IMac PPC :: Will The Wireless Keyboard And Magic Mouse Work With G5
May 17, 2012My Dad just sent me his old iMac G5 17". and I was wondering if the Wireless Keyboard and Magic Mouse will work with it!? I don't really have a place to put the computer.. so I was hoping to get the wireless mouse and keyboard so I don't have to be connected to the computer.

Dec 19, 2010i woke up this morning and neither my mouse or keyboard will connect to my imac im now using a wireles mouse app on my ipod i tried restarting the computer but since doing that it says bluetooth not available.
when i click the bluetooth symbol in the top theres not even a bluetooth option in my system preferences folder.

Dec 14, 2009My new Magic Mouse appears as a wireless Mighty Mouse on my iMac 10.6.2. When I open the mouse Preferences Panel, I get the options for the Mighty Mouse, not the Magic Mouse. It worked fine on my hackintosh with 10.5.8 but not with 10.6.2, so it seems the culprit might be in 10.6.2? It seems that USB Overdrive is the culprit for some, but I don't have it.

Oct 7, 2009I wanted a new wireless keyboard and mouse for my MBP, and was wondering if any ol' wireless thing will work with it - you know the gig, receiver which plus into USB, with the kb and mouse connecting to it. Cause i cant be bothered to pay like 50 quid for a wireless apple keyboard, i was wondering if any of these cheap ones you see (liek this, for example now i know the function buttons may not work, but i dont care. Can anyone tell me if something liek this would work, or would it have to be mac made? Like say 'mac compatible' or whatever... but i thought they might not put mac compatible on a keyboard like that cause not all the functions on it will work.

Oct 28, 2009I went ahead and disassembled my wireless mighty mouse, unscrewed the scroll ball from the lid of the mouse and found a ton of lint and cr@p that has been living in here for quite some time. cleaned it all up, put it together, now all of the little rollers spin freely, great.
I go to put everything together, including the 2 ribbon cables, mouse snaps together, fire it up, mouse works fine, i can click, side buttons work, but the scroll does not work at all now. left to right use to be fine, it was just up and down. now nothing works.
any idea what could have gone wrong? did i forget something?

Jan 5, 2011I've been lurking around this forum for a few weeks, gathering information to decide what Mac I wanted to order. I appreciate all the information that is available here! I took the plunge this afternoon and thought I should register as I'm sure I'll have questions in the coming weeks. I played around with an iMac at an Apple Store a few months back and kicked around buying one. I really enjoy my iPhone and my iPad, but I kept thinking about the iBook G4 that has been gathering dust because I never really took the time to learn the Mac OS. Then my Windows laptop quit and I had to send it off for repair. I dug out the iBook and that put me over the edge. For whatever reason, I had no problems figuring out the OS this time around. I've been trying to figure out how to justify an iMac ever since. Today I ordered a refurbished 21.5" iMac from Apple's refurbished site. I ended up ordering over the phone -- I called Apple to ask a couple of questions, and when I mentioned that Amazon offered Apple Care cheaper, the sales rep gave me a discount on the Apple Care. Plus, I got a free (after rebate) AirPrint-capable printer. So, I think I ended up with a pretty good deal. After all that, I'll get to my question -- do you use the wireless keyboard & magic mouse? They seemed fine when I was using them at the Apple Store, but that was just for a short time. I'm wondering how I will like them when I'm editing photos or typing a long document (I deal with all the numbers I can handle at work, so I don't do much at home that would require the number keypad).

Mar 10, 2009I'm about to order my first iMac and I want both the wireless keyboard and mouse, the problem is how do I pair them with the iMac? Nothing will be wired in the first time its turned on so how will i be able to do anything - such as tell the iMac to look for the wireless kit? I don't have an old USB keyboard or mouse, so unless the iMac is clever enough to look the first time its turned on i'm stuffed. I don't want to have to buy a separate USB mouse just to tell it I have a wireless mouse, defeats the object!

Nov 10, 2009I just got my Mac Mini today and got it all set up. The guy at the store said any keyboard with Bluetooth should work, but it's not picking up any kind of signal for some reason. Nor is the mouse. I bought the RocketFish Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong? I followed all of the directions on the box and in the instructions. My computer won't let me choose any set up options until it will pick up on the mouse.

Jan 15, 2010I'm looking for a decent mouse that has great comfort, but also matches the iMac as well. I do not enjoy any of the apple mouses, even the magic mouse, mostly because of comfort reasons. I've looked at a few Logitech mouses, and the MX Resolution is by far very comfortable, but doesn't really match or look as great with an iMac. So i'm curious what you are using, and what other mouses you think would go hand and hand with the iMac and provide comfort? I'm thinking about getting the Explorer mouse from Microsoft, but mouses that have charging bases are a bonus, just like the Logitech MX Resolution. Just looks better

A message pops up saying that the connection has been lost. Then, the wired mouse moves around....but won't select or highlight anything...the 'click' doesn't work. I am now considering the IMac; one of the 27" models. My question is: Can I not use the wireless keyboard and mouse? Can I use the same keyboard and mouse from my G5? Can I plug them into one of the USB ports. My external HD is a Firewire 400 connection. Will this work in the one FW 800 port on the IMac? My reason for upgrading from my G5 is that Photoshop Elements 8 will not work on my G5. PE 8 has some features I would like to have.

IMac :: Wireless Keyboard Sharp Edges Scratch Magic Mouse?
Dec 29, 2010I got my new iMac. It's beautiful, but the wireless keyboard has sharp edges. It easily scratches the aluminum finish on the magic mouse bottom, and the plastic on the top. Obviously the answer is "don't hit bump your mouse into your keyboard"... but with the 27" screen... you have to move the mouse A LOT to get your expose' corners working! Other than that, works well.
Side note: exceptionally impressed with parallels 6 -- but I gave it 2 cores and 6gb of RAM.
I can remote desktop into it with my macbook pro and do some quick coding in Visual Studio - nice. To setup remote desktop in parallels 6 -- you need to go to Virtual Machine.. Configure..Network... change it to shared connection with Airport.
IMac :: Wireless M Mouse & Keyboard Lose Connection Effecting New 09 Model
Mar 21, 2009I just purchased a new iMac 24" 2009 Model. I also got a Wireless Mighty Mouse & Wireless keyboard. I have owned the system for 6 days and each day the Mighty Mouse and keyboard will lose connection and require me to hold the power button down on the imac to restart the system. I called apple and was told to do a "Option Command R P" Reset. This did not fix the problem... I then called them again and was told to format the system.. This did not fix the problem.. I replaced the batteries, turned bluetooth off on any near by devices changed my 802.11 freq to a different channel. It seems from information collected from other forums that this is effecting mainly the new alum 2009 imac...I am starting to think this is now hardware. Also something I noticed.. Brand new FRESH Energizer Ultimate Batteries $25. I put them into the mighty mouse. 1 day later iStat reports the mouse is at 73%!! thats a big drop in 1 day

May 8, 2010I received a new iMac about 2 weeks ago, and I'd like to know how long the battery is suppose to roughly last for the keyboard and magic mouse. When I installed iStat Pro widget, it showed the battery power for my mouse, but the keyboard has never showed up. My mouse has been steadily losing battery power and is now at 28%. However, bluetooth states the power to my keyboard is 100%. This doesn't seem correct.
One other thing I've noticed in the bluetooth menu, under devices, is that the keyboard is labeled as "Apple Wireless Keyboard", while the mouse is title's my name's mouse (I.e.: "Darkroom's Mouse"). This may just nothing, but I'm assuming it's another symptom of my keyboard not being fully read by the OS.

Apr 23, 2012I just got a used iMac (running 10.5.8) with the metal keyboard and mouse. I unpacked the box, plugged in the computer, hooked up the keyboard and mouse.The computer screen came up. I can move around a little via the keyboard's arrow keys but the cursor will not move via the mouse. I got it to move a little by swiping my thumb across the back but that is it. I switched my older, working, keyboard and mouse to the newer machine and it didn't work there. I switched the newer metal keyboard and mouse my older iMac and they worked just fine. What could be going on with the new (but used) computer? I have tried every port for the mouse, keyboard as well as every back port but nothing moves the cursor.

Jan 8, 2011Just unpacked my new iMac, the keyboard and mouse are powered up, paired, and discovered. BUT, I thought the "magic" of the mouse was that it's flat surface is supposed to work like a MacBook's trackpad. MINE DOES NOT. It just scrolls around, up and down within a window. Other than that, it works like a regular mouse, just move it, point and click. Is this right? Or did I mess up already? I called AppleCare and they say this is normal, but for what I paid, it should do more magic.

Feb 6, 2009I have a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo 20" Aluminum iMac. I often have a problem with my mouse not working when booting. I turn the computer on, and more than half the time, the mouse infrared thing on the bottom turns on then goes by the time the blue screen comes. Then I have to reboot again, and usually about 3 times before it finally works. I use the Mighty Mouse connected to the Apple Keyboard connected to a USB extension cable. I tried it without that but it still didn't work. Any suggestions would be great. If none of them work, I will contact AppleCare as I am still under warranty.

Apr 26, 2010I got my imac in November '09 and my caps lock works but the green led does not light always.
The only way i can fix it is remove the batteries
Or disconnect and reconnect the keyboard by clicking on the bluetooth icon
So if apple is not going to fix this bluetooth bug im going to see if apple will refund my money so i can get a wired one.
My friends keyboard does this also and im fed up with this bs...

what kind of mouse do you use if you dislike the trackpad on your mb/mbp?
