I've always had problems connecting to the Internet but last night my iMac refused to connect to the Internet. Everyone else in my house can connect to the Router but for some reason I can't - I try going through the network diagnostics for Airport and the first 2 steps turn green, but the rest remain red. It keeps changing from 'No IP Address' to something about a self-adressed IP address. I went into my network utilities and it appears that I don't have an IP address (according to that)? Right now it's just impossible to connect to the Internet.

My iMac could see and connect to my previous Netgear N300 router, which I replaced with the same model router after it got fried by a lightning strike. All my devices (ipods/tablet) see and connect to the replacement router, except my iMac. so the problem is with this desk top.It sees but refuses to connect to the new router. I suspect the imac is not allowing the previous profile to be overridden.

Our iMac running OS X 10.5.8 has several problems, some of which may be related.
1. The hard disk is close to full. I am not sure this is the root problem. I would like to either find junk files that I can delete (sort of like disk cleanup in Windows) or copy some old, but possibly still useful, files to a CD or an external hard drive, but I have not been able to do so.
2. I cannot connect via WiFi to my home LAN. If I try to connect, I get an "invalid password" error message, even though I am using the same password that other devices are using to connect successfully.
3. I cannot open iTunes because an unknown error occurs (13014).
The problems started when we tried syncing an iPad and the process would not stop. Then there was a temporary power outage.
We have also recently tried adding a Time Capsule to our home network. I am not sure that it is configured properly. I want to continue to use our older router for WiFi but use the Time Capsule for backing up Macs.

I have been trying everything I can think of to get 2 PC's on our home network to print on my Canon MP610 which is connected via USB to my MacBook Pro and the two PC's recognise the printer and add it as a device but when I try to print, the message "access denied, unable to connect" is displayed. If it's of any relevance, I cannot get the PC's to access the Public folder on the MBP over the network either.

Short story: I'm using a PPC Mac Mini running 10.5.8 as a headless print server, the other Macs in the house printing through it to a couple of printers I have... only the print jobs never seem to arrive. The client Macs think they're delivering the goods, but my ersatz print server is clueless as to the existence of these print jobs.

I just built a PC that actually works. However, I was really cheap and didn't wanna buy a wireless access card, thinking I could connect to an extra router and use this router to connect to my other router that's network enabled. It worked a month ago. But now, since the update, I can't get my MacBook and printer to hook up and play nice. They're both on the same network, and both say they're connected okay, but the Mac can't find the printer wirelessly. Works fine via USB. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the Mac, rebooted the printer, and even completely uninstalled and then reinstalled the HP printer software, along with that update from the Apple support site. Its like there's a wall blocking their communication. Weird.

I have a 2tb MyBook connected to my 27" iMac (also has a 2TB internal HDD). The external backs up the iMac but I am still nervous and feel like I want one more layer of redundancy. Is it possible to connect an external drive to my AEBS and have that drive back up the drive attached to the iMac? By the way, the iMac is connected via ethernet to the AEBS.

Using Bonjour to connect a XP and a Vista box I get a error saying "ERROR You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer". I am logged in as the administrator when I do it on the XP or Vista computer and have completed this function on other printer installation before so I know the permissions are there. The software for the printer is loaded on both windows computers.

Just downloaded Lion, now the Airport wireless router keeps dropping the cable modem settings so I can't access the network, internet or WiFi. I have to repeatedly go back into System Preferences, Network, Assist Me, Network Diagnostics, choose the network port config, select WiFi, select my network and it restores all network settings and says "Internet connection appears to working correctly." This problem apparently happens whenever the computer goes to standby/sleep.

I have an eMac 1Ghz with 10.3.9 on it and I just bought a new Lexmark Wi-Fi Printer. I have no Extreme card, just a Netgear Wired/Wireless router that's obviously connected to my eMac via CAT5 cable. Now my Ipod Touch and my cell phone work just fine with my router; i.e they connect and i can surf the net and stuff, but my laptop will not get on the net once i disconnect the ethernet cable from it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently sold my old MacBook to my brother. He has 2 PCs and 2 iPhones, both of which connect perfectly to the internet through his modem/router (a BT Business Hub). The Mac, on the other hand, just won't connect to the internet. Airport connects to the router, but cannot load any web pages. Connecting by ethernet does not appear to help. This Mac will happily connect to any other router except this one.
