Mac Pro :: Updated The System Now Unable To Find Library?
Mar 26, 2012
I updated my system and am now having print problems. Where did the Library go? Did they do away with it? I found printer drivers in Applications. Do I have a corrupted system?
This has stuggled me for around a year, ever since i upgrade to lion when it is available, i found its hard for me to change my wallpaper to the images located in my aperture library. It's simplely not showing up as a available option in the preference panel desktop image section.
No offense, but dont tell me to do the repair disk, repair permission thing, or change the preview as "always" in the sharing section.
This is what i've done:
1>I've done format the entier hard drive "7 pass erase" around 3 times
2>Fixed the permission, repaired disk, runned daily weekly monthly script for thousands of times.
3>Reinstalled the OS thousands of times.
4>Repair Permission, Repair Database, Rebuid Database for Aperture 3 thousands of time.
5>Runned ACL repair under recovery mode 3 times in Apple Terminal.
6>Called Apple Support, reached to 3 different senior technicients
7>Done the research online
8>Tried everything i can.
I like photography, and i have a 70G aperture library. now i can only export the image into a folder and choose the image from the folder to do it. I know I know, It's not a big deal, just wallpaper. I'd done some programing for 2 3 years. It's kind of a habbit for me to debug the thing, i feel like this is issue for me, which makes me uncomfortable.
I want to copy my iPhoto library to an external drive but I cannot find the folder on my Mac Air. When I open Finder there is no Picture folder showing so I cannot find the iPhoto library.
Info: MacBook Air (11-inch Mid 2013), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I bought an eMac from a friend of my husband's, and there wasn't the Safari icon to connect to the internet. So, I clicked on the apple icon at the top left of the screen, then clicked on Mac OS X, and it would usually open up the internet browser and I could surf the web from there. Well, my husband was messing around with the computer to try and figure things out, and now when I click on that same thing a gray box pops up in the middle of the screen and says that my system settings are being updated and it's unable to open my preferred web browser and I need to try again in a few minutes. This started last night, so it's been well over 24 hours, as we let it set there thinking it just wasn't finished updating. How do I get rid of that?
I've been experience intermediate issues ranging from not showing icons standard in OSX (such as in my shared devices, HardDrive icons tha tmount on the desktop, etc) this is a unibody 2.4ghz i got in February that came with 10.5.5 and used combo updates on each update...ive done a blank install from scratch with nothing on it and i still experience the missing icon issues that dont happen on other unibody mbps i use ??
((the other macbook pro im connecting to is an identical model 2.4 and the other one is a unibody 17, they display the proper icons under 10.5.7, unlike shown below))
My system gets random freezes even when nothing but the browser, word or small applications, it will beachball for aboud 30seconds to 2minutes even after a clean install and a combo straight to 10.5.7 any ideas on these issues? Am I the only one who is having these missing icon issues...even after a clean isntall with the original OSX Install Discs?
I can't print to my network computer after 10.6.3. I can however print using Parallels, but I can't print from say preview or any other OSX based software.
The printer is an HP 4200 Laser jet that I access through an ethernet on my work network. I'm the only Mac in the office and am getting ridiculed for not being able to print from OSX.I tried downloading the HP drivers and re installing them but no luck...
I have a 2.8ghz macbook pro running leopard and after finally downloading the latest software update bringing me to 10.5.8 I feel it's running hotter nearly all the time.when simply using garageband, my MBP never usually ran hotter than 125 F, but after the update it runs at 180 constantly in garageband. could the update have done anything to make this happen, it's the only change I can think of
I work everyday with my 21.5' iMac and it had OS Lion before I updated to Mavericks last month. As I work with lots of files, I have also a 1TB Lacie external drive pluged into it via firewire and I constantly access these files. After I updated though, I'm experiencing a strange problem. Everytime I search for a file on Finder, all the results that come up can't be edited or even selected. This is driving me crazy because I must open another tab and go all the way through the file I want as I can't select any file from the searches. All the search results come up written in gray color and with a empty circle on its left side. I can't even click on them! For better explanation, here is a picture of what happens:
Before the update, I used to normally access every result the search came up to.
I have another iMac here in the network with Mavericks too and all the searches returns with selectable and editable results.
I'm running 10.6.3 and I've been using connect360 to get media to my box for some time. Since the latest software update, I am now getting the (seemingly not uncommon) 'ports 1900 and/or 9335 in use' error.Scouring the internet, the more common fixes don't seem to help... I don't have any TwonkyMedia process, and turning off the OS X firewall doesn't help.

Can I use Mac OS 10.5.x successfully? Does this computer have what is needed? Out of ignorance and bravery, I have already loaded 10.5.x on my hard drive, and am having problems. So, I'm considering reinstalling my back up. Should I?
A couple of the problems I am having are: 1) logging in to the iTunes store (crashes), and 2) my scanner software also crashes.
I updated Efi firmware, but force quit twitter to install. Now system won't come on, it just shows grey screen with the spinning wheel loading. I am running lion 10.7.3.
Using imac OSX. Had handbrake installed worked o.k till I downloaded latest version. Now it wont open. deleted from applications and secured empty trash. Downloaded it again still wont open. Icon appears in applications and nothing happens when you click on it.
I am unable to sync my iPhone to my iMac The contacts, calendars etc are not syncing . Not sure what i have done that is incorrect .This will be the first time this phone is synced to this computer...
I have a brand new MBP. I have a 1tb external drive with 250gb's of music. I have it attached to my mac via USB. I CANNOT GET ITUNES TO CREATE A NEW LIBRARY ON THE EXTERNAL DRIVE. I CANNOT DRAG AND DROP OR ADD FILE/FOLDER.
But get this, I hook it up to my old Dell and I can do whatever I want. I am friggin pissed that I spent all this money on Mac equip and can't get it going. You may have seen my other post where I posed my issue of: 1tb ethernet drive hooked to airport extreme. Above mentioned 1tb hooked up to back of it via usb. I am completely unable to copy, move, or add files using my mac. But guess what. my pc handles it easily and quickly.
I have experienced a problem after I updated to SL last night.I made a fresh install of both SL and iLife 09 on my mbp unibody late 2008.
Afterwards, I replaced the my fresh iphoto library simply with my old iphoto 09library from time machine (no migration tool, only copy pasts).
But now I recognized a problem that I see no iphoto library in my Desktop and Screensaver Menu in control panel. I cant set iphoto library photos as screensaver cause I cant see them
Does anyone have a solution for it? or does anybody face the same issue?
I have been using a 2007 MacPro laptop, using OSX 10.6.4 for several years. I have my Itunes library on an external hard drive. I purchased a new MacPro laptop recently with 10.7.3. Both seem to be using Itunes 10.6. When I plug in the external hard drive Itunes doesn't see a library file, and no tunes are shown. I see the lists of files, but can't sync to a library file. I pluged in my Ipod Classic and about 1800 songs are in the new laptop Tunes media folder. But I cant get to the library where some 8000+ tunes, books, podcast's live. When I shift back to the old library no problems are noted. When I shift to the new laptop only the 1800 files it copied from from the Ipod are displayed. I seem to be able to tell it the library is external in advanced preferences, but no library can be found.
My uni-body MacBook (aluminum) is running out of storage space. I'm trying to figure out how much space my iTunes library is using (besides using the system preferences option).
I have a problem in that the Safari folder is not found in the Library folder. I use OS X Lion and the Library folder is permanently displayed (by using Terminal) under Computer, but the Safari folder is strangely enough not there. I have tried to find it while showing hidden files (also by using Terminal commands) but to no avail. Both Lion and Safari are updated to their latest versions.I need to find and use the bookmarks.plist file, which cannot be found since its parent Safari folder is not displayed. (I need it to alter it in order to remove the bookmarks and bookmark bar folders on the iPhone, by iTunes sync.)
Can't find my Library folder in Lion. Would like to use it again. I went to terminal and put in chflags nohidden ~/Library as it was suggested to me but no luck.
I am a proud owner of a MAC powerbook G4 for just over 3 years now. It runs MAc OX 10.3. For the last two weeks i have been having issues. First it started to be very slow. Then it would not boot up and i got a blue screen. I ran the file system checks from the OS X and it complained about the volume being bad and said it could not be repaired. i decided to reinstall the whole thing and did a complete erase and install. IT booted up fine. The software updater asked permission to update which i agreed.
After the update was over, the software updater had more updates. I guessed that it was probably giving me updates in the chronological order. During a particular update, it gave the blue screen and "please restart" ... and when i rebooted it did not come up... just a blue screen... i verified the filesystem using the diagnostic tool and it again said it was corrupt .... I have done this twice now and i have a feeling it happened when i was updating the same batch of software updates.... sometimes my software updater would crash everytime i launch it.....
Can you point me to where the solutions are?, which are:
1. Whenever I try to play music and videos through Front Row, it says, direct quote: "there are no items in your iTunes library", when in fact I have 5000+ songs, dozens of TV shows and movies, all of which work fine in iTunes. I made sure a) all media files are CHECKED (Selected) in my library, b) the Consolidate Library function has always been ON, c) iTunes is open and d) my iTunes library is in the default location, i.e. user/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music. 2. Photos appear correctly in Front Row and DVDs play, I just can't see my videos and music. 3. One interesting thing: the Album Art screen saver also says that "Your iTunes library does not contain any songs with artwork", while most of my iTunes music have album art embedded and they display correctly in iTunes.
I even tried re-installing OS X, but it still does not work! Here is the computer I am using: 17-inch 2.0 gHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.4.10) iMac from October, 2006 with iTunes 7.3.1 installed and working. I have had this problem since (I think) iTunes 6.
I have itunes on the MBP. I have the library and music on my NAS. If I run itunes, it says it cannot find the library unless I browse to my HD, then the NAS, then the folder share first (obviously when I do this. the MBP authenticates to the NAS). Is there a way to avoid having to open the NAS through the finder first?
Got my iTunes Library reading from an external USB drive. Nothing has changed in months. Though just recently, for 90% of my songs - iTunes can't locate them. I checked the directory where they've always been and they're still there. External drive is alive and kicking, connected to my Macbook. This sucks because I've got a gajillion playlists. And my iPhone and iPad will no longer sync these playlists. I'd really hate to manually have to re-do all of my playlists again.
I just got the new MBP recently. Everything works fine. Just a bit curious. When I try to find some file in finder, the files in ~/library/preferences don't come up.
