I bought a dvi > hdmi cable to connect my air to the hdmi port of a samsung 46inch tv. The picture is perfect at 1600x1200, but when i select 1920x1080 it looks really bad, sorta like 16bit colors. When I use a vga cable it looks fine at 1920x1080. So what am i doing wrong? or has it something to do with the dvi > hdmi cable i bought?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install windows 7 using bootcamp. I have a windows 7 premium 64 bit iOS, an intel MacBook air 128 ssd drive, and a 16gb Kingston108. I used bootcamp put windows on the flashdrive with the updates and drivers. Partitioned the hard drive (20 gb for windows). Then it restarted the Mac, it kind of sat on the grey startup for a minute then went to a black screen that said non-system disk press any key to reboot. I pressed any key, it didn't reboot, I pushed every key, it didn't reboot. I then held the power button down to force the shutdown. I restarted and same issue. I then option held and booted into Mac os and re did the whole process and same issue.

I often add very large files to my system before compressing them, sending them to clients, and then deleting them. This process leaves me constantly thinking about how much disk space I have free. Disk Utility, and an Apple approved app called DaisyDisk (space visualization) typically help me accompish this. Sadly, as of this week I seem to have a problem. When I went and looked the other day Disk U was telling me that 250gb of my 320gb drive is in use. This seemed high to me, but to be safe I thought I'd delete some files I didn't need. After deleting a bunch of videos, and a backup of my Main Identity (19gb) from my system, I'd assumed I had freed up about 24gb, but when I went back into Disk U it was still showing the same 250gb in use. Yes I rebooted my system, and made sure the trash was empty.
As I investigated further I did a get info on all 6 folders on the MacHD and they added up to about 170gb. That seemed more realistic, so I did a get info on my MacHD and again it showed the same thing 170 in use and 148.something available. Note: I have no partitions on this drive. But yet, still when I go to Disk U it seemed to be stuck at only 64gb free. Today when I went and looked again I am still seeing the same amount in use and free on the MacHD get info, but on Disk U now I am seeing 108 free and 211 in use. Why the difference? I would think Get Info was pulling from the same place as the mac disk utility.

I purchased iStat menus for my MBP (no r) mid 2012 and it does not seem to work right. It seems to install ok without any messages popping up but once installed where I get the chosen options onto the menu bar I have a problem. When I click on say CPU or any of the others, a window shows the details but when I then click in that window, at the bottom on EDIT I get a message saying: Tried uninstalling iSta menus and reinstalling but no go.

My sister just bought a refurbished 13" MacBook Pro?The built-in camera is "flickering," but it appears to only be happening in applications made by Apple, or at least ones preinstalled on the computer. The applications affected that I have tested are: iMovie, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and iChat. It's not really a "flicker," per se, but large horizontal chunks of the video will displace and often show up as green -- it all moves very rapidly -- very hard to explain, but it is definitely not normal behavior.
iChat takes the issue a step further: the camera preview in iChat Preferences shows nothing but a blank screen. The camera works flawlessly in Skype, and also in web browers thorugh Adobe Flash. So, I am very certain this is not a hardware issue. It also worked perfectly during the setup walkthrough when the computer was first turned on and it had her take a photo for her user account. I've tried resetting application preferences by deleting the preference files, resetting PRAM and SMC, shutting down/restarting the computer, and I've applied all possible Software Updates. System Information (formerly System Profiler) shows the camera under USB, so the computer is recognizing it. Finally, we called Apple and they said to reinstall OS X, which my sister just did. The problem's still there. It wasn't a "clean" install though, because all of her files and preferences were kept in-tact, so maybe that is why.

I am using Mac Pro Mac OS X 10.5.6
2 x3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
12 GB 667 MH DDR2 FB-DIMM
ATI Radeon X1900 XT
Dual displays
20 " display

I must say there are no specs on Autodesk website for mudbox for mac and video card.I would have thought my video card would have been sufficient, but it is apparently not. So I am asking what others have. Have you upgraded? anyone trying the nvidia Quadro FX4800? It is a shame that I would have to step away from the Radeon graphics card.I thought it might need an update in its driver but there is no update on the site. So what are the options?I have a call into the media at AMD to see if there is something that can be done with the card that I have.I sure hate to have to review it and say.Take out the Radeon card.I am open for suggestions and comments on this subject.
Recently, whenever I open a PDF file with Preview, the file opens fine, but the app itself is unresponsive. I can use shortcuts (to close the program or window, or to open other files), but when I use a mouse or trackpad I am unable to click anything in the app, even the menu bar. I can scroll through the PDF documents, but I am unable to highlight text. I have all updates, and Preview is working fine if I switch to another user. I have tried to Repair Permissions, to add my user account to the Sharing and Permissions category under the finder, and I have tried deleting the preferences file in Library to no avail.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi've been trying to get 64-bit Windows 7 on my iMac by adding drivers one by one. The only driver that's giving me trouble is the keyboard one. The F-Keys do not work like they are supposed to. They are just the Windows default meaning the brightness keys don't change brightness and the sound keys don't change the sound. I have tried both the Leopard BootCamp drivers as well as the Snow Leopard BootCamp drivers and neither have changed how the F-Keys behave. Is there another driver i'm missing that I have to install?
Also i'm using the Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard for whatever that's worth.
I am having two problems with the Mail app that perhaps you all could help me with.
First, when I send out emails with links in them, 50% of the time the link is cut in half; the text is there, but the clickable part of the link is only for half of the test.
For example it would show up like this:
[URL]
I know the recipients can just copy and paste the whole email, but I send these emails to a lot of family friend members who aren't computer literate. Plus it's just a hassle for the reader.
My second question is that whenever I reply to an email, my emails don't display the image that was in the original email. It just says "attachmentXXXX" at the bottom. Is there anyway to fix this?
Since the installation of Lion the decimal point isn't working alright. Not in the calculator and not in Numbers.
1. For instance when I type 1500 in the Calculator the displays says 1,500. That's not correct, in Europe it should be 1.500
No preferences in the calculator to change it. It worked well with Snowleopard. In system preferences Decimals is changed to ",", thousands is "."
2. Numbers. When I type 123456789 in numeric field it's changed in 123.456.789
If I change the last four digits to 2233 and accidently forget to change the points the point stays on the same place. It will say 123.452233 The same if you add a digit 123.456.789 will be 123.456.7892233
This worked well in Snowleopard.
Many are having issues with font smoothing not working correctly on external displays with SL 10.6.
I researched this issue and found this blog posting:
URL
the blog itself discusses the issue, and the fix is found in the comments.
Basically, for now the fix is to open Terminal App and enter:
"defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2″
without the quotes, and hit return.
a log out or restart might be required.
this fix seems to stick even after re-boots and shut-downs.

I just bought a Macbook Pro 15" i7; the only problem I've had with it is this: every now and then my Expose/Space/Screen Corners stop working, and the only solution I can find is to just restart my computer (which thanks to the i7 is only about 20 seconds anyway ). Does anyone here have any advice on this?

I have the MacBook Pro 2010 13" and recently I've noticed my disc space is slowly decreasing with use.
Im not downloading files or anything, but today I lost around 600 MB of space, I just kept opening my Finder to discover less and less disc space each time.
Is this normal or do I have a problem, this is the first time I've noticed it in the month and a half I've owned the machine.
Just quite surprised and then not at the same time that my 11.6 has just 46gbs after a fresh install of leopard. Can't fit anything on there! Looking at my migration assistant, I won't be able to transfer a lot of my applications over. Anyone who wants to do some video work, bootcamping, or photoshopping/editing shouldn't even look at a 64gb. An ultimate 11" seems to be a must for the harddrive space and the 4gb of ram.
