I have a Microsoft Intelli Mouse( Link ) and it has 4 buttons. How do I change what the side buttons do? Under System Pred > Keyboard and mouse, the only options are to which side is Primary, and Zoom scrolling. All I want to do is set it so the left and right side buttons go forward and back in explorer, instead of scrolling

View 15 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while the mouse pad will stop working. A wireless mouse will work in its place. The keyboard will also act extremely slow during this time. It seems like the buffer is full and it moves on to the next letter i type without using the previously typed letter.

I have changed both sets of batteries. Turned them off and back on multiple times. Only reason I am able to ask this question is because I'm using my phone. I need my computer back. No I don't have a wired mouse or keyboard laying around. The mouse isn't registering or moving on the screen. The keyboard was working until I tried turning it off and back on. Now nothing is working.

My new Magic Mouse appears as a wireless Mighty Mouse on my iMac 10.6.2. When I open the mouse Preferences Panel, I get the options for the Mighty Mouse, not the Magic Mouse. It worked fine on my hackintosh with 10.5.8 but not with 10.6.2, so it seems the culprit might be in 10.6.2? It seems that USB Overdrive is the culprit for some, but I don't have it.

I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.
*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?
got my MBP 17" earlier this week. Enjoying it immensely.
I'm using an old mighty mouse on at the moment, however, I'm fed up of it being rubbish. The scroll wheel died moments after this things was out of the box. What I'm wondering, will a microsoft mouse work just as well? In terms of sensitivity etc? Does anyone use this set up?
I'm using a microsoft intellimouse (USB to keyboard) on an iMac (late 2006), OSX 10.5.8
I recently connected my mighty mouse to the keyboard and changed some settings on the middle mouse button. Later I reconnected my microsoft mouse, and tried to change the settings back. Now, everything works as per usual, but my middle mouse click-drag scroll doesn't work
I can scroll by using the wheel up and down just fine, but if I try to click-drag, nothing happens. Is there any way I can fix this?
im currently going into high school, and one of the things that you need is a wireless mouse with a usb dongle. Now, i saw something about the microsoft arc mouse somewhere, and decided i wanted to get that.they have it for 32$ on amazon which is a pretty good deal considering its 50 at best buy and 40 at walmart.com
but, when i was looking on best buy's website for the arc mouse, i saw that they had the mx 1100 for 30$, and it looked like one of those fancy looking gaming mouses or whatever
now, i have to choose, so im gonna ask you which one is better.i don't care about batteries.i get mine from costco, and they r super cheap. recharable would just add more hassle because i would most likely be taking from and to school every day so that little space the arc mouse has to store the dongle is defenitly a plus.
or, are there any other good-looking, good preformance mouses for less than 30$?i really don't need the extra programmable buttons, the mouse is just basically so we don't have to use the trackpads on the laptops like maybe for some basic programming or something.
I'm thinking about buying this controller. Linky. And I'm curious to know if it will work in OS X.

Is it just me or is the Microsoft website down? And has been down for a couple of days? I was trying to update an install of office and it wouldn't connect. I tried to go the the M$ website and it doesn't connect. I cant imagine a huge company like M$ would allow there site to be down for so long.

I pair my Logitech MX900 BT mouse using the BT Control Panel applet and it finds the mouse, pops-up "installing drivers" and everything works well. In the "services" tab for the BT device, it shows a general HID mouse/keyboard.
I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to my problem. I just found my old microsoft wireless notebook optical mouse 4000, it comes with a usb plug in that says its a blue tooth adaptor. I hate having anything like that plugged in, especially as my MBP has built in bluetooth. Has anyone managed to connect these microsoft mice via the built in bluetooth? Or am I going to have to stump up the money for the magic mouse?

I'm considering one of these devices to use with my Mac. The scroll ball on the Mighty Mouse (aka Apple Mouse) that came with it is slowly dying, especially when I scroll down (slowly).
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm planning on buying a macbook soon (upon the update, whenever and however it may come), and was thinking that i might want a mouse to use with it, in case the trackpad doesn't suit my wants or needs. i'm looking for a 5-button, wireless one, with a scroll wheel, and i really don't want to pay more than $30 or so for it.
what kind of mouse do you use if you dislike the trackpad on your mb/mbp?
Hopefully getting my new MBP in a few days now and cant wait.
Just wondering what sort of accessories you guys would recommend, been looking at wireless mouses for gaming etc and choice between an Razor or the Apple Magic Mouse, what mouse are you guys using?
Also any other accessories you would recommend?
I typically use a very basic Microsoft wireless mouse (this one), but recently I plugged in a wired Apple mouse (this one, I believe).
I then decided to go back to my Microsoft mouse and now all the buttons are messed up. Left and Right work fine but now the Wheel button opens my Dashboard and the left Side button sends me into All Windows mode.
I used to have both of them programmed to 1) open links I clicked on in new tabs and 2) select and open links in new tabs in Firefox with Snap Links Plus.
I'm assuming the Apple mouse switched some things around but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get back to my original settings. I check the preferences in Firefox, Snap Links Plus and on my system but I can't find anywhere to reprogram my mouse.
I don't remember how I originally did it but I think it just sort of programmed that way automatically.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt long last, I have my mother dipping into the modern world, the proud owner of a new MacBook. What didn't cross my mind until I began teaching her how to use a computer is that with arthritis, the drag-and-drop movement is tough...truthfully, it's next to impossible on a trackpad unless she uses one hand to click/hold and the other to drag.
I'd love to give her a wireless mouse for Christmas, alleviating the pain and awkwardness of drag-and-drop. Need to keep it simple since I doubt she ever becomes a hard core user.
Is the new magic mouse a good fit, or too sensitive/complex for a new user with limited flexibility? Or is it actually the perfect option? Is there a better option out there? Really need your collective wisdom here.....
I just received a used magic mouse that I bought, and it paired alright in terms of whether the machine (macbook late '07, running 10.5.8) recognizes it and I click just fine (both primary-button and secondary-button), but I can't seem to get it to scroll, in any direction. Am I missing something or was this just somebody offloading their faulty mouse on me?
