Mac Pro :: Installing Full Office After Deleting Trial
Oct 24, 2009
I loaded a trial version of MS Office 2007 for a college course. After the fact I remembered I purchased already a full version for my iMac. Once I removed the trial version from my Mac Pro and installed the full version, I continue to get a err message stated "this id doesn't support this version of enterprise". I removed and reinstalled the full version several times with no success. I need (I believe) to install the full Office 2007 for school projects. Or is their a good alternative to ensure all facilitators can view/open, and edit all of my submitted work.

Followed all instructions, trail version detected but after a few minutes the message "cannot uninstall: you are probably not logged in as administrator" Fact is that I AM the administrator, actually I am the only user of this iMac... Can anyone help? I just bought a full boxed business version of Office and I cannot install it before removing the trial version.

I installed the 2008 trial Office for mac, but after a few days and 1 use it tells me that the trial has expired. I have tried removing it as well as reference to it in receipts and library-preferences, but when I reinstall I get the same message. I downloaded another trial code, but it still tells me that it is expired. Where does mac store this information, or what other file do i need to remove to actually use to 30 day trial.

Rather than listing Office for Mac on the Mac App Store, Microsoft is offering a new 30 day free trial for the suite, something that can't be done through Apple's App Store. In contrast to smaller developers such as Pixelmator, which have embraced the new Mac App Store enthusiastically, Microsoft (along with Adobe) hasn't released any titles through the Mac App Store yet.
It has released Windows Live Messenger and Bing search apps in the iOS App Store, in addition to the new iPhone OneNote, a note taking component of Office for Windows that hasn't ever been ported to the Mac. Were Microsoft to release Office for Mac through the App Store, it would likely become a top selling title, much as iWork has on the iPad and Mac App Stores. There are some modifications Microsoft would need to make however, including not being able to install background processes, needing to be self contained, and being unable to use undocumented, private APIs....................

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5) Just a quick question, if I download the 30 day UK trial for iWork 09, will Apple automatically charge my account after 30 days and upgrade to the full lisence? I'm just cautious since I need the software, but don't want to buy the full package with the Mac App store opening soon, where I could buy the individual Apps cheaper. Also, will I be able to simply delete the trial version and the download the full version from the App store as a was of replacement?

Microsoft's Mac Business Unit this week is making available to Mac users a "fully functional, no strings attached" free trial of Office 2008 so that prospective buyers and users of previous versions can 'kick the tires' on new suite before plunking down the cash for a permanent copy. The 545 megabyte download is available after a quick registration over at the Redmond-based company's MacTopia website. The registration is required to generate an trial product key that will expire 30 days thereafter. Although Office 2008 for Mac made its debut over a year ago, this is the first time Microsoft has offered customers the option of trying the software before they buy it. The trial copy will run side-by-side with earlier versions of Office and includes a year's worth of maintenance and security improvements.
"The MacBU is aware that a number of customers have wanted to try Office 2008 for Mac before purchasing, and they have been working to make this available in tandem with updates to 2008," a representative for the software giant told AppleInsider.*"Today customers can now check out Office 2008 with the fixes and performance enhancements that have been made since launch." Once the 30-day product key expires, users will have the choice to either purchase a copy of the suite from an Apple authorized reseller or buy a product key from Mactopia online and be up and running without reinstalling. Of course, Microsoft fragments the office suite into various versions like it does its Windows operating system. A "Home and Student Edition" costs $149.95, the standard version is priced at $399.95, and the Special Media Edition fetches 499.95. However, Amazon.com has these same editions listed for $111.99, $240.00, and $224.95, respectively. For a breakdown of what's included in each edition, see this article. Meanwhile, readers interested in familiarizing themselves with Office 2008 and the history of Office without downloading the software may want to check out AppleInsider's six-part series: Road to Mac Office 2008.[ View this article at AppleInsider.com ]

Ready to install Office 2011 for Mac. Currently we are running Office 2008 for Mac.
What is the best way to eliminate Office 2008 and to ensure a clean Office 2011 install?
For most Mac programs, I would normally drag the application folder to the trash, and then do a library search for some entries related to the program. Will this work for Office 2008 to Office 2011? I ask because the M$ installers seem to more than simply add the app to your app folder and update the libraries - and don't get me started on the horrors of the Windoze registry errors.

'scuse the ignorance - I was going to download the trial 'office' for MAC (before thining about purchasing) for home - only I've got the most painfully slow internet connection at home at the moment and it'll take years to download onto my iMAC. Can I download the trial MAC office onto my PC at work - and then stick on a memory stick or something and then take home to my iMAC? would this work? thanks! (and yes I know I need to do something about my internet connection but it costs bloody fortune to get a decent speed and I'm not in country long enough to get a long contract so I have to make do with crap speed while in Australia - at least at home).

I had Wine for a long time on my computer, and it worked well, loved it! However, when I got Steam for Windows through, and got *one* game on it, my storage started to disappear!!!! I have a Macbook Air with 128 GB, and half of that was used up. I got Steam and a game that was about 1,300 bytes. After I deleted the game file through steam, my storage went down... I decided to delete Steam, and it went down more... I currently have 16 GB left. Whenever I delete things, my storage left goes down more, or seems to.

my mac had a lot of unused files so I downloaded "Disc Inventory X" to clean up my hard drive. I start searching using the app and I deleteted like a good 40 gigs. Then I notice a folder called ".Trash" that has everything that I recently deleted in it! I also notice that .Trash is one of the few folders where you can't delete the contents. how do you permanently delete files so they actually get deleted and not moved into a different place where you can't delete them? And how do you delete all the files in .Trash?

Not sure, but for some reason my mac hard drive has got to be 95% full. I know where all the things I put on my laptop are and have added them up and they do not equal up to 132 GB of space. I have deleted the Previous Systems folder which was taking up a lot of space. Where are there more mysterious locations that are taking up space that are not needed and safe to delete?

I keep getting the "Startup Disk is almost full" error message even though I know I had plenty of available memory. After searching the forums here, I downloaded Cocktail and cleared the caches, logs, and temporary files. I made hidden files visible, and I found in /private/var/tmp tons of files have been written taking up every bit of available space, even after running Cocktail's chron. A sample filename is 476deede776c8. I deleted these files, rebooted my computer, and I had the space back. BUT, this morning, when I started up, the memory disappeared again and these type of files were again gobbling up my disk space.
I booted from the system install disk to run disk utility. It says my hard disk is fine, but I can't repair permissions. Something about no packets or invalid packets.
I just went through the motions again with Cocktail and deleted the over 5Gb of temporary files, and so far, so good, but what can I do to stop this from continuing to happen?
These problems started after trying to download some printer drivers from HP's website, which was so slow I halted the downloads and cancelled them. I tried installing the one driver that downloaded, and onto a different user than the root system, as per HP's recommendation. This meant I had to use the system install disk to reset my passwords because my password wasn't working. I don't know if any of these actions caused the problem, are part of the problem, or are a separate problem. I can't afford to spend an hour a day, 2 or 3 times a day, erasing these pesky files so I can use my boot drive. Any advice, specific directions, and/or explanations are desperately needed.
I am running Mac OS 10.3.9 on a PowerMac G4 450Mhz, 800Mb RAM. I was using Firefox when the problems started.

I'm a former windows user and I'm still learning about OS X. I hate installing programs that leave behind all kinds of files though, especially when they slow your system down like in windows. I'm wondering, when you download, install, and then uninstall widgets, do files get left behind afterwards?

Recently just bought a macpro and my roommate had a copy of office. I installed it, but it reached the max capacity of installations already so I uninstalled it and bought a new copy and new product key. Everything works great, but when I am on the same network as my roommate and try to open up a MS application, it tells me that I have reached the max capacity for installations under my roommates product key. The installation process does not ask to me to input my new product key so I am on why it is telling me I am still on his and what I need to do next.

When I get about halfway through installing Office it asks me to sign in as administrator, but won't recognise my name or password. Any clues?
Also when logging in, my space bar won't work unless I press the alt key down at the same time.

I installed Vista Ultimate on my Rev B. MBA last night and nearly everything has been fine.
However, some of the Microsoft updates continually fail, primarily the Office 07 SP2 update, which I really would like.
Also, the keyboard backlighting worked fine initially, and could be controlled with the function keys, but since installing 79 updates overnight to bring the OS up to speed, my keyboard backlighting no longer works in Vista, but everything else controlled by the fn keys work as they should. When I press the keyboard backlighting fn keys, it just comes up dimmed out and with a circle with a line through it indicating that I can't use it.

I am brand new today to Mac. I'm a PC user of 15 + years. I purchased a brand new IMac today, 2.66 ghz, 4 gigs of ram, etc. I purchased a copy of MS Office 2008 along with it as I need it for school. The computer came with an upgrade to Snow Leopard so I installed that first, had no issues. I am now trying to install my copy of Office and it keeps spitting out the CD. I put in a music cd and it played fine.

I just got a copy, with multiple licenses from work of Microsoft 2008, since my new MacBook Pro didn't have it...it only had the trial version. I Installed it the other day, but every time I click to open anything up, it comes up with the free trial version and asks me to put in a product key, or buy one.
