View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought Office 2011 for mac from a reputable academic download company. I downloaded the file today and tried to launch the disk image, but when I do I just get a message that it couldn't be launched because it is 'unrecognised'. Why? I did a Yahoo search but couldn't find an answer. Would some bright spark amongst you please come to my aid?
I am using a new MBA running Snow Leopard, if that makes a difference.
I installed the 2008 trial Office for mac, but after a few days and 1 use it tells me that the trial has expired. I have tried removing it as well as reference to it in receipts and library-preferences, but when I reinstall I get the same message. I downloaded another trial code, but it still tells me that it is expired. Where does mac store this information, or what other file do i need to remove to actually use to 30 day trial.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled my Mac and I lost iWork '08. I have the serial written down but I don't know where the heck my disc is to install it. This is my 2nd time reinstalling my mac in a few days and the 1st time I did I googled it and found a link to download it. Now when I search google it's not there anymore and I don't know what my exact keywords that I used to find the links were. I have iWork 09 as well but I need '08 to convert my keynotes to be compatible with the '05 version (school uses that.). It's quite stupid that Keynote 09 can only save to be compatible with 08 but not 06 or 05.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was at an Apple Store this weekend and playing around with the new MBA. I noticed that they had MS Office 2011 installed already. I checked out the version number and it's 14.0.1, build 101008. Anybody knows if this version is just Apple store, or it'll be an update?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac is in it's near-finished form (Beta 4) but it seems none of the last 4 Betas, or the Messenger Beta app seems to be able to run under PowerPC architecture, which sucks considering Microsoft bragged on allot about Office 2008 being a Universal app but now it seems like they want to abandon it completely. This is a terrible decision since I use a PowerPC mac and so does my school (They went crazy on iMacs and PowerMacs in early 2006). And I know you'd say to me why not just get a Mac mini, but I just can't afford one and my school would have to rework their whole server aswell as splash out. I love the new interface and icon designs for office but it seems it's time to switch to iWork. It doesn't seem right of MS to abandon PowerPC support in Messenger just for the sake of video chat, Skype, Yahoo!, AIM and others all still support this yet they are Universal and don't have any problems doing so.
View 3 Replies View RelatedRumors are floating about of the imminent release of Apple's iWork '10. Also, Microsoft is saying Office:mac 2011 will be released near the end of the year. I go to a school that runs completely on PCs, and yes, completely running Office. This is going to be my sophomore year. On my Mac I currently run iWork '09. Over the past year I've grown to love it and its features, many of which are not available for Office. However, all of the documents my teachers send me are Office-based, and all of the papers I have to hand in online must be in Office format (.doc, .xls, .ppt). iWork can export as these formats, but it's a hassle. There's my backstory. Now here's my question for the good people of the MacRumors Forums. I love the features of iWork, but Office is SO much more compatible. When the new software gets released, should I get iWork '10 or Office:mac 2011? I like upgrades, so I'm going to get one. I was thinking about getting both, but that could be expensive, and as a student, I don't have much money. What would you do, and what do you think I should do?
View 24 Replies View RelatedFollowed all instructions, trail version detected but after a few minutes the message "cannot uninstall: you are probably not logged in as administrator" Fact is that I AM the administrator, actually I am the only user of this iMac... Can anyone help? I just bought a full boxed business version of Office and I cannot install it before removing the trial version.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI loaded a trial version of MS Office 2007 for a college course. After the fact I remembered I purchased already a full version for my iMac. Once I removed the trial version from my Mac Pro and installed the full version, I continue to get a err message stated "this id doesn't support this version of enterprise". I removed and reinstalled the full version several times with no success. I need (I believe) to install the full Office 2007 for school projects. Or is their a good alternative to ensure all facilitators can view/open, and edit all of my submitted work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got the pleasure to get my hands on the retail version of Office 2011. Yes, it's the retail version, not beta. I know it's not being released for another month. I haven't had much time to play around with it as I got it today but so far, the experience has been nothing more but positive. The apps feel very responsive. Actually, it feels like I'm using Office in Windows Outlook seems to be pretty equal to the Windows version. I don't know what to test so please ask if you have anything on your mind that I could try. I've included a screenshot of every app, feel free to take a look!

View 14 Replies View RelatedOne of the coolest features I was looking for in Office Home 2011 was the co-authoring online, like you can do it in google docs. Yet I can't find the option. Do you need the business version with share-point for that?
Further, do other people need to have the new version too?
Office 2011 comes localised to 13 languages (I mean interface). I have an english one, is there a way of switching the UI language? Or buy a langPacks like they do for office for windows?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter finally buying my new 2.66GHz i7 MBP and a fresh copy of MS Office 2011, I was excited to finally have a copy of Office that performed quickly / speedily / comparable in speed to any new Windows machine I've ever used. Not so much. Every copy of Office for Mac I've had has been super slow. I'm talking 20 bounces (minimum) to open, pinwheel to do many functions, etc. Every copy of Office I've used on any Mac has had some degree of sluggishness.
I can't understand it! My bare bones Windows 7 computer (with much slower specs than my new i7) launches Office instantly, no lag, no problems! Why is Office plagued with speed issues? It's absolutely maddening. As a side note, I have always preferred the Windows version of Office to the Mac-skinned version MS gives us. I can't be alone here, can I? How does Office run on a hex-core Mac?
Rather than listing Office for Mac on the Mac App Store, Microsoft is offering a new 30 day free trial for the suite, something that can't be done through Apple's App Store. In contrast to smaller developers such as Pixelmator, which have embraced the new Mac App Store enthusiastically, Microsoft (along with Adobe) hasn't released any titles through the Mac App Store yet.
It has released Windows Live Messenger and Bing search apps in the iOS App Store, in addition to the new iPhone OneNote, a note taking component of Office for Windows that hasn't ever been ported to the Mac. Were Microsoft to release Office for Mac through the App Store, it would likely become a top selling title, much as iWork has on the iPad and Mac App Stores. There are some modifications Microsoft would need to make however, including not being able to install background processes, needing to be self contained, and being unable to use undocumented, private APIs....................
so ive been searching around the web and i cant find a trial for this, i've looked everywhere! i heard this is buggy so i want to try out beforebuying, help me out homeboys
View 19 Replies View RelatedI purchased Office 2008 for Mac from the Apple store at the end of August and as part of the Technology Guarantee, I'm eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2011. Purchase a qualifying Office 2008 for Mac product between Aug. 1, 2010, and Nov. 30, 2010, and you will be eligible to download Office for Mac 2011 at no additional cost* when it becomes available. My question is...should I do it? Does anyone have any experience or insight into Office 2011? Also...I'm not sure if this should be a determining factor, but my purchased copy of Office 2008 came with three product keys. Apparently if I upgrade to 2011, I only get one product key. Big deal?
View 23 Replies View RelatedThis is the worst piece of software I have ever used. Before I even use it.
It does not accept the product key provided in the box (ordered from amazon). I have tried virtually every possible misprint/mispelling of the product key... but the product key seems to be easy enough to read to me...
Microsoft's site has no support number listed. Microsoft assigns you installation a unique number, then does not accept it for help on the support site.
Office 2011, you are a steaming pile of crap, and it will be a cold day in hell before I buy another Microsoft product.
Is there an online user guide for Office 2011?

Unfortunately, i had already had a different version of office for mac that contained a different name (my friend's) who had licensed the product and registered for it. Now that i paid and have office for mac 2011, i'd like the product to be installed, licensed and registered under my name. unfortunately, i don't know how to change the name that says it's still registered to, when it should be registered to me now.
