I recently purchased a new app (BoobookSNMP) on the Mac App Store and it downloaded fine. However, each time I start the Mac App Store and go to purchases, it is marked as requiring an update. But it's not listed among the Updates on the specific tab for Updates.
How can this be cleared up so that it appears as all the other apps do (installed)?

I have two hard drives that are both 2 Terrabytes. One is the main and the other is the Time Machine backup.
I just accidentally overwrote a Flash FLA file, so I selected it and ran Time Machine. There is no backup of this file even though it's on the main hard drive and Time Machine has been backing up every hour for months.
In fact, if I select the folder and check out Time Machine, it doesn't have a backup of the entire folder all the way back to the first week of April. Yes, Time Machine is backing up, I didn't turn it off.
why Time Machine would arbitrarily decide to not back up this folder? What happens if it runs out of space on the backup hard drive?
My MBP needed a new HDD, so I did a TM back-up, took it to Apple and they did the business so I reinstalled the OS and restored from TM.
Six weeks on I've opened iWeb and my website isn't there. How can I restore it (and why didn't TM do it?)?
When I update my software (using system update), the computer updates perfectly. However, when the update is completed, the computer turns itself off, instead of restarting like it used to.
After this, when I hit the power button to turn it back on, the power light comes on, but then it turns itself back off again. I usually have to hold the power button in for about 5-10 seconds, and repeat this a couple of times to actually get it to turn on.
I have also noticed that a file in the recycle bin called "recovered files" is being created after the process.
A while back, I made the huge mistake of hitting the power button in the middle of an update (eeeek!) and I think this may have caused the issue.

I just updated to 10.6.5 before the holidays and did not get a chance to use my MP much until now. I'm noticing that my mouse gets stuck and slows down a few times every hour. I've reset my machine, reset the PRAM and SMC. I've also tried my mighty mouse and it does the same thing as my Magic Mouse. I'm certain its the new OS, its minor but really annoying when your'e trying to get work done. Can I revert back to 10.6.4? I did back my system up to my external drive before I upgraded but I've done another backup since then so 10.6.4 backup is gone. Can I download the old 10.6.4 update files and revert back? Or am I stuck like my mouse?

View 3 Replies View Relatedi am having some issues with my macbook these past 3days, and its just not the way i want it to be.. alright, let me describe what happened:
few days ago I was using my macbook as usual, then suddenly comes a terrible lag with my macbook(there's a delay for everything at about 30-45secs). it's impossible for me to restart it, so i did a "force restart(holding onto the power button".
After that, i couldn't turn on my macbook anymore, i kept getting stuck at the first screen(where the apple logo and a spinning wheel under it).. that was my first encounter with such a problem on my macbook. what i found out is that i got an error message saying "open error 5 input/output acard......", but couldn't repair it under disk utility. then went to search the internet and decided to restore from time machine backup. I didn't get any sleep for one whole night because of that!!
After the restoration, now my macbook is acting very very strangely.. like if i left my macbook restarting itself, and come back later it would hang at the login page, but the mouse pointer would still be working though(just can't key in my password or click on anything).. feels like the start up time is much slower, i get slow response at times and other minor minor stuff..
Using a Feb 2011 Macbook Pro with OSX Lion 10.7.4 It seems that every time i use my built-in iSight camera, then the next time i go to use it, it can not be found. This requires that I reset the PMU, which is kind of annoying. Then it works for a few weeks and the cycle of iSight begins again. Why does this happen? It seems pretty trivial to consistently recognize a camera which is wired into my computer. Is there something I could do to prevent this from happening again? I have tried turning it on and off again. And currently, this article is linking to the reset instructions for Intel iMac instead of the Macbook Pro page...

When accessing the website; 'WhatUsersDo', which is used for testing websites, you are required to provide an audio recording of your thoughts about the website which you are testing, However, I am unable to submit an application to become one of the testers, as it is saying that I need to enable a microphone before I can continue with my application (as you are required to take a practice test during the application).
I have looked through other forums, and my microphone is working fine.
I tried to install some apps requiring Apple's X11 like wireshark and the gimp compiling them with macports. The problem is that they're not starting. They simply don't start. I tried running them from the terminal but I get no error. I just formatted my partition so this is a fresh system, but before these same apps used to work correctly. The first time I try to run gimp I get a message saying I don't have Apple's X11, then I run it and the next time I start gimp it simply doesn't start.

My Macbook Pro was working fine when suddenly Safari froze, so I forced quit. After opening Safari again, the page just stayed white and wouldn't load. None of my other programs requiring internet are working either (ie. AIM, Skype), even though my internet connection is listed as connected and other devices using Wifi are working perfectly. Could this be some sort of virus?

I have a mid 2007 iMac that seems to, for no apparent reason at all, just randomly go to a blank screen, locking up my Mac requiring a hard shutdown. This happens sometimes right after I start it up or after I'm on for hours at a time. Or not at all, I simply don't get it. I reinstalled Lion (after I redownloaded it to be safe) and it didn't seem to work.

My iMac is currently using 192GB of the 1TB drive. I currently have a 250GB drive I'm using as a backup. My Time machine backups are starting to fail as it's telling me I only have about 60GB free, but it needs 85GB to do the backup. Any idea why it needs all the extra space?
Also, I know TM keeps several copies of the files based on the date - is there a way to purge older files (e.g. delete anything > 1 month old)?
I'm going to eventually get a larger drive for backups, but thought I had plenty of time since I'm only at 75% capacity on the backup drive
there a way i can have automator back up my 1password data without me having to do anything?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a w7 dual-booted early 2010 macbook pro, and it has been exhibiting some really strange behavior for a while now. Basically, it crashes randomly. It doesn't give me the bluescreen in either mac or windows when this happens, it simply turns black, locks up, and often makes unpleasant sounds (anything from a clicking like a harddrive to bizzare sounding sound loops if I have been playing music). The weird thing is is that it doesn't seem to have a trigger. It can happen when I'm playing games, when I'm listening to music, or even when I have absolutely nothing running but Microsoft Word. It doesn't seem to have any dependancy on how long I have been using the computer, or even what time of day it is. It started out relatively infrequent--maybe once a month? But now it happens once a day, if not more.
I have still under my applecare agreement, and so I went ahead and sent it in to apple. They only had it for 24 hours before the sent it back with brand new memory... but this (maybe obviously?) didn't the problem at all--it crashed withen an hour of using it. I called apple back, and they said because sometimes it won't crash for many hours, they recommended I send it to an authorized repaire shop. I took it to the shop, and they wouldn't even look at it after I described my problem because, they said, "for problems like these, we never find solutions."
So now I'm stuck with a great laptop that runs BEAUTIFULLY.... except when it crashes. It's even still under applecare, but no one seems willing or capable of fixing it.
Does anyone have an advice? If apple can't find the problem, do I have grounds to ask for them to replace the whole MOBO, or even the whole computer? It's kind of a frustrating situation, because I bought applecare for this exact reason, but it doesn't seem to be doing me any good!
