I've had this iMac about a year now, and i have had this problem for a while but thought i'de leave it for abit and see if it heals its self. As sometimes the line is more visible than other times and sometimes it's not even there!
I have 2 pictures which i snapped with my iPhone, so i will link you too them.
The line is not majorly visible, but it is just annoying considering i payed �1000 for this iMac.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to print iCal with Mondays in the left hand side column. My calendar prints with Tuesday in the left hand column even though it displays Mondays in the left hand column when in normal use.

I have only recently started noticing this, it is mostly visible on the white screen at boot up but just faintly noticed it now against my background.
It is a fading black line going down the left hand side of the screen, it starts at the top kind of fades in the middle then comes out again.
I honestly have no idea what this is, i will try catch a picture on my phone soon and post it up.

UPDATE: Sometimes the line is clear, sometimes it is faint and even sometimes it isn't even there!
What are the little widgety things under our usernames to the left hand side of the message windows? Why are they labelled "Rule '1'" and similar? When did they appear? I'm sure they weren't there last time I logged in...

It's only today that I noticed my MacBook's right speaker is considerably louder than the one on the left. I opened Sound panel in System Preferences to see if the balance was off, but it was set at dead center. Then, I dragged the balance slider all the way to the left to see if the sound coming from the left speaker was okay at all. Well, it sure isn't. Very muffled, muddy sound. No highs at all. Dragging the slider to the right side reveals a very different sound texture. Very crisp, as it should be. Really weird. Anybody else experiencing this odd speaker behaviour?
I googled for this problem and found this thread, right here on Mac Forums. It's a thread for the MacBook Pros, though. The people with a MacBook Pro think it's because there's a subwoofer on the right side. Well, the MacBook doesn't have a subwoofer, so it can't be that. Any ideas? Is it repair time?
By the way, I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook, the 2,4GHz model.

I just noticed as I was testing web sites in Safari that my cursor remains as an arrow instead of turning into a hand on images or text that are links. This is new behavior.

I'm just curious as to how many people use mice in their left hand. I was looking at some old macintosh pictures and a lot of them have the mouse on the 'other' side. I'm left handed, yet I have grown up with right handed mice and it feels awkward to use a mouse in my left hand now. When I was finished moving things around, a small square icon appeared in the left hand corner of the screen that cannot be dragged to another location or deleted. Whenever I click, it a small screen pops up momentarily, saying that it's going to open a file (I deleted the file) and nothing happens. After I deleted the file, the small square box just contains a picture of a question mark. I'm trying to get rid of it, but I don't know how to.

For a while I've been running a Beta version of iTunes, the one that worked with the iOS 4.2 Beta. So with the final release of iOS 4.2.1, I decided to uninstall and install the final version of iTunes. All went well with the uninstall/install, except that I noticed that in the left side bar, there is no selection for my Apps. Is this normal?

I noticed that....on SMC Fan Control...it only shows that I have a "Left Side" fan. Are Macbook Pros suppose to have only 1 fan ? Or is mine not functioning? Here is a screenshot [URL].

View 11 Replies View RelatedMy lid seems to overhang very VERY slightly over the left side of the case. I got some people in my family to look at it, and they honestly don't even notice it. The distance is the thickness of a piece of paper. So small it is barely noticeable when looked at, but you can feel a slight difference when you rub your finger over the edge. Should I be concerned about this? I would take pictures of it, but the Macro mode on my camera isn't good enough to properly show this issue. Go Figure... Will this affect hard shell cases? I've also learned something. People that are O.C.D. really have a hard time enjoying their Macs. Seems like we spend more time scrutinizing every square inch of our equipment that we actually spend enjoying it.
