and others with no problems.

Basically, I created a BC partition for my W7, however, I only gave it 32gigs of space (I only wanted to use it for gaming).However, now I want to install Autodesk 3D Studio Max 2010 on W7, however I don't have enough space on my BC partition to do that...I've researched enough to know that I will need to use one of the following programs:I've read up on all the programs and done some research on them.
Ive noticed most people are having problems with all of these programs when trying to backup a W7 image whilst on Snow Leapord (Mac OS x 10.6, which I am running)I know that is the function of the 3 applications above... But to my knowledge... In theory - I should be able to just backup my W7 using a reliable backup program (Can someone recommend any?) and then delete the existing BootCamp partition, create a new one of 100gig and then just load up the backed up image for Windows 7...

Long story short, wanted to reinstall the OS cos it was acting up, performance-wise. SuperDrive hasn't functioned in years, so that's a no. Remote Install via PC doesn't work, this feature is limited to MacBook Airs. And finally, an external DVD drive didn't do the job, cos even after starting install - once it reboots, something in the OS tells it not to read from the external. Hours were put into these attempts!
Is there any other possible way to reinstall Snow Leopard?

I wanted to test out the SnowLeopard, but as i know, its not ready for use as main os use.
I burned the snowleopard onto a dvd, installed it "live" in the os, and works.
But when i take the installation disc's that i got whit my Mb Air in the cd tray (external superdrive) i get one option, and thats to hit restart and boot up from cd to install, but when it boots up again and the chime and gray apple logo screen shows up, the cd is spinning up but after 1min its restarting again. This it goes forever.
What should i do?
I have tried different install disc's, and the computer is a MacBookAir.
And Apple Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (Build 10A380) are installed...

I was just wondering if when I install Snow Leopard if it will remove all the Leopard applications and replace them with Snow Leopard-formatted applications, or if it will just edit the applications to work with Snow Leopard. Photo Booth is broken on my computer and I don't want to Archive and Install unless it's the absolute last resort.

Got a kernel panic. I believe it be caused by a small piece of software that powers some touch screen technology that my company works with - software I was testing with my MacBook. As with Audacity though, sadly, some apps just don't translate well over to Mac. The uninstaller won't work. Also, my drive is seeking way too much, and I've got a lot of clutter. This image on my 17" is actually a holdover from my 13" over a year ago. Kudos to Apple for the seamless transition, but I think it's time for a clean slate.
Here's my challenge.
I'm not worried about the apps. I've got a tally of what I need and I can go get them again pretty easily. I'm also not worried about custom configurations - the dock was easy to tweak as was some of the settings. What I need to make sure I grab is the files that are not system files. Instead of restoring from Time Machine, I plan to reinstall the OS completely fresh, then install the latest versions of the apps, then copy back over my files. According to what I've read on Migration Assistant (and I did MRoogle it first), there is not an easy way to selectively pick and choose files that I want to migrate. Is that accurate?

It looks like I'm going to have to reinstall OS X on my laptop because it's just generally unstable. I just have a question about the upgrade disk that I bought for $30 from apple.
On Windows 7, if you purchase the upgrade disk, it even allows you to reinstall a fresh copy of windows as long as your able to present a vista disk and show that you own a copy. Is that the same for Snow leopard? Or do I have to reinstall OS X Leopard and then proceed to upgrade?

After my intel iMac froze when running Snow Leopard, I was forced to restart it, and it turned out the HD was corrupted. But after erasing it and performing repair disk, everything is now ok. But since the failure it refuses to reinstall usually giving the message "an error occured when intalling Mac OS X"
For the last few, very frustrating days, I've tried everything I have read on the net: resetting PRAM, checking the HD is set as GUID, erasing and repairing the HD numeous times, performing hardware tests. Even slaughtering farm yard animals. Basically everything. And still it won't install.
I really am at my wits end, and to make matters worse, the genius bar here in Tokyo is so busy I can't get a reservation til Friday evening.

I have 2 iMac G5's both running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.Suddenly one decided that it woud not allow Photoshop 9 (CS1) to work so I tried to reinstall. It seems to reinstall but will still not save files. Tried to reinstall Photoshop CS2, and the whole CS2 suite and the discs will not load at all. I have tested the disc in the other iMac and it's fine. I have tried all the obvious repair routes - disc utility, restarting from the system CD, creating a new user, software updates, but still cannot get any of teh Adobe sofatware to reinstall properly.

I need help to reinstall the software for my Lexmark Z615 printer. Due to other problems on the MacBook, I had to wipe the hard drive and start over. When I did, I could not find the CD-ROM with the software for the printer. I am still looking for it. I then went to the Lexmark website and downloaded the "Lexmark Utility Web Installer.dmg" for the Z600 series. I opened that file and activated the "Z600 Series Utility." That led me to a window that asked for the "printer software." I looked at the list of "printer software" offered by the utility, and none of them was for the Z615. I chose another one more or less at random and tried to print with it. Of course, the printer did not operate. I have gone into "printer setup," and here is where I am:
I am at the limit of what I know about setting up printers. Does anyone have any advice for what I should do next to get the printer to operate?
