OS X :: Latest Java Update - Chat Rooms Not Running
Oct 27, 2010
I ran an update today for Java and I'm now having trouble getting chat rooms to run. I run three or four chat rooms at a time and now I can only get one to run. When I log out I have to quit Safari and then log back in to the chat room. I've never had a problem like this before so I have no idea where to start. Although I did reinstall the latest update with no success and also repaired permissions.
I have problems since applying the latest security Update 2009-001 and Java 10.5 Update 3, I have 10.5.6 on the new unibody 2.4ghz and have completely lost the ability to connect to my wireless access point which is an apple airport extreme base station.
I can sometimes se the base station but cannot connect to it and sometimes cannot see it at all. I have three other apple computers at home all less then a year old running the same build of 10.5.6 but have not updated them and they all are fine.
This one was perfect untill I applied the update.
The machine I am having problems with is partitioned with windows 7 beta on it which has no problems connecting to the base station, which indicates that its not a hardware problem but more then likely the update which is causing the problem.
Is there a way to uninstall the last update or delete it? Any one with a similar problem or know how I can fix it, I have googled but cannot seem to find anyone with similar problems.
So I just bought my Macbook Pro with Lion a month ago. When I downloaded Yahoo Messenger 8 for mac, the chat rooms wont load when I try to access the chat room directory!
I participate in several on-line chat rooms that are multi-user camera chat. One example is camfrog. Another one is Paltalk. How can I set the Macbook air to play directly from the computer to the internet chat room, WITHOUT using the microphone and speakers? Effectively, this would be streaming music to the chatroom. On a PC, one has the option of setting up the sound card to play through a line out (as well as the speakers) and the line out replaces the Microphpne in the settings. This will play any sound your sound card is playing, including movie sounds, music, or a podcast - any time the mic button is selected in a chat room.
Info: MacBook Air (13-inch Late 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), This applies to ALL Mac computers
Can anyone help me regarding using Yahoo chatrooms? When I try to join a chatroom using yahoo messanger is askes what name I want to use but, it doesn't give me a list of rooms so I can join.
i cannot get the latest update on my macbook pro, the software update is "Java OS X 2012-003".When i attempt, it says "The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs".I do run Java, so i would really like this update.I did recently install a parallel program and installed Windows 7 64-bit, im not really sure if this matters but since the installations it's the first time i haven't been successful updating my software.Software updates are available for your computer.Do you want to install them? You can continue to use your computer during the installation. You don't need to restart it when the installation is complete. Note: Use of this software is subject to the original Software License Agreement(s) that accompanied the software being updated.A list of Apple SLAs may be found here: url....
Basically the Software Update removes the most common variants of the Flashback malware. This update also configures the Java web plug-in to disable the automatic execution of Java applets.Users may re-enable automatic execution of Java applets using the Java Preferences application. If the Java web plug-in detects that no applets have been run for an extended period of time it will again disable Java applets. This update is recommended for all Mac users with Java Installed. url...
I am noticing that the Java applet in Chrome often crashes since I updated Java a couple of weeks back. Also, Chrome downloads the frame of some Web pages only, without the central part of the page which presumably is Java-dependent.
Just did the latest Mac software update a few days ago and noticed that my MBA runs hotter (fans are constantly screaming) and the battery life now is about 1:15 hours on a full charge versus 3:30 hours before. Anyone else experiencing the same issue?
I just downloaded the latest update to Parallels. I shut down Parallels before running the update, and I even did a reboot of the computer. And yet every time I run the update program it keeps telling me to "shut down these running and suspended virtual machines" and refers to "My Boot Camp"Like I said, I rebooted the computer first. There are no virtual machines running. Zero, zilch, nada. So why in the ******* is Parallels telling me that there is? "My Boot Camp" isn't even a VM that I use
What has been released to install as a security update? I seem to be clicking on one web link which takes me to another and nothing to actually install. Typical Apple. Really wish I hadn't bought this MacCrap Air - I do miss my PC.
I am running OS 10.5.8 on an iMac. There is no security update issued for this operating system - it only covers 10.6. Is my comuter vulnerable? Do I need to do anything?
After installing the latest updates for Java to both 10.7.3 and 10.6.8 the MRTAgent or other files ( /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.mrt.uiagent.plist and /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mrt.plist did not seem to install. I have installed both through Software Update and also through the stand alone downloads. Various sites have said the above should have installed and there is no evidence on my machine.
I was doing google searches yesterday, and I clicked on a link, and a site opens a whole bunch of pop up windows, you know how it is..so I quit Safari altogheter. After that I kept doing google searches, and I noticed that when I clicked on link a specific site of an association that is legit, it redirected me to one of those shady pharmacy website. So that was weird.I reset safari, came here, then I got the anti flashback tool, my mac seemed cleared. I got clamxav. I checked www.dns-ok.us. It all seems fine.I don't install things on this machine, I had a new hardrive installed not long ago.Do I have the latest Java, do I need to update? this is the Java version i have -build 1.6.0_31-b04-415-10M3635
Yesterday Apple released Safari 5.0.1 and Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0, but Software Update on my Mac makes me able to download only the first one (Safari 5.0.1) - which I did. Why can't it find the Multi-Touch Trackpad Update?
- My MacBook is fine (it's 13-inch, Mid 2009).
- My OS is fine (Mac OS X v10.6.4).
Sure, I can download it manually, BUT it makes me really annoyed if something on my Mac works not as good as it should.
Trying to make java web start running on my 10.5.6 OS X PPC with a specific web app ( sparkom.com) .jnlp file but java seems to be unable to run, ( no caches to clean (user or system) they are empty, so jawaws didnot run at all. java -version : java version "1.5.0_16"Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b06-284)Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_16-133, mixed mode, sharing)in the other hand, on a new disk, with a new clean install of OS X 10.5.6 ( with updates) NO problem at all. So, i need to reinstall and configure java to make it work on my current system. maybe terminal commands ?
When launching a java app from within eclipse (run/debug) that doesn't have a gui the firewall dialog (allow/deny) pops up and then just disappear leaving the app blocked for incoming connections. This was introduced in snow leopard and worked fine in leopard. Has anyone found a solution for this other than the radical of turning off the firewall all together?
The other day I had an issue with Mac OS, not sure what, but long story short I reinstalled/downgraded to Leopard. I have since installed all the Software Updates and such, but have not upgraded to Snow Leopard. (I'd had alot of issues with it, figured I'd stay downgraded for awhile)
In any case, I was able to download and run Java files no problem on Snow Leopard, but no longer can. It's not a ONE Java file problem.
I have tried software update, I've tried downloading the update and installing it manually... no matter what I do, my machine is always running 1.5 when I need 1.6.
Code: java -version java version "1.5.0_20" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_20-b02-315) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_20-141, mixed mode, sharing) How can I get my machine to find the 1.6 version and use it permanently?
I have successfully managed to integrate facebook chat in iChat. However, I was wondering whether it is possible to video chat with through facebook chat provided both people are using iChat. Does anyone know if this works?
I have a MBP and I use Ichat alot to IM my friends. My question is.....when I am chatting with someone and the chat is terminated is that chat saved somewhere on the computer or is it just gone?
