MacBook :: After Crashing Lion Again Automatically Log In?
Jun 22, 2012
My late 2008 MacBook (aluminum) crashed last month. I have fixed many of the items that quit working except: I can no longer automatically log in. When I go to Preferences and then to Users & Groups (Login Options) the "Click the lock to make changes" always goes to page which says "System Preferences quit unexpectedly." On that page it says Exception Type: EXE_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) and Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000. Is there a solution that does not require me to wipe the computer and reinstall from scratch?

My mac book pro keeps crashing as soon as I update the OS from 10.7 to 10.7.3. It happened thrice and now I am not even able to reinstall the OS. It keeps downloading the additional components and keep increasing the time from 30 mins to 1hr 40mins.

I have a Macbook Pro (mid 2012) running OSX 10.8.5, Its not clogged with rubbish and all apps are up to date. Recently google chrome has been crashing constantly. upon opening it will work and i can browse half of 1 page, Then it crashes. Nothing loading and nothing clickable within chrome. I then have to force quit the programme and start all over again. I can use Facebook though?Â
I have done the typical re-install, I've even restarted my mac and still no joy.Â

Whenever I turn my MacBook pro on, all the other stuff is loaded (MS word/excel/powerpoint), Spotify, iCal, etc., are automatically loaded, so in order for me to go to my desired website, I have to close (x) out all applications loaded.

Over the past month Lion has been crashing, running slow and freezing constantly.\Â I am not used to having so many PC type issues on my Mac. I have done Disk repair in utilities and removed unecessary programs at start up.Â
Recently, in the middle of working with applications in iPhoto09 they simply crash. I get a message stating no harm was done but it's getting annoying as it's happening more often than not. I am new to mac, have had it now for maybe two weeks, but wouldnt expect apps to crash this often. Any thoughts?
The Time Machine application crashes on launch. Here is the crash report: Â
Process:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â backupd [3226] Path:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd Identifier:Â Â Â Â Â backupd Version:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â ??? (???) Code Type:Â Â Â Â Â Â X86-64 (Native)
I recently (2 months ago) purchased a new mac book pro and migrated everything from my older mac book pro running Snow Leopard to Lion.Since moving to Lion I have been experiencing frequent crashes of Mac Mail, I spend a large portion of my work day in mail and experience this as many as a dozen times a day. Mac Mail will crash while
1) composing an email, 2) when clicking a link in an email 3) clicking the attachment icon to add an attachment 4) clicking on an attachment that has been sent to me 5) somestimes just trying to exit/close Mac Mail and the it hangs and I have tp force quit. After Mac Mail crashes and is restarted, clicking on the same link or attachment will workI have removed my mail IMAP folder and settings and re-established the connection from scratch but the problem persists.I have ran the disk permissions repair utility and the problem persists. I have ran the verfiy disk utility and it reports no problems.I have ran the Apple hardware tests including the extended tests and no hardware issues are found. Has one experienced somewthing similiar?Does anyone have any suggestions where to start looking for the root cause? All crash reports seem to look [code]

For some reason, Finder has been crashing randomly for one week. Every five minutes or so, Finder closes for 10 seconds, and reopens again. Every time, I get a lot of error reports in Console:
I am getting the following message on my iMac, it happens when doing different things so can't pin-point when its happening.I get the following error report when I restart the matching

my mac pro early 2008 will crash a few times just after start up and then it will stabilise and work fine. i have done a repair disc on a few occassions still with same result.
I am really confused as to why about a week or so ago, my email on my MBP crashes several times a day. It appears that it happens when I am doing something within email. Maybe clicking on an email to read, add an attachment, etc. Its not so obvious that its the same thing. The wheel starts to spin and then I get the crash message.
Info: MBP 15 , Mac OS X (10.7.1), plus IOS on iPhone 4S
My 2008 iMac with OS X 10.7.3 crashes every time I play a Flash video, or access a website that uses Flash. The problem is persistent in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, with and without 64-bit mode enabled. I have updated to the latest version of Flash. I have also checked for a number of known trojans that might be messing up my system, but I am clean.
The problem started four days ago. Prior to this I have had no issues with the machine, now it crashes consistently on viewing Flash.
My iMAC running latest Lion OS is crashing or freezes permanently. Several reboots are necessary a day. I Never had problem with Snow Leopard. Checked hardware with diagnostic disc, all OK, so I wanted to re-install Lion from scratch while keeping my data. How shall I proceed? Back-up available via time machine.
Is there an option in Mac OS X Lion (10.7.3) where I can set my system to automatically login to my university's remote folders and drives on their network?
