I haven't used the DVD drive very much at all since I've had it (about 3 years), but was watching some DVDs yesterday. The drive worked fine. Today, when I tried to insert another DVD, I physically can't do it - it only goes in halfway and the drive won't suck it in. There is nothing stuck in the drive, no other disc. There is nothing wrong with the disc I am trying to insert. It doesn't work for any disc any more.
I have tried many different suggested restart fixes, holding down the eject button while starting, resetting PRAM, etc etc. this DVD drive has physically failed after I've hardly ever used it... Is there anything I can do short of taking it in for repair? It's not under warranty any more.
I purchased a new MM yesterday to replace one I bought 5 years ago. Everything is working great on it, but I have a mystery device called 'Remote Disc' in the Finder device list. I have attached a screen shot. When I insert a CD a new listing for the CD device is made & 'Remote Disc' remains.
How many of you would like to see a HDMI Port? Why the miniDisplay port? Why not remove ethernet jack and miniDisplay port and replace it with a HDMI port. That way one HDMI cable feeds digital video AND audio. Am I the only one thinking of this?
I ejected one cd and then tried to insert another and it is like there is something inside. It won't grab the cd. I tried to re-insert the same one and the same thing happened.
I'm kinda new to apple, and love it. I recently started playing UT2004, and to get something, I need the insert key. I searched all over google, and found some stuff, that won't work in the game itself. So does anyone know how to replace/or a key combo to do the 'insert-key' in games.
I installed a dvd into my imac and everytime I want to watch it I have to eject the dvd then reinsert it for it to start to play.Is there a way I can get the dvd to play without ejecting it first.
All of a sudden, when I type a word, nothing is there.i'm in the middle of an email, and there has not been a problem until suddenly. Is there an "insert" key perhaps?

I am trying to insert a 4 Gb SD/HC (unlocked) card into the iMac desktop to view some recently exposed photos. I have tried inserting it both ways, with the Sandisk label facing me and facing away from me. In both cases, the card detection does not show on the screen. Amazingly the 900-page book "Mac OS X Lion, the missing manual" does not even discuss SD card usage for the iMac.I have looked into My Computer and in Lightroom 3, and it does not show in either places. What am I doing wrong?
I am trying to insert a disk. When I put it in, it usually just nicely goes in. Now, there seems to be something blocking it as I push it in. There isn't anything in there that I know of. I've tried ejecting and even tried looking under disk utilities.
I cannot insert a disc into my drive. Not sure it is relevent, but I was using cds last night and ejected a disc, but left it half-way out of the drive overnight. After removing the disc this morning, it will not let me insert another one. I restarted the computer, but the problem remains. I have a 27-inch intel Imac.
Two days ago I listened to an audio CD. It played and ejected fine, but now I cannot insert a disk. I have restarted and also unplugged and restarted, but no luck. Disk utility shows the drive, but says it is waiting for me to insert a disk which I can't do. (27" Intel iMac, i3 proc, ident: iMac11,3, Sys: 10.6.8)
I already went to system preferences and clicked on Input Sources and did all that jazz. I have the flag in the upper right hand corner and I can view the different characters but there is no way to input them? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. + I'm new to Mac.
I forgot to test this in Page '08 before the trial period expired, so I hope you don't mind me asking here!
Can you insert mathematical equations into a Pages '08 word processing document, like you can in Word '04 with the Microsoft Equation Editor (and similarly in AppleWorks with Equation Editor)?
