MacBook Air :: Can Send SMS From It
Mar 22, 2012
I have an iphone 4S and have discovered that it does not support SMS (it always sends a URL to a website instead of a text message).All the gimmicks are turned off (iMessage, MMS messaging, siri, etc.) to try and get it to behave like a phone. Is it possible to use my macbook air to send text messages instead ?
Info:
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1, Gimmicks disabled

Bit of a strange one to describe this, but I tried to send a message to a lot of recipients and it wouldn't send (I used the wrong server). Now I have an error message that falls off the bottom of the screen and I can't clear it.

If anyone on here uses aim, have you had issues since using Leopard sending files on AIM(AOL instant messenger)? I am unable to send anyone any type of file on there. I can receive, but I am unable to send anyone anything....any suggestions? I can send files through yahoo...so I'm not too sure why AIM hates me so much.

I have sbcglobal and for some reason when I set up my email I can not get the email to send, but it comes in just fine. Here are the settings that I have set up.
POP = pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
SMTP = smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
I keep getting a error message that pops up saying that it could not find the server for the smtp. Does anyone know what I should do or if there is something I need to change?

I've been having an issue with my AIM that I use through iChat. It will give me a dialog box stating that I am unable to send a message. Then when I quit iChat and restart it... my AIM buddy list fails to appear.

I bought the MDP to HDMI connector about a week ago, and yesterday I received my Asus VH242H LCD. Everything is just perfect. The monitor snapped to 1920x1080 on hook up, I moved the menu bar and dock to the 24" display and it's just beautiful. The Asus has some built in speakers, nothing special, but perfectly fine for Youtube and iMovie creations... I'm using a standard audio cable, since HDMI won't send the audio yet, hopefully it will later. Just thought I'd let everyone know that is considering a Asus LCD, I was very impressed. No dead pixels, very little backlight bleed that I can see, and the colors are perfect, then again, I'm not a photographer/photoshop guy.

I'm working with Apple Mac Book Pro, with 10.5.8 system and WiFi connection (via Airport)
E-mail software: Microsoft Entourage. Now, after two years without trouble, I unable to send e-mail with attachment up to 190 kb. All that over 190 kb and text message I able to send. And receive all (with or without attachment).
I have tried with many mail software, like Thunderbird (and others by third parts). I have tried with different SMTP. I have tried to reinstall the connection with Network Control. The connection with my Internet Provider is ok. The email (with or without attachment up to 190 kb) from my PC with Outlook, can run (same connection of Mac). Web mail is ok. Internet connection is ok. I tried a lot ways to resolve, but I failed.

I'm trying to send photos through iPhoto, on my mac. I wrote the wrong password when I choose to use iCloud. It accepted it, but when I try to send a e-mail with the photos it denies it. I can't seem to figure out how to change account.

In my Mail app on my MacBook Pro, I have an iCloud and a google account, but for some reason, the app won't let me send any emails out. I can receive and view all my emails, but if I try sending an email, it just throws the message to the outbox, but it never actually sends. If I log onto my gmail account through google on the internet, my emails will send just fine. But through the Mail app, absolutely no emails will send. I leave for college tomorrow..

I can receive emails fine when home but as soon as I leave the house and (like right now) try and use friends wifi, I can't send anything. I get emails fine but sending just throws up an error message. The weirdest thing is, my wife also has a MacBook Pro, is also using the same version of Mozilla Thunderbird, and her settings are the same - and hers sends emails fine!Â
This is making me think it's not a Mozilla problem, or an ISP problem but some other setting that is particular to my MacBook but might be different in hers..
The error message I get is "An error occurred sending mail: SMTP server error. The server responded: EHLO requires valid address Contact your mail administrator for assistance."Â
And I've checked all the server settings, changed the ports, etc etc. And like I said, my wife's are the same and it works fine so...

Mail is acting really stupid. It won't send messages, and is overall just acting weird.When I close mail, it gives me an error that says,"Some actions taken while the account Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online.Additional information: Operation could not be completed. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028.)

I can receive email, but when I try to send one I get an error. When I run the connection doctor, the CONNECTION STATUS is "mail was able to connect to the Internet". In the lower box, it says Cablevision "connection and login to server succeeded".
Underneath the Cablevision message, it says mail.optonline.net. It then shows that it's continuously trying to connect to the server.
