I have a MacBook Pro : 13-inch, Mid 2012, Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 , Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) , Storage 750 GB SATA
I was wondering if it's possible for me to upgrade my Memory to 16 GB and my Storage to about at least 512 GB SSD
Can the user upgrade memory and storage themselves? I'd like to add an OWC SSD & 16gb memory.I still prefer the DVD capability to burn discs

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently editing lots of pdfs and other files for notes. There is one particular big file, ca. 300 MB (part of a book). When I edit this file in Preview (underlining etc.) and save my changes, I loose almost the whole size of the file in disk space. Â
Saving 10 times, that equals ca. 3 GB. Since I am a diligent "back-upper", I loose ca. 3 GB every 90 minutes. Over the last 3 days, this has consumed more or less 40 GB of my storage space. I have restarted several times and had to delete a lot of files; the sleepimage file is ca. 1 GB big only, so that is not the problem;so I have used "Disk Utility" to localize the massive space use.Â
Disk utility registers the storage loss in total numbers (35 GB free, next time only 32 GB free), but not within the folders (the single sizes of the folders -Application; Library; User etc-), their sizes stay the same!what happened to my disk space. I need to restore those 40 GB they are being used by something completely useless somewhere.Â

My computer has 500 GB of capacity, but I have seen that every time I open a file or boot something the memory used rises a little. Is this normal? It is the first time that I have seen.Â

If I buy the $2199 MBP that has 256gb of flash storage, is it possible to upgrade the amount of storage, lets say to 512gb later when I run out of space? Or am I stuck with only 256gb forever?

How come there is no option to upgrade flash storage for 2.3GHz new MBP whereas you can upgrade the storage for 2.6GHZ new MBP? Does it mean you can't upgrade the storage for 2.3GHZ MBP once you buy later?

My iMac displays a message that says the memory run out of space and this do not allow me to work with some of my apps. The problem is that i do not have installed data that can fill 500 GB... in the apple menu - about this mac - the storage status shown in yellow as other takes 499 GB of the space but I don't have this kind of data or it is something that I cannot see.

I have just taken delivery of a new white Macbook and I upgraded HD to WD Scorpio Blue 500 GB HD and memory to Corsair VSA4GSKIT667C4 Mac Memory 4GB 2 X 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz200 -Pin SODIMM for apple laptops.
It would not work even after correctly reinstalling the new memory a number of times
I decided to put back the original memory but by mistake I installed one old dimm and one new dimm and the computer then installed Mac OS X on the new HD and works OK.
Info shows 3GB of Memory = 1 x 2 GB and 1 x 1 GB.
Why will it not accept 4 GB?
I have an A1226 15" MacBook pro with 2GB of RAM and 120GB hard drive. I'm busting at the seams! It's running very slow, with 110GB of hard drive used up. I need more hard drive for photos, etc. and more memory for speed. I'd rather not spend the money for an iMac, so I'm considering upgrading this MacBook Pro with 500GB hard drive and 2GB more RAM (total 4GB). Can anyone tell me the pros and cons? Am I fooling myself to think this is going to come close in performance to a new iMac with 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drive?
I just installed 8 GB Crucial memory for my 13" MacBook Pro (Late-2011; 2.8 Ghz). I immediately noticed scrolling on safari was jumpy or skipping. It is like this in other applications as well. Even zooming in/out of pdf's and using iphoto. I only purchased this laptop in Feb, and this bothers me. I tested using the Geekbench app. Every benchmark was about equal or much higher except for Processor Integer Performance, more specifically "Image Decompress multi-threaded scalar." It went from 138.3 down to 134.3 Mpixels/sec. Do I have lemon memory? I would almost rather go back to the 4 GB if this laggy performance is a continual issue. One of the things I love about Mac's is now becoming irritating.

I am wondering how much memory I can upgrade with my MacBook Pro Late 2011. I went on Apple.com and they only offer up to 8GB of Ram for my model when I looked around and saw that on OWC ( MacSales.com) which is a very excellent reliable source for all your Apple Products. But, I was able to find a 16GB of Ram for my MacBook Pro Late 2011 and it said it can be used for my MacBook Pro.Basically Apple says its only up to 8GB of Ram while I see other people have 16GB of Ram for the same year as mine but the only difference is the the size of the computer. Anybody could give me a answer with this question as I dont want to buy the 16GB of Ram and it not working for my computer. url...

I just bought 2 - 4 gb memory to ugrade my 2 - 2 gb memory on my macbook pro 13" early 2011. Installed them and rebooted. The About Mac still shows 4 mb memory and looking farther it shows it has 2 - 2 mb memory. Also, now when I close the lid on the computer and it shuts down completely and not just go to sleep. i do not know if the two are related.
