I am trying to uninstall Virex 7.5. I have got the Terminal uninstall command which opens Terminal. So far, so good. However, Terminal is asking me for my admin password but it's not allowing me to enter it. The cursor is not blinking it's just a solid black oblong - just bl**dy sitting there! Absolutely no response to any key except the enter key - then terminal helpfully says, 'Sorry, try again' What's going on? I just wanna get rid of Virex!!!

I recently purchased a powerbook G4 running version 10.5.8. I am able to login to everything and set my username as the administrator, but I can not set a password for it, if i try to input a password or change the password I get an error message saying I have input an incorrect password. When I purchased the computer everything was blank except for the user name was set as mac user, as I said I was able to change the username but not the password.

I am trying to run Cache Out. The program asks for the system password. I type in my usual password that I use for installing programs, or trashing stuff from the system folder... It won't allow me to run the program, saying the password is wrong.

Yes I know other people have posted this and gotten the answer that you just put it ion anyways and you wont see it come up but it works. Well I do not actually have a password set so usually I just hit enter with it blank but when I do that in Terminal it says sorry wrong password or something until I hit the 3rd try and it boots me.

I have a 17" MBP. The last model with the silver keys. I seem to have picked up an annoying sound effect that plays itself at random. Actually its two. A door opening, then a door closing. I have deleted my browser history & cookies but its still there. Where can this little bugger be found and how do I banish it forever?

I've set up a new iMac and it asks me for my password every time I turn it on. I've looked in all the places I can think of to bypass it and all I've succeeded in doing is that it now asks for both my name and my password. How to fix it?

A while ago, I set a firmware password on my Unibody MBP's HD and now I'd like to remove it. (I haven't forgotten it or anything, I'd just like to remove it)
I did it using the Leopard install DVD (firmware password utility) but when I open that utility again, there's no option to 'turn it off' .

I'm in a small office that has 7 Mac minis all connecting to sets of files shared by a mac miniserver on osx lion server.Â
On one of the mac minis, when you access the shared files by clicking on the server, it automatically connects with an administrator password that should not be used on this computer. And I can find no way to remove this authorization. In Keychain I removed all the miniserver references but to no avail, the macmini keeps connecting to the shared files with the admin name and password. I memorized another user that's also authorized to the same files and it connect correctly, but when i diosconnect again and reconnect to the server, it does so with the admin name/password, not the new one I just memorized.Â
I could of course change the administrator password but that would mean to change all the passwords which would be very complicated.Â

I am trying to switch from MS to apple so I decided to buy a used MacBook online as a test. I got the MacBook only to discover that the buyer didnt give me the admin password, I thought "ok I got disks I can just redownload Mavericks and install" ... well I ended getting a 10.6 install dvd but was unable to boot from it because of another password.
I asked the girl I got it off about this and she claimed they didnt know and bought it like that aswell(still useable but cant install anything). Is there anyway I can get it to reinstall or atleast create another user acc. or did I get ripped... it is a MacBook 2009 5,2Â

I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem but I am currently running Lion and I can't seem to get past the step that asks for your password whenever you install a program. It asks for my password, I type it in but it does not proceed to the next step. It would be great if anyone can assist me with this issue.
