Intel Mac :: What Does AHT Error 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1324
Mar 10, 2012
My wife's computer has been acting up a little lately. It's a iMac 20 Intel 2.66 early 2008 running Lion 10.7.3 I managed to run the AHT and received the error 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1324 General findings are that the hard drive is failing. Is this correct and can my Apple store replaces it at a reasonable cost or should I just buy a new one?

Recently, my daughter experienced massive Finder problems (continual spinning beachball with freezes, Force Quit unresponsive) on her iMac (Intel Dual Core 2008 Model). Eventually, she got nothing but a flashing question-mark on a restart. Before reinstalling system software, I ran an Apple Hardware Test and it reported "No Problems". Disk Utility reported "Volume OK". Archive and install failed twice. I was able to retrieve and copy her home folder slaving the sick iMac to my operating G5 using Target Disk Mode. Following that, I did a complete erase and install of the OS.
However, AFTER reinstalling the OS, I ran Hardware Test again and it reported the following error "4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1330". I suspect this may mean that her 1GB ram chip is going bad, but I am not sure. Does anyone know what this error means?
What means hardware test fault 4Mot/4/40000003:HDD-1255? I´m searching for the reason of frequent freezing and finder freezing, freezing in Safari too, and got this result with extended Apple hardware test from CD. Checking volume by Lion recovery tells: volume seems to be o.k.

I'm trying to empty the trash on my iMac (running Snow Leopard) but I just get an error message: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code - 8003).Â
I am receiving an error 5.5.4 "Invalid Email address error code 17099 indicating that mail could not be sent for Account name: "Msn". I have recently moved from a PC laptop and have been sent email messages to this account on my iMac successfully for several weeks. The email address in question is actively sending and receiving messages. I can receive email from that account.
I can't for the life of me find out why this keeps coming up? I turned off file share, checked the applications bar, and can't track it? There is a box that pops up with three people holding hands, says: There was a problem connecting to the server "con-sd". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
I have a new Imac and for some reason over the last few days when I start up the machine it says it can not read the disc but I have no disc in and it asks me to either eject, confirgure or ignore.
Just returned from the apple store. They can't explain what happened but there is a FileVault error and it cant be fixed. We now have a parallel login but no software or files are on it. The tech at the store suggested someone who may be able to get into the FileVault. This just suddenly happened with no forewarning. The iMac is under a year old.
I am trying to create a new image .. and my hard drive is not listed on the left hand panel .. the other night it worked fine except it would keep locking up so i did a disc repair and then restarted when i did a restart to prepare for a fresh install i noticed my hard drive was no longer in the disc utlitity not sure why that is.. Now the Snow leopard disc is stuck in the drive and I am unable to eject the disc tried almost every ejection command there is nothing .. isnt there a way to mount the hard drive through the terminal?
Since a week or 3 my Imac is bleeping whenever the harddisk is put to work. Before this it was impossible to make a time machine copy, it would hang at a certain point. I recently did a disk utility scan which could not be finished (aborted by the system) as it was saying (translated from Dutch): Â
"Volume-information being checked Wrong amount of free blocks on this volume (Has to be 38684126 in stead of 38684119)The volume 'Macintosh HD' is damaged and need to be repaired.Error: this disk needs to be repaired. Restart system with another disk (like Mac OS X-installdisk) and use disk utility to repair this disk."Â
So I put the installdisk 1 in, but the Imac spits it out, refuses to start up in harddisk repair mode or any other mode at all. It just spits it out and starts as usual. Install disk 2 it doesnt spit out, but I can only open a read me file. Like said, the Imac works fine, except that it is guided by literaly hundreds of beeps in high and low, short and long. I feel like being at a supermarket having my items scanned. That is what it sounds like. It is quite vocal but annoying and seem to multiply every day. In the beginning it only did at start up just a few beeps, then it got more, and now it beeps also in sleep mode. Â
I cannot do a disk repair, also not with the latest OS X update (snowleopard, since Lion is not working on my 1GB drive). I do notice though that the difference in this error code is getting bigger, it used to be just one block difference, now it is 7.  Â
Also I took the memory modules out yesterday and put them back in, as I heard this can also help get rid of the beeps. It did not solve anything at all.I can't find anything on this problem on internet, because all beep related topics are about the error codes for the RAM drives. These are not the same sounds. Â Another attempt was to install the cms program to avoid overheating fans. Also no improvement.
I added files already, now I can't even make a new folder. I had time machine backing it up, then I excluded the hard drive. I do have Media encoder that's reading files from it currently, but that shouldn't be the issue. So confused. This error code is nowhere on the internet...
I have a ton of crappy on my computer and external drive, so I'm trying to erase it but the trash won't clear...I keep getting questions about removing unlocked files and then the 8003 error code. I dnt know what to do other than erase the hard drive...
i have MAC OS X Version 10.6.8. Every time I try to burn a disc, I get an error code 0x8002006E. I have tried using a variety of disks, speeds, etc and nothing seems to work. Also Apple's directions on disc burning are not that clear.

What does this mean and why is it happening? Is it normal? Doesn't happen with safari, but safari has been bugging out; doesn't quit properly. I have a mid 2011 imac 21.5.
On my new imac (version 10.7.3), every 20 minutes or so I get an error message that says, "you did not eject the disk properly" (even though I did not eject or remove or change anything)?
I have an HP Deskjet 5650 and though I am using genuine HP cartridges, I keep getting error messages that the cartridges are not compatible. I cannot seem to find the files to delete and do a clean install.
Safari has been quitting unexpectedly over the last few days. I have emptied cache but still doesnt work. Below is the crash report.Â

My wife registered my daughter for a school admission process online. We received a confirmation in a safari window and it said we need to print it. But then my mom closed that window in error. Now that program registration is full. Is there anyway I can retrieve that window. It is really important for us as a family.Â
I have an iMac with the latest Lion OSX. Will that page be saved somewherein the temporary files or cache? I also have full time machine backup.Â
