I went to go install Google Chrome but then the site reads:
"Your operating system is not supported.
Google Chrome is available for Mac OS X 10.5 or later, Intel only".
I have 10.5 or later and my mac is intel based.
I just received my 1GB stick and put it in slot 4, however on restart the system only shows 2GB! (When it should show 4), saying slots 2 and 3 are empty. So I removed all the sticks and put this new one in slot 1... it doesn't boot up!
It's a kingston MP1066/1G, purchased from ebuyer but what I did noticed was that the seal had already been broken

I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro (the ones released just before the switch to unibody) with the model of graphics card (NVidia 8600) that was faulty. I've experienced graphic glitches and the machine freezing since I bought it.My timeline with this machine is:I brought the machine to the Apple store where I got a replacement logic board.I still had the same problems, so I had to bring the machine back to the store, where they said they would replace the logic board again.

I was browsing online when suddenly my screen was filled with this pixelated horizontal lines all across the screen.I restarted the computer... heard the start up chime then came a grey screen with the same lines, I can see the apple logo at the start up and the loading bar underneath it... then the screen turns blue, still with the lines and that is all I'm able to see
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy mac mini (2010) has started to not show up CDs lately. I insert an audio CD and it comes up with a message that I have inserted a blank CD. When I do the same in Boot Camp (windows 7) it works fine. I am running Lion. This didn't happen when I installed Lion, it happened only in the last couple of weeks. I tried the method in one post about creating a new user account and trying from there, but to no avail.

I'm trying to network a XP Pc to my iMac running Tiger. When I try to open network in system preference, it just opens an empty window. It's like I'm missing an app. I have tried to install it using my OSX install disk several times. This is what I get. my Apple Care expired 6 months ago. My OD plays CDs and DVDs.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith my 'old' Intel iMac using a Display Port adapter, my 24" LG Monitor would be detected correctly and worked first time. With my new 2011 iMac 27 using a genuine Apple mini DisplayPort adapter plugged into the Thunderbolt port, this same monitor now shows up as a generic VGA monitor and the range of resolutions is severely reduced - basically it looks terrible. I've tried disconnecting the cable, reconnecting, using the second Thunderbolt, changing resolutions, detecting displays, showing displays in the menu bar. All with no success.

Someone switched off the power to my iMac the other day. Since I've rebooted:a] System Profiler shows no awareness of FireWire ("Unable to list FireWire devices" in red) b] Every boot takes about five minutes, 3+ of which seems to be spent waiting for a response from the FireWire socket (the logs show a 3-minute gap followed by a line that goes something like this:"/usr/lib/exec/hidd: Timeout waiting for IOKit to be quiet")
c] if it's idle long enough to go to sleep, it goes into a kernel panic (the last line in the log before the panic says"kernel[0]: IOPMSlotsMacRISC4::determineSleepSupport has canSleep true")b] looks connected to a], but I can't see any connection with c] (apart from the reference to IO).

With Mac OS X Mavericks, System Information shows:Â
Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Dynamic, Max): 1024 MB

Why is it different? How much VRAM do I have?

So I purchased a stereo output to composite red/white cables. I then plugged the HDMI and composites cables into the receiver, but the it reads only the HDMI (which should include audio and video), or composite (yellow, red, white). If you have HDMI plugged it, it doesn't read from the composite, and vise-versa. So how exactly can I fix this? Why doesn't Apple have the HDMI contain audio and video (like most things, PS3, 360, consoles)? This is really odd and I cannot really use it as a home theatre system at the moment. I was hoping that it wasn't my receivers fault (2008 fancy Denon receiver, cost a few grand), but if it was to find some kind of converter that takes HDMI and stereo out, and outputs it as HDMI with audio/video.

1. in the Apple mail app, now my inbox shows the Notes (you know the yellow notes that appear on iphone also) also, how do i stop notes from showing ?
2. every-time a launch Zinio reader its gives a message that system wants to download rosetta... I keep on saying no. I though Rosetta was the compatibility between intel and PPC and getting rosetta on SL defeats the purpose of the smaller footprint of the operating system !
I have a 2009 Mac Mini Server with iStat Server installed. When I connect to iStat server with the iPhone app, I see no network usage (even though it is being used). iStat Pro widget will show the usage just fine. Any ideas on why its not showing up with iStat Server?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro 13", running on latest update, is showing a completely blue, plain blue, desktop background. It changed all by itself. When I tried to reset it by right clicking on the image I want on my desktop and selecting "Set Desktop Picture" nothing changes. When I go into my settings and try to change it that way, the image I want as my background shows as already being my background, yet my desktop is still blue. Tried rebooting already.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm in the market for a second hand G5 with Applecare. I will be using it for my recording studio as I'm sick of PCs. There are some great deals on eBay and my limit is looking around 1000.I don't understand the different specs, some can take 4 gig ram, some 8 some 16. Some are Dual Core, Dual, Quad. Which is the most powerful? What's better Dual Core or Dual CPU (I take it this is right?)
I have an Athlon 3200 XP 2.21ghz with a gig of ram right now. What Powermac G5 is similar to that speed? Also, anything else I should look out for when buying a Powermac G5?
I would like to find a place for specs on old Apple products. Mainly I would like to know the specs of the old 23" Polycarbonate ADC Apple Cinema Display (M8536).

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe're dropping our Dishnetwork subscription this month in hopes of getting our content from both our AppleTV and also a MacMini, which we hope to purchase soon. I've been looking at a number of MacMini's on EBay and via CraigsList, but I wanted to know what you guys suggest as far as processor and memory for a Mini just to serve video to the TV. My goal is to watch videos from iTunes and Boxee primarily, but also from the web as need be. I'm looking at a number of 1.2Ghz systems with 512 Megs/Ram, and given this computer will only be used for video would this be suffice? I dont' know if we need the 'latest and greatest' or even a dual core system, even though I do want something with OSX 10.5 for sure.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm considering getting the base Mini and using it as a media hub to replace my AppleTV. I've hacked my AppleTV to run Netflix, Boxee, etc., but playback in Firefox can be slow. The only issue is the lack of Blu-Ray in the mini which would mean getting a Blu-Ray drive and cracking the mini open. Seems like a lot of work but it could replace my Sony Blu-Ray DVD player leaving only my Denon receiver, Cable box and Mac Mini.
