View 9 RepliesAfter installing the latest updates for Java to both 10.7.3 and 10.6.8 the MRTAgent or other files ( /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.mrt.uiagent.plist and /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mrt.plist did not seem to install. I have installed both through Software Update and also through the stand alone downloads. Various sites have said the above should have installed and there is no evidence on my machine.

is attached to word documents. a friend rid it from my husbands resume which he was trying to upload to monster. there doesn't seem to be a program to get rid of it on a mac. so everythng i open just gets infected on my 3 machines. other than taking it to a pc and running the program my friend had, is there a (program) that will allow me to get rid of it? i know it doesn't affect my machine but pcs will not take these docs. I don't work in word, just use it to open client documents and copy into quark.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI checked yesterday and didn't have any software updates, but today I had one for Java, so I updated it.Does this mean I'm protected? I've read the links but don't understand how to determine if I'm currently infected, or if the updated Java will protect my iMac in the future.Should I download something else from Apple's site?

I'm curious, has anyone heard of the recent trojan virus that's supposed to affect the java?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI ran an update today for Java and I'm now having trouble getting chat rooms to run. I run three or four chat rooms at a time and now I can only get one to run. When I log out I have to quit Safari and then log back in to the chat room. I've never had a problem like this before so I have no idea where to start. Although I did reinstall the latest update with no success and also repaired permissions.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi cannot get the latest update on my macbook pro, the software update is "Java OS X 2012-003".When i attempt, it says "The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs".I do run Java, so i would really like this update.I did recently install a parallel program and installed Windows 7 64-bit, im not really sure if this matters but since the installations it's the first time i haven't been successful updating my software.Software updates are available for your computer.Do you want to install them? You can continue to use your computer during the installation. You don't need to restart it when the installation is complete. Note: Use of this software is subject to the original Software License Agreement(s) that accompanied the software being updated.A list of Apple SLAs may be found here: url....
Basically the Software Update removes the most common variants of the Flashback malware. This update also configures the Java web plug-in to disable the automatic execution of Java applets.Users may re-enable automatic execution of Java applets using the Java Preferences application. If the Java web plug-in detects that no applets have been run for an extended period of time it will again disable Java applets. This update is recommended for all Mac users with Java Installed. url...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am noticing that the Java applet in Chrome often crashes since I updated Java a couple of weeks back. Also, Chrome downloads the frame of some Web pages only, without the central part of the page which presumably is Java-dependent.Â
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was doing google searches yesterday, and I clicked on a link, and a site opens a whole bunch of pop up windows, you know how it is..so I quit Safari altogheter. After that I kept doing google searches, and I noticed that when I clicked on link a specific site of an association that is legit, it redirected me to one of those shady pharmacy website. While on the internet i just got a notice saying that my computer is infected. Mac ran a scan and the finder popped up showing the number of trojans in my HD, Local Disk, etc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI opened finder recently and in the "Shared" column on the left, there was a network I didn't recognize. It has the name of a website on it that I've never been to. When I click "Get info," it doesn't tell me anything. When i try to drag it to the trash, it says it can't be deleted. It's clearly some kind of virus, and it really worries me. Obviously I don't want to open it because I'm worried that would make things worse.

I was not seeing the Java Update show up in my Software Update, so I installed the Java Security Update 2012-001 manually. What I did not know was that I did not have Java before, and now I do. How do I remove Java and get back to a clean Mac OS X Lion installation? I have a Macbook Pro, early 2011 version.Â

Sophos found a PC virus in the attachment to a spam email. I trashed the email, and thought that I had gotten rid of the virus. Sophos tells me, however, that the attachment/virus still exists in the Time Machine back-up of my mail.
How do I remove a specific file (such as an email and attachment) in Time Machine?

An update for iPhoto '11 was available recently, and I installed it on my computer without thinking twice about it. I use the application for my business and it has worked very well up until I installed the update. Now, however, several of the features that I need are much less responsive due to the update. Is there any way that I can remove the update and restore the application to the way it was before the update?

I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.
So I downloaded an app from this site but I can't seem to find it, is it possible that I've contracted a phishing virus, if so what are the steps i should take to remove it? [URL]

I just removed over 1000 cookies. They were bogging the system down to the point of having some pages freeze. I then closed Safari. I launched Safari again a few minutes later and all the cookies were back, even though the only site I went to was the Apple open page.
