Mac Pro :: How To Know About Memorex LightScribe DVD Burner
May 2, 2008
I have this memorex lightscribe external burner. before I open it i want to make sure it is MAC compatible. I want to burn CD and eventually dvdsDoes not mention Mac anywhere on the box. I have a 24" mac desktop
I have an iso i downloaded from my Univ, of Windows Xp and when i try to burn the iso with burn i keep getting a "medium write error". Is there something wrong with my cd? i used a memorex cd. Should i try using a DVD-r? Or could there be something wrong with my super drive, I purchased my mac 10 months ago.
I have a Mac Powerbook 1.67GHz laptop (Pre-intel chip) and am having trouble reading a disk which contains files I burned from a PC...if I put the disk in the PC the information is there so I know the burn happened correctly; I just can't read/retrieve the info when I put the disk into my mac laptop; is it possible that my drive is incompatible with this format?
I have a PowerBook G4 with a Matshita DVD-R UJ-825 drive. When I insert a Memorex ultraspeed CD-RW (24x, 700 mb, 80 ming), the computer spits it out after a few seconds. Any way to resolve this? I haven't tried using other types of CD-RWs and have used Memorex CD-Rs in the past with no problems.
Our church is possibly going to get a mac pro to replace our current windoze projection system. This system will also be used to edit/record video and then burn it onto a DVD. My question is, what lightscribe drive will work well that will fit as seamlessly as possible in the Mac Pro's drive bay?
Hope I can ask this here. I installed Snow Leopard and now have copied a cd. I have a LaCie dvd copier with Light Scribe. I used the LS and it ran normal but when finished the disc had nothing on it. I went to the LaCie sight and nothing is mentioned about Snow Leopard.
I've got GSA-H20L LG lightscribe drive but the only problem is that the lightscribe drivers I got from versiontracker have to no avail helped me, I also tried disclabel.
Is there anyway via drivers/program to get lightscribe to work on this sawtooth?
My last Powermac G5 I put in the 20x dual layer Pioneer. 116d I think is the model number. Works perfect. Should I get that same drive or should I get the Pioneer one that has the 20x dual layer plus Lightscribe? I heard the Lightscribe one is basically an Asus drive and don't know if that is good or bad. Does anyone use Lightscribe?
So i didnt really know where else to ask but my lightscribe software is not buring discs correctly under snow leopard. Im currently using the lacie disc labeler. I wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing the same problem or knows of any other software to try other than disclabel which is working somewhat but only allows me to burn a label the size of half the cd.
I've got an iMac 17" Intel Core duo. I would like to know for those who got the same model, if the matshita internal optical drive ( MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J ) is compatible Lightscribe ?
When I Put A 20X Sony Lightscribe Drive In The Secondary Optical Bay I Attached The Power And The IDE, I Checked To See If The Drives Were Initialized They Were Not Even Recognized.....The New Sony As Well As The Apple Stock Drive In The First Bay It Was Like I had Removed Both Of Them! I Then Took Out The Apple Stock Optical And Put The New Sony Lightscribe Drive In Its Place, Leaving Only The One New Sony Drive In The Pro, It Was Recognized By The System However Would Not Open Due To The Fact That The Opening On The Mac Was To Small For The Shelf Of The Drive To Open. It Was Blocked! WTF!
I Instantly Thought I Must Have Messed Up The Install, However I Thoroughly Checked It Over And There Is Really No Way For Me To Mess It Up. Due To Where The Screws Line Up. It's Not Possible To Screw Up! No Pun intended. So Whats Left Now? I Thought These Optical Drives Where Like Internal Hard Drives, USB's And Blank Disks...They Have Standard Dimensions For ALL CPU"S I Did not know that there are incompatible optical drives! Does Anyone Know A: What Drives Are Compatible With The Xeon Mac Pro?
My G5 power mac has a standard CD burner in it that came with it when I got it - its given up the ghost. So I am going to replace it with a DVD Burner. Would I be right in thinking I can throw any DVD Burner in there? If i get the latest Pioneer Tray loading burner, that would slot right in there no problems right?
Can you burn disks at 16X on a G4. I have a MDD and I'm not sure how fast the optical drive bus is but I could swear its an ATA-3 bus, which I think is either 16MBps or 33MBps. Not quite sure. Does anyone have one and can vauch the full 16 speed while burning.
I have a 1st generation MacPro with a Quad Xeon and 5 GB RAM. I need to get a blu ray burner. Does anyone out there know of a good quality burner that I can get for my machine? I've been looking online but I haven't been able to figure out which one is mac compatible.
an External Blu-Ray reader/burner for my computer and I assume it's best to have FireWire for my Mac but also i want USB since I'll use it on a Windows machine that has USB only.I have considered the below drive by OWC which is 12x
I Have a MacbookPro OSX 10.6.2 2gz intel core duo, recently i extracted a dvd burner from a crapped out dell laptop, it was the exact dimensions and looked identical to the old mac cd burner, so I installed it in my mac, and now my mac cant see the burner, When I go to "About this Mac" in the apple icon and click on disc burning it says "no disc burning device found". I wonder if theres a driver of some sort or do I have to re-install osx to get this working?
I have an EMac g4-255mb(just got 2 (256mb chips) never put in yet)-60gig running 10.4 (just got it) and now just got iLife 06) and then I have an 80gig external hard drive. So its like 140gig of room. But I only have a cd burner and dvd drive. Would it be cheaper to install an new internal drive? Or pay more for the external(cause there is no hard installation). What drives would work? And I have a $200 dollar gift card to bestbuy or futureshop.
I was hoping you could recommend me a Blu-Ray burner for my new Mac Pro.
From what I've found, these are the top 2 choices:

and

The second one is external - I prefer internal that I can drop into the Mac Pro. But it does have LightScribe - nice! Maybe there's something out there that is internal AND has LightScribe? Who here has installed a blu-ray burner into their Mac Pro?
I know the Mac Pro uses a smaller bezel for their tray loaders, so would regular retail drive work? I know I can remove the bezel, but if I don't have to I won't.I'm looking at the Pioneer 8x burner right now.
Anyone have a BD Burner that they use on their Mac Books or Mac Book Pro? I am interested in getting one to backup my images, I am a photographer and shoot in the RAW format. I also just purchased a new camera, where the uncompressed images are anywhere from 20-30MB a photo. So projects tend to be quite large.
