I know this is a pretty elementary question, but this is my first time using a dual monitor setup. What I would like to do is be able to browse on one monitor while watching video files full screen on another monitor. Is this possible? If so what do I need to do to make it so the smaller monitor doesn't go black once I enter full screen on the larger monitor?
View 8 RepliesI have a Samsung 2033SW hooked up to my mac and whenever I play video full-screen on on screen (either the laptop or the samsung), the other screen blacks out. This happens whether I use VLC, RealPlayer or Quicktime. How do I set it up so that I can play full-screen video on one and still be able to use the other screen for other stuff?
I'm pretty sure it's not because there aren't enough resources because I can still play "fit-to-screen" on one screen and still have access to the other screen.
I just bought a new monitor to use as a secondary display with my MBP. I'm trying to watch a video in Firefox on my secondary display, when I try to watch the video in full screen and move back the mouse on my MBP display and click on that display. The video on my secondary display will exit full screen. How do I stop this from happening?

Many people say the Macbook air isn't built to be a laptop AND the main computer, BUT I'll have an external hd anyway, I don't need more power than needed for playing full HD and I haven't used a real dvd/cd in months...
As the headline says the right half of the screen turns black when watching video content in iTunes on full screen. I can see the whole picture when moving the mouse a little but as soon as the navigation bar disappears the right half of the picture disappears too. It does not matter what source it is. Both podcasts and movies work (or do not work) the same.Â
The problem doesn't occur for other player (VLC, XBMC etc.).Â
I have the latest OS (10.9.4) and iTunes (11.4). The computer is MBP 13-inch retina, late 2012 if it matters.Â

I recently had to erase and install Leopard. I then restored everything from my time-machine backup. The weird thing is, before, when watching streaming videos from the internet, the screen stayed at the same brightness, regardless of whether there was any mouse movement, or touching the keyboard, or anything. Now, if I don't do anything, the computer dims the screen, as if i wasn't watching a video.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi've noticed for a while now that everytime i watch videos on my macbook pro, using vlc player, sometimes the video picture would stop, and or stutter, if it would stop, the audio would go on, but the video remains stop, after a few seconds, before the video would resume, the video would be distort or scrambled for a few seconds before it would come back to normal, it had been happening for some time now, i thought it was just the software, so i tried another player, the mplayer for mac, and it still would stop at random times. but last night, after stuttering for every 10 minutes while watching the video, the screen on my macbook pro freezed. i cannot do anything, but my mouse is movable, and the caps lock on the keyboard still lights, but i cannot do anything but to do a hard reset, it is the first time that has happened to me, the screen freezing, and i don't know if it has anything to do with the stuttering of the video.

View 7 Replies View Relatedwas wondering if when your watching a youtube video or anything that makes the nvidia 330m kick in do you experience a lag when hitting the full screen button? I have the graphics switcher/indicator program installed and whenever I go to full screen it goes from intel to nvidia and there is a good 1-2 second delay from clicking the button to going to full screen. If I force 330m to be on at all times the lag goes away. This seem normal? You would think Apple would have ironed out this kink. It makes my computer go from feeling snappy to slow when my netbook can full screen faster.

It never really bothered me until I realized I needed the multi-tasking. Is there anyway to keep functionality on either screen when the other is in fullscreen mode?
View 2 Replies View RelatedInstalled without problems on a 3 y.o. 15MBP and a new iMac. See no performance issues so far, but I HATE the fact that the FULL SCREEN photo viewing is no longer there! I just hate it, that there is absolutely no way to view pictures full screen. period. (this was THE MOST important feature of iPhoto.) As such, zooming in full screen is NOT available anymore either, instead of floating windows with adjustments, etc., zoom, effects, you get stupid permanent bars that you can't even move anywhere. Also, gone is ability to quick launch a full screen slideshow. You are now asked to select photos for a slideshow first, and then create that slideshow. In Classic you will get an ability to view these full screen, thats the only way. The stupid music that accompanies classic is ... well, stupid. I just wish the Apple store in Bethesda MD had it installed so I could see how horrible it is, before giving them $79 for a Family Pack! My money now goes to Adobe for LR3, a much, much better suite! Forgot to mention, this version is NOT 64 bit, and it does not recognize dual-screen mode either, something that Adobe implemented years ago. Shame on APple for dummifying a simple photo viewer to the iPhone level.

I've been watching some tutorial online on different sites and I'm wondering why (it seemed to work at first) when I click to view in full screen mode the pointer stays on the screen. When watching a movie on dvd or full screen you tube video the pointer is supposed to disappear. Since I don't know my way around yet and what to look for I figured I'd throw it to the experts.

I have this problem for a while, when trying to play videos on youtube or in facebook, I cannot put them on full screen, a white page appears, and some times they simple don´t play at all.

Just got my new Retina MacBook Pro... when I try to get videos to go full screen in anything (youtube, cnn, etc.) only the top left 1/4th displays the video, while the rest of the screen is left blank and turns white. Using google chrome canary. What can I do to make videos go full screen?

Ever since I upgraded to flash player "square" I am unable to view flash videos through safari in full screen. When I press the button to initiate full screen my screen turns black and I need to press the esc key to get back to the desktop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy MBP was updated from 10.5.2 to 10.5.4 (combined update) this morning and, after the installation finished, it rebooted into a blue screen. I restarted it several times and always went into blue screen.
Now, the interesting part is that this is not the "blue screen after install" problem others are experiencing. If I disconnect the external monitor during restart and wait for OS X to start everything works fine. After OS X starts properly I can even reconnect the external monitor and it works fine. In fact I am writing this post from my MBP using the external monitor right now.
Since some document on the Apple Support website was suggesting to remove the file ApplicationEnhancer.bundle in System/Library/SystemConfiguration when experiencing blue screens after the install of 10.5.4, I did look in that folder for that file but it's not there...
Trying to watch a vid in itunes on my external monitor but when I try to go fullscreen it blanks out my MBP's display so I can't do anything else.
I have my MBP hooked up to my TV. I was trying to get Front Row to run on my external monitor without having to move the Menu Bar over, but I quickly realized that was not going to be possible. My next idea was to play the videos straight from iTunes and just make them Full Screen. Having the videos playing over there works okay (my MBP screen is still normal), but as soon as I press Full Screen my MBP goes black. Is there any way to run full screen iTunes on my TV without losing functionality from my MBP?

When I put itunes into full-screen mode, both screens are used, making the external show the movie, and the iMac go black.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a DVI->HDMI cable to connect my Powerbook to my Sony LCD TV. The Sony's native resolution is 1366x768. For some reason my Powerbook doesn't want to switch to this resolution. I can get 1280x720, but this leaves a black border around the images the whole time.
I've tried setting a custom resolution using the trial version of SwitchResX but to no avail. It won't do it.
Anybody have any similar experiences and possibly found a fix?
I currently have my MacBook hooked up to a second 20" display. My problem is that I want to play fullscreen Flash video, eg. from BBC iPlayer or direct from the BBC site, on one monitor and not have it affect what goes on on the second monitor.
Each time I open a Flash video on my MacBook monitor in fullscreen, if I then click anywhere on my second monitor, the video always falls out of fullscreen mode back into windows mode. Is there a way round this? I'd like to watch this content fullscreen but do other tasks on my other primary monitor.
So I have several concert videos that Ive downloaded. The files are labeled like this:
vts_01_01.vob , vts_01_02.vob, etc
On a windows machine these open up automatically, and some have menus that are functional, and all files play one after another.
On my mac, I had to download an app called VLC to play these files, but the thing is, once one file is done I have to manually open the next, and any menus that are present are non functional.
How can I get these videos to work on a mac the same way the do on a pc?
i tried clicking every single button inside the youtube video like the pause, full and annoations, then i took my mouse out and i tried to right click the settings, after opening it, the settings box was INSIDE the video, and i cant click it, sooo, is it my mac or is it youtube problems, since its in beta mode, coz, if its my mac ima go to the technitions
