Apr 18, 2012I have tried moving them to the trash, as well as using the move to trash button. They seam to go to the trash can but when I delete the trash they are still in the file. I am trying to clear out some old files so that I can have room on my start up disk. My Disk is full and it is making it hard for me to open more then one file. I am getting an external hard drive soon but don't want these files on it.

May 24, 2012I am working on clearing off some hard drive space, and my first step was to remove some unneeded items from an external HD to make some space there. When I drag the folder I'm trying to delete to the trash, I first get a message that the items will be immediately deleted (I think because my internal HD is quite full?) and that's fine because I do want to delete these, so I say OK. It starts the process of deleting, and counting how many files it's deleting, then gives me a message that the operation cannot be completed because item "xx" is locked. The only solutions I have found on here involve unlocking "xx" but my problem is, when I search the computer and/or the external for item "xx" nothing is found. I'm really not sure if the issue with item "xx" is an issue with the drive or with the computer, or what to do about it?? If it's the drive, I suppose I could back up what I do want to save from the drive then re-format it?

Apr 30, 2012I purchased a GoFlex Desk for Mac with the FW800 adapter. No issues with stability or performance.The only thing that is weird is related to deletion of files:
1) When I set a program to auto-clean files (for example, deleting source rar files after unpacking) it doesn't work
2) Whenever I try to delete a file, I get a warning that "This cannot be undone", and it's doing a permanent delete rather than moving it to trash.I've verified that I'm not using any Seagate drivers, and the drive shows up as the "Orange" generic external drive.

Mar 25, 2012I have been having problems with my MacBook (Aluminum late 2008, I think, OS 10.5). It runs slowly; files on the desktop and in my "Macintosh HD" often won't open with double-click but have to be opened with File-->Open; there are Word Work Files that won't go away; the trackpad is often stiff and not very responsive; clicking on the mouse is very stiff, despite very easy settings. In short, a lot of things are sluggish. Sometimes, also, I get the spinning beach ball, but not all the time.
I have run disk permissons repair from Disk Utility many times (both from the desktop and from the MacBook install disk); I have replaced the directory with Disk Warrior at least twice; I have verified that the disk is OK; I have zapped the PRAM; and done other things of that kind.
I took the MacBook to an Apple Store yesterday. It had been unplugged and much to my surprise, most everything seemed to be working all right. When I opened it today, however, I found everything as it was before I took it to Apple. Including the Word Work files, which I thought were gone.
If I recall correctly, this started when I was working on a long editing project in Word, but I don't know whether that has anything to do with what has happened. I've done similarly long projects before, and this never happened.
I could try trashing the Word Work files (there seem also to be quite a lot of folders with "recovered" files), but I don't want to do that unless I can be assured that nothing bad will come from doing that.
I know this seems quite comprehensive, and may involve several issues, but I'm really unhappy about this and would love to think there is something more I can do, apart from returning to the Apple Store. Besides everything else, how can I khow that I won't find, again, that the MacBook will work fine there but goes back to its troubled state when I return?

May 5, 2012Here is the back ground information of this situation. I have a IMAC 21 inch 500GB Hard drive 4 GB RAM, which is up to date with OS X Ver 10.7.3. So my wife loves to stream her favorite USA TV shows via the Internet, considering we are stationed overseas. She pulled me away from the NBA playoffs because she kept getting this error of start up disk full delete files (or something to that effect.) So last week, I deleted about 40GB of old shows that we downloaded and various other files and pictures. Not even four days later the Hard drive is full again, and I think it is from my wife's streaming habit. I went to "About This IMAC", to find out where the memory was being used from and its 377 GB used in a "OTHER", and the rest being utilized from APPS, MUSIC, PICTURES, etc. So next I cleared the history and deleted the cache files and reset safari on both our log in profiles, then logged out and restarted the computer, which did not minimize the Hard drive memory being occupied. Where are those streaming files getting saved specifically, for maybe a manual delete?

Dec 11, 2014I have a 13in MacBook Pro Mid 2012 model with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory. I've got it new in the summer of 2012, and haven't had any real problems until now. I have a 1TB Hitachi external hard drive with over 600GB left of storage. I'm running Yosemite.
Lately, as in the past few weeks but more noticeably the past few days, I can't open files if I just double click on them from my desktop or from searching them outside of the application. For instance, if I click on a word document on my desktop, it will cause the work icon to bounce for a while, pretending to open, but it never does. If the application is already running, the file just won't open. If I search from the "open" selection within the application, it works fine. This is true for all of my Microsoft Office apps, Photoshop, Preview, iTunes, and everything in between, all of which I had never had a problem with before.
Next, anytime I try to backup my system using Time Machine, it simply shows the "Preparing Backup" status and never starts. I've had the hard drive and used it as a Time Machine since I got the computer, and have had zero problems at all.
I've tried CleanMyMac2, Memory Clean, and I've always kept my Mac very clean and organized, as in no duplicate files, moving my biggest files onto my hard drive, and deleting any of my unnecessary files. I know I don't have a ton of RAM left, but I'm honestly not completely sure what to do about that, as this model apparently doesn't have RAM updates available.

What is the best way to have all the files in one central location, and backed up. I would like the files also though to be wirelessly accessible. Is that feasible? Is there a way to have files on a remote computer, but show up in your aperture library/itunes library/ plex database etc?

It also cannot select anything or drag anything. I have used several mice, no change. It all works okay when I safe-boot (restart holding down the shift key) but after regular start-up, it doesn't work anymore. Is this a virus?

Apr 29, 2012I have an iMac 21,5 purchased in October 2011. My clicks have gone mad for 2 or 3 days now. It came out of the blue. Whenever I click, it acts like a double click. I've been looking for information on internet but I couldn't find anything conclusive.I have tried a trick in the System Preferences > Mouse > Double click speed, but it hasn't changed anything (I can go extreme slow or quick, same thing happens).
I have a Magic Mouse, a random and ultra super plain Logitech mouse (wired) and a common wireless Logitech mouse; the problem is the same for all mice. I also tried my roomate's mouse, and it does the same thing.
when I delete email I delete 2 of them. Opening a new tab? Here you go 4 of them. Clicking on a document? Oh no you can't rename it and it opens. Have an important text to type? it's impossible de move the cursor without selecting an entire word or phrase or row. It took me 3 hours to clic on "Categories - Using your iMac Intel" because the box was instantly checked-unchecked.

MacBook Pro :: Moshi Cleargaurd On Unibody MBPs Are The Effective?

I would really apreciate it if someone could show me some pictures of actual usage, not just the photo on the Moshi website.
This is a fairly important question as I have read around these forums that the keys on the new MBPs get worn out really quickly, in the sense that the shine that appears on the black keys are really evident.

I have bad memories from upgrading from one version of windows to another, and was simply wondering whether there would be any "excess litter"?
