May 19, 2012I cannot get youtube to play on my iMac with OS 10.7.4 on safari or chrome additionally it will not play on any of my notebooks(MBP 15 2008w/ SL and a MBP 13 with Lion 10.7.4)removing and reinstalling chrome, flash. I've tried the switch from 32 to 64 to 32 bit and back.

Mar 27, 2012I just bought this iMac in January and I've already had issues with Lion. First it was facetime.... now, I inserted a dvd-r that I already burned which has video files on them. The good thing, at least Lion recognizes that a cd/dvd is in the drive, the bad thing is that the dvd is already burned yet it keeps saying that I inserted a blank disc... which I did not.

Safari Won't Play Video?
Feb 22, 2012Safari on my wife's iMac does not display video. Our home page has a video imbeded that plays just fine on my Mac Pro and we are both using the latest OS, 10.7.3, and the latest version of Safari, 5.1.3. She also has Firefox installed and it plays the video just fine. When I check her installed plug-ins, she has the QuickTime Plug-in 7.7.1, just as I do. Why does video show up in my setup, but not on my wife's iMac when we are using the same software. Do I need to re-install Safari?

Apr 16, 2012I have been having problems playing .avi files with my computer. At first it was running 10.6 and after being upgraded to 10.7 the problem is still there.Â
I have been trying to install different codecs -- Perian(1.2.2 & 1.2.3 and uninstalled DviX first), flip4Mac, etc, but everytime i try to play an avi file with quicktime player X, it says that quicktime player can not open the file 'A required codec is not available'.Â
I have also tried to open the file with Quick Player 7 and VLC, the strange thing is that the video 'plays' (the sliding bar is moving), but i see no video in the application window -- it was just all black.Â

Jun 4, 2012I think this may be a Lion upgrade issue, but for the last few months one of my most-visited websites (a newspaper, the UK's www.telegraph.co.uk) has been unable to play any video content, typically short news clips, on either Firefox or Safari. Other newspapers work fine. I have tried asking the Telegraph but got no response from them - 'it's a local issue', I was told. Clearly. I've tried updating Flash Player, Quicktime, DivX and Silverlight, not having much of a clue what it is.Â

May 29, 2012I have had a problem for a long time of videos on certain websites not playing on my MacBook Pro. I have the latest Lion OS update as well as the latest Flash update. I never have a problem with Youtube and most video plays fine but some websites, like for instance, news sites will not respond. I get a black screen with no controls or anythiing. Now I am having this problem with a site called MailChimp. I use FIrefox but it will not play in either Safari or Chrome.

Whenever we attach video files or keynote media, it will play back on the machine we posted it from but once anyone else pulls up the content on their machine it will show a media playback bar but will not play back. We've tried .mov, .m4v, .mp4 etc. and it will never play back.
