I have a PC for my work laptop (Dell Latitude) and have heard I should be able to link my iMac and the PC together. My questions are: a) Would it only be using the iMac as a secondary screen for the PC, meaning I would still need to use the keyboard/mouse from the PC? b) What is requred to link them together if I am able to use the iMac keyboard and trackpad to control the PC?
I tried to link to some websites (example: battle.net) that I was able to link to but failed. It said it cannot open the page because it cannot link to the server. All my other websites are fine.
I have just tried to link my imac (2007) to my HDTV via HDMI. As mini DVI port won't carry audio I've used a separate phono to RCA stereo cable as well. Mirroring is fine but still no audio.
If I cut and paste a web link into an email, it does not become a hyperlink. The recipient cannot simply click on the link, it appears just as regular text. I use Hotmail.
I use safari on my imac. I was able to access a shared link (to access a briefcase) via a university website. It requires me to enter ID and password to access the briefcase. It also requires me to enter my ID and password whenever I click a new file in the briefcase. The shared link was okay until I let Safari remember my password. Now when I click the shared link, it says "Error 404! No such item". I am not able to access that shared link.
I tried to log on my imac with another user/account, and found out that the shared link is still working. I also tried to use my macbook and the link is working as well. So i guess that it must be something wrong when I let Safari remember my password the first time when I accessed that link. I have done Safari Reset and cleared all history, cookies, passwords, etc... but I am still not able to access that link under my own account.
The website where I pay bills online has a hot link that says "print" and when I click on it, the printout is in a teeny tiny font.
The document that I print after paying each bill is the confirmation of the payment transaction. But it's almost too small to be read without a magnifying glass.
I can't find where or how to increase the font size of the printout. Firefox preferences doesn't include any sort of font size preference to choose from; and my printer application in Settings doesn't list font sizes to choose from or to set as my default size.
PageSetup allows me to choose a paper size, but not a font size.
My computer is an iMac G5; MAC OSX 10.6.8 My printer is a Canon MX850

I found a utility that allows me to copy a file's location to the clipboard, but is there a way to create a link to a file location? I'd like to be able to send co-workers a link to files or folders on shared servers, so they can just click the link and get to that location in their Finder. I seem to remember doing this with Windows. Can it be done in OS X?
got a problem with my Optoma projektor, since i?m using a OPPO HM-31 hdmi switch that doesn?t support Dual-link DVI, so my macpro can?t display anything and just keep switching between desktop and blue screen. I?m connectting from 2600xt via dvi-hdmi through a hdmi cable. Without the switch there?s no problem.
Q: Is it possible to by bypass Dual-link DVI, so that my hdmi-switch only receives a Single-link DVI signal?
Im looking to buy on of these adapters from apple and I'm not sure which to purchase. I know the single link adapter would be good for the 24in monitor ill be hooking it up to about half the time, but the other half of the time ill have it hooked up to either a 40in or 52in HDTV. Will the single link be able to handle this or will I need,or am I at least better off with the dual link adapter? On a side not, what does the dual link actually offer over the single link, and what is the usb adapter on it for?
I am running SL on my Intel MacBook. Since I upgraded to either SL or Safari 4, I have not been able to type a link and have it add www. and .com to the link automatically. For example, typing "google" and having it automatically add the .com to it. I've done some searching, and found out about OpenDNS. I would much rather not use anything like that to get my .com back. Does anyone know of a way to tweak some settings in Safari or SL to get it to do this automatically again?

I am a computer teacher. I have a variety of PowerPoint presentations I would like to link together as one presentation to present to parents. I do not know how to do this. Any information I have found is for linking using a PC but doesn't seem to work on a MAC. I have Powerpoint 2004.
I need to substitue a word/phrase with a web address. Example: Go here where when clicking on here opens a website. Is there an easy way to do this within a a website? I run a bulletin board and reference websites. I would like to put a word or phrase instead of teh website address.
I'm running OS 10.5.8 and using Firefox 3.5.7. When I Google something and click a result, 75% of the time I am redirected somewhere that was not the destination of the link. Other times I'll click a link and a giant white browser window will open behind current window taking up my whole screen. Another frequent occurrence is being directed to the site "theclickcheck". I have a registered version of MacScan and it comes up with nothing and my software is up to date. Where do I go from here?
I've searched for an hour but couldn't find anything but opening by dragging onto the tab bar. I've used a plug-in for firefox for years to open a link in a new tab by dragging the said link to anywhere on the page. Anything like it for Safari?
So I found a random link to a file thats maybe 500 MB, but I cant figure out what kind of file it is. Don't ask why I downloaded a random file, but what can I do to open the file and figure out what it is?
Does anyone have the link to a free download for winzip mac (assuming one exists)? If the freeware version does exist, is it a good app? Meaning, if I want to send a file that is 30MB, what will is zip it to: 2, 5, 10. Or is there a totally better product out there, (one that I can send to friends with PC's and macs)?
I have a feeling this should work. I have wireless internet from school, however I do not have the wireless router for my xbox. Is there a way I can link the macbook and xbox via ethernet cord and use the wireless connection that my notebook gets and transfer it to my xbox to play on live?
i used to transfer files between MAC and PC by using an USB Link cable. everything worked perfectly when i used Windows XP and OS9.x on MAC. now i have changed to OSX (10.4.11) but unfortunately the manufacturer didn't upgrade the file transfer software to OSX. only OS9 is supported. OSX does recognize the USB link cable in the system informations but PC Windows XP doesn't recognize MAC as a remote machine, because of no special software running or installed on the mac.
my question: is there a special software out there who might be able to use this USB-Link cable to transfer files between MAC and PC and makes PC-Linq able to recognized MAC as a remote machine? the cable i use is a discontinued product and the manufacturer already answered me that there won't be an update for OSX for the software which is called usbdatabridge.
i'm using the follwing: PC: Windows XP (Software: PC-Linq) MAC: OSX 10.4.11 USB Link cable: UN-161 (Aten)
does anyone know another good USB link cable? i urgently need a cable that works with PC and MAC to transfer files from PC to MAC and back. It must be USB and it doesn't matter if it's USB 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0. however, before buying something new, i'd love to keep my current cable and hopefully someone does know an answer to fix the problem above.
I have a D-Link Dir-655 and I'm not too sure how exactly I'm suppose to set this up since there isn't much info on setting up for mac/linux. My network shows up as a wi-fi network.. but it's not joinable. It shows up both on my macbook pro and my iphone, but after I put in the password I'm not able to click to join the network.. anyone know whats goin on?
I'm thinking about buying the mac pro 2.26GHz model and it comes with the nvidia gt120 card. Anyways, I noticed that it has 1 mini displayport and 1 dual link dvi port. My question is, can I connect a regular dvi-i into the dual link dvi port?
I have a 8x2.93 with 2 x 30" apple displays & the ati 4870.I have the displayport to dual-link dvi adapter to use both monitors. The monitor connected to the dvi port on the card is fine. The monitor connected via the adapter occasionally 'flickers' or kinda turns on/off very quickly. It's very intermittent. Often will go hours without doing it, but regularly does it 3-5 times a day.
I've tried swapping monitors around, and the problem follows the adapter.I've also got a 2nd adapter here spare (that I sometimes use for my laptop) that I swapped in as a test and the same happens.Smells to me like a firmware bug.I rang apple and amusingly they told me to run the vga firmware update. I told them it was not vga and they told me I still needed to run it. When I ran it of course the updating program said "no vga displays connected". Real smart advice there. They are looking into it and said they might be 5 days.
Apple tells me the TC can connect to my D-Link router, and D-Link tells me that the router can be connected to, but no one seems to know how to do it. I have searched and searched to no avail.
Does anyone know how to connect the TC to the D-Link to "extend" my wireless setup?
