There's speculation that it's L2 cache is bigger than the 3mb used on the slower mac mini core2duo's.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I purchased a stereo output to composite red/white cables. I then plugged the HDMI and composites cables into the receiver, but the it reads only the HDMI (which should include audio and video), or composite (yellow, red, white). If you have HDMI plugged it, it doesn't read from the composite, and vise-versa. So how exactly can I fix this? Why doesn't Apple have the HDMI contain audio and video (like most things, PS3, 360, consoles)? This is really odd and I cannot really use it as a home theatre system at the moment. I was hoping that it wasn't my receivers fault (2008 fancy Denon receiver, cost a few grand), but if it was to find some kind of converter that takes HDMI and stereo out, and outputs it as HDMI with audio/video.

System Preferences > Network > Show: Airport
Click on TCP/IP button
I see the box for DNS server info, but it's blank.
I want to know which DNS server(s) my computer is hooking up to to determine whether it's infected with a certain malware. (See [url]...) It sounds outlandish, I'm only concerned because my roommate's computer is infected and we share a wireless network, which can also apparently be compromised.

Well I am not sure what to make of all this, I am connected to the internet via a Airport Extreme, and sites that tell you your IP say
But when I run ifconfig | grep "inet" in Terminal, I get this stuff
So what exactly is this telling me?
I want to install Windows XP on my Mac mini (Late 2006)
The thing is I bought it off ebay so i don't have any of the installation disks so I'll need to download the drivers off the net.
I've recently received my refurbished March 2009 Mac Mini. I want to use it as a media center and have an harmony remote that I would like to use to control it (mostly for boxee). My problem is that I can't seem to find a way to pair my remote with it. Let me explain.
So I launched Logitech Harmony Remote Software and added a new device, the Apple Mac Mini. I then updated my remote and finally updated my remote. Now, I have a macbook pro and a mac mini. Without pairing anything, I can effectively control the sound on my macbook pro, but not on my Mac Mini. Yes I've checked in the system pref in both machines, nothing is paired and I do not have a real apple remote.
If I use the pair function, it does pair with my macbook pro and keep controlling it and still does nothing on the mac mini (expected). If I unpair it then close my macbook pro and use the pair function near my mac mini, it still do not want to pair.My question is, aside from bringing it to the apple store to get it checked, is there a way to test if my IR port is working on my mac mini?
I am just updated to Mac OS X 10.5.8 so that I could use itunes. But now I get a message that says that to Open the latest version of itunes (that I just downloaded), I need I need Quicktime 7.5.5 or later. I've tried "updating existing software" in the Quicktime menu, but no updates are found. I've also been to the quicktime download page on apple.com and tried that, but no dice.

How do you find out system specs on Mac OS9? All it tells me on "about this computer" is the RAM and memory used by certain applications. How do I see the hard drive size, processor speed etc...? In Mac OSX you use the system profiler, but what about OS9?

View 10 Replies View Relatedoriginal 2.66 dual mac pro and for the longest time the mac would randomly lock. It would be on for a couple of days and just lock, sometimes it would be a few weeks. I checked the console and did not see anything as to why, just that the logs stopped.I started by taking out drives (have 3 drives) which did nothing, then i started with the ram. I've got 2gigs of apple ram (4x512s) and 2x2gb of non apple ram. I first removed a gig of the apple ram (2x512) and noticed from multiple weeks it doubled the time i would see lock ups (could be a coincidence). I finally removed the last 2 sticks of apple ram and my machine hasn't locked up since.

I see that locate is installed on my Mac but invoking it does not always find what I am looking for I thought that maybe I need to update the database but $ sudo slocate -u gives me a command not found error. Someone was messing with my Power Book 2400 and moved an OS file from its library location. Now I can't shut it down. So it looks like I need to reinstall the OS. I have the disk but it's a CD. This little guy only takes floppies -- via external drive. I've looked on eBay, but no floppy version of the OS. What do I do now?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have dual monitors connected to my 2010 Mac mini (the first model of Mac mini to support two separate monitor outputs) and I have it in extended desktop mode. (Different content on both monitors)
When I first attached my secondary monitor, the resolution was correct. However, ever since a power outage several years ago the monitor's resolution ratio is different. The monitor's resolution is now 1280 x 1024, but the ratio is off for my Widescreen monitor. It isn't the default "widescreen", but it isn't a square either. Because of this ratio mismatch, all the content on that monitor is stretched out horizontally. (From side to side)

I have a MacBook Pro running OSHave been trying to create a bootable CD. Have found a number of ways on the net of doing this using Toast, BootCD, DiskCopy, etc. But every one requires the system folder from an original Mac OSXCD. 2 installation disks came with my MacBook, Install Disks 1&2. I can find a system folder, but it contains thousands of folders. I must be missing something.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMe and some friends were messing around on Photo Booth and we took a lengthy video (about 10 minutes) to put up on Youtube. We weren't done with the video and everything was still recording when I left for a minute. When I returned, Photo Booth was closed. My friend has never used a Mac before and he's not sure what he did. He says he was trying to quit out of another program and he might've accidentally quit Photo Booth. Either that, or he pressed the X, thinking it was the minimize button on Windows.Anyways, where is the part of the video that we actually recorded? Did the entire thing not get saved at all just because we might've quit out of the program near the end of our video?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAter charging it the other day I noticed a "service battery" error which went away the next. I checked the power section in the System Utilities and I noticed that my battery has shifted from "Good" to "normal" and I'm now at 469 cycles which I do not understand I also notice a very quiet humming-- I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid and searching for problems or if there's a correlation amongst the issues. I've let the battery wear it self down and shut down and sit for a few hours and fully charge which has helped, but now it only holds charge for about 3-4 hours or so, opposed to the 5 hours I got when I initially bought it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIt seems I have to go a roundabout way in order to connect to the Internet using a USB Dial-Up modem. I thought you could double click on the Safari icon on the Dock and get connected to the Internet. But every time I try to do this, the Diagnostics page keeps cropping up. The only method I have found to get connected is thru the Network folder under System Preferences, which to me is a backhanded alternative to what should be a more direct means by clicking directly on the Safari icon. Is there something wrong with my Internet set-up causing this run around? Also, I am unclear as to whether my 20" screen is setup properly?
Is it true that in order have the sharpest screen readout/visual appearance and still cover the complete display area that everything seems actually smaller than when compared to a 17" inch display usage (which is the size of the LCD monitor I am using with a Power Mac). Finally, what is the best source to find out all about my iMac & its features? The documentation sent is very scant. Aside from the petite booklets (with same information repeated on the computer), is there any extremely pertinent guide I am overlooking that comes with the computer? Any other major sources?
