Jun 27, 2012I have a mid 07 iMac that I just upgraded the memory in and now it wont reboot. I had two 1 gig and switched to two 2 gigs. I can replace one of the 2 gigs with one of the original 1 gigs and it will start and shows in "about this mac" that I have 3 gigs??? Then take the 1 gig back out replace with the other new 2 gig and wont reboot again.

Mar 11, 2012I have 20" iMac core duo 216GMZ w/ 1GB and want to upgrade memory, how much can I install? Have 2 512MB DIMM. Does the new RAM have to be same memory capacity for both DIMM? I wanted to upgrade from 10.6.8 to Lion and don't have enough memory which prompted the inquiriy. The Lion installer said I need to have min 4GB. How much memory in excess of 4GB is advisable for Lion to be a smooth running OS.

I have looked on [URL] and the prices range from $198.99 to $799.99 for 8gb (4 x 2gb) kits. The Omni Technologies Optival is mighty tempting at $198.99 and I see that OWC has 8gb for $269. What do you recommend? Is Optival any good? The reason I an adding 8gb is for multi-tasking video/audio etc.

I have a two-monitor configuration with a USB Wacom Stylus pad, separate keyboard and 800 Firewire.
With my disability I have limited funds to upgrade, but have been a loyal Mac user since 1991 when I was permanently laid off as Art Director for a large commercial print shop, because of my medical condition. I then started my own freelancing business as a graphic design concept specialist from that time until the present. I just finished designing a new logo for a new medical research lab at UCSD and Annual Report for Berger Hospital Foundation.I recently had my 3rd craniotomy surgery 02/06/2012 and am recovering well. Jan 25, 2010I was wondering what is the max memory that I can put on my iBook G4. My G4 (12 inch) has 128 MB DDR SDRAM soldered in place and has a 800 MHz PowerPC G4 Processor. I was wondering what is the most memory I could install and what is recommended? Also I am only running Mac OS X Version 10.4.11. Is it possible for me to update to 10.5 or higher? Sometimes when running videos on google video or youtube it gets choppy and lags what fixes this problem. A message pops up about quicktime not up to date but I try and do a software update and it says that my software is up to date could this be because of the older software?

Jul 9, 2010Black Macbook 2.4 with 2GB. Trying to upgrade to 4GB but won't start after install. Front light comes on but that is it. Pulled one of the new 2gb and replaced it with one of the old 1GB and it loads fine. Swapped new 2gb with new 2gb and it still works but not when installed together.

May 22, 2012I inherited a Mac Pro 1,1 -- first generation. It only has 2gb ram (4 512 MB modules) so I'd like to upgrade it to 10 GB with an 8 gb kit. Per MacTracker the 1st gen MacPro does accept 4GB DDR2 667 FBDIMM modules. I got my hands on an 8 GB kit (2x4GB), but they aren't being read by the MacPro, at all. I made sure I ran all available firmware updates and everything, no dice. System Profiler doesn't see them.
I looked at two of the aftermarket modules in it -- they are both Kingston 512 MB DDR2 667 FBDIMM, but they are 1Rx8. The other two are the stock apple memory that is less-than-useless when trying to look at any chip architecture information. The ones I have are 4GB DDR2 667 FBDIMM 4Rx8 modules. I don't mind having to return them for another set of modules. If so, what type should I get?
