Jun 4, 2012I recently purchased a projector and I want to use my Macbook Air to display presentations via my projector. With PC, I think I used "F8". How do I on Mac?

OS X :: HDMI Out Of Range With Projector
Nov 8, 2009I try to connect my projector Benq mp625p and MacBookPro(late 2008) via HDMI(adapter + cable). And projector tells me(on the screen): HDMI Out of Range. And, of course, MacOs doesn't see any external monitor. I think it is because, by default, MacOs wants to make mirror on the second screen, but max. projector resolution is XGA(1024x768). How can I turn off mirroring before the second monitor will be connected? But maybe problem isn't in just mirror display.
Additional Info VGA, S-video, Composite connection works great. And HDMI cable with adapter are 100% good(I have tryed them before on two plasma panels). Additional Info I've tried to connect this projector in BootCamp WinXP (on the same MacBook), and first time it didn't work, but when I set: Expand Desktop on the second screen everything began work properly!

MacBook Air :: Display Noise After Using VGA Projector
Jun 26, 2014I taught two terms at the university using my MB Air 2012 with a VGA projector. Each time I connected the Mac to the projector and took it off, there was random noise on the display. I considered it as normal. Now the lessons are over and I don't use the projector any more. However, every time I turn on the Mac and when I shut it down, I see the same noise on the display.

Jul 12, 2009I bought Monoprice's Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter with a plan to connect my Rev C 1.83 MBA to my 1080p Sanyo PLZ-2000 projector with a DVI to HDMI cable from the MDP adapter. However, while the MBA sees the projector in the Displays pane, nothing appears on the projector. If I connect with my Apple VGA adapter to the VGA input of the projector it works just fine.

Apr 22, 2009I bought the MDP to HDMI connector about a week ago, and yesterday I received my Asus VH242H LCD. Everything is just perfect. The monitor snapped to 1920x1080 on hook up, I moved the menu bar and dock to the 24" display and it's just beautiful. The Asus has some built in speakers, nothing special, but perfectly fine for Youtube and iMovie creations... I'm using a standard audio cable, since HDMI won't send the audio yet, hopefully it will later. Just thought I'd let everyone know that is considering a Asus LCD, I was very impressed. No dead pixels, very little backlight bleed that I can see, and the colors are perfect, then again, I'm not a photographer/photoshop guy.

However, when I try to connect to a Sony VPL ES1 data projector, the screen resizes (normal and OK) but the data projector shows a completely different desktop image and I can't see a cursor.
Presume this is a bug, but is there a work-around I'm missing?

Sep 3, 2014I'm having difficulties connecting my late-2013 retina display Macbook Pro to my Viewsonic PJD5223 projector. I have a (working) HDMI to VGA adaptor as well as an HDMI to mini-displayport/thunderbolt adaptor, and I have tried using two methods to connect:
1. Using he HDMI port directly
2. Using the thunderbolt port through the HDMI/thunderbolt adaptor on the Macbook Pro
Neither method appear to working. My Macbook Pro screen begins to blink/flicker, as if connecting then disconnecting rapidly. During the quick flashes, sometimes I can catch a glimpse of successful connection to the projector because the display settings panel for multiple screens appears.
I know that my adaptors are working because I can connect my Macbook Pro to my HP monitor with either of the two methods. I can also connect my PC to the projector using the HDMI/VGA adaptor. The problem appears to be specific to the retina display Macbook Pro or a more recent software update because I can connect to the projector using an older 2008 non-retina Macbook Pro.

Jan 31, 2012Have new MacMini... need to connect both a display VGA and a separate digital projector but there is only the HDMI to VGA port. Could I use the Thunderbolt port for that purpose, and if I can, do I need a special cable and connector to VGA?

Sep 2, 2010I just purchased a 13" MacBook Pro. When I attempt to use a TV as an external display, I get a flickering blue screen on my MacBook, and absolutely NOTHING on the television. I am using a Moshi adapter that I purchased from the Apple Store. Despite HOURS on the phone with tech support, I can't get this to work. I know neither the adapter nor the cable are defective. Does anyone have a solution?

Dec 28, 2010I've connected my Macbook to my Samsung TV via HDMI and it works great!
I've been using the TV for it's speakers and screensaver so I'd like to be able to put on iTunes and have my slideshow play on the TV while I have guests over.
It works great, but if I don't touch the macbook for 20 minutes, the signal to the TV cuts out. The Macbook isn't going to sleep, because I've adjusted those settings accordingly. I feel like the TV is stopping the connection for some reason. As soon as I touch my macbook, it resumes playing and everything.

Apr 1, 2009I just got in the mail the new MDP to HDMI and i plug it in to my macbook then to my 32" Samsung 720p TV and In mirrored mode it doesnt display the full Screen thats on my macbook it cuts off an edge all around so i cant see the menu bar up top barely see the dock i tried different resolutions and still doesnt help... Anyone have any Idea why this happens? And also whats a good audio Cable so i can output the audio from my macbook to my TV?

Mar 22, 2012I have a new MacBook Pro 17" computer. I want to play a DVD through the computer to a Toshiba 26" flat screen TV, using a mini port to HDMI.
At first nothing happened, then after much fiddling I got the Apple Spiral Galaxy image on the TV and my usual desktop on the computer. I then discovered that I can move the cursor from my desktop across to the right, where it disappears from my computer screen and appears on the left side of the spiral galaxy on the TV. So it's like I have two side-by-side screens, the Apple galaxy on the left, my computer on the right. In addition, I keep my dock on the right side and it's barely visible on the right side of the galaxy screen.
Incidentally if I play the DVD I can drag and drop it to the right so it slides off of my computer and onto the galaxy. But I know that's not the real solution.
