Hardware :: Bluetooth Mouse That Work With IMac?

Nov 8, 2009

I am truly sick of having to try to 'fix' my mighty mouse by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper etc.

I am going to get rid of the damn thing, but I need to know what to replace it with.

Any recommendations for another bluetooth mouse that'll work with the iMac?

Windows On Mac :: Bluetooth Mouse Won't Work In 7?

May 20, 2010

I have a microsoft bluetooth notebook mouse 5000 that works well in mac osx but when I go to windows 7 in bootcamp it reports that the bluetooth hid device driver is not working and the mouse won't work.

I can get it to detect the mouse and try to load the driver but then it says that the driver installation did not work.

In device manager the bluetooth hid device has a warning icon next to it and it says that the device is not working.

When I try to use my magic mouse in windows the same error happens and it says that the hid bluetooth device driver is not working.

Both mice work fine in mac osx and the microsoft mouse was working ok in windows until last week.

Since then, my son installed a couple of games in the windows side and the mouse started acting up the following day.

Hardware :: Bluetooth Mouse And Keyboard Don't Work At Same Time

Feb 27, 2009

I have a unibook macbook that I wanted to get a wireless keyboard and mouse for. I love the design of the wireless keyboard so I got that one, but I got the Microsoft bluetooth 5000 mouse instead of the mighty mouse due to a few of the poor reviews floating around.

Anyways, so they both arrived today and I set them up, but I am having the most aggravating problem. When they are both connected at the same time, the mouse is jerky, slow to respond and generally irritating to use due to its sloppy and jerky movement. I ran through lots of troubleshooting steps..

Using the latest MSFT drivers for the mouse=no help

using steermouse = no help

But then things got really weird, so the mouse works PERFECTLY if I disconnect the wireless keyboard from the mac. Not turn it off, just disconnected. So I installed both on another machine thinking that maybe its a bluetooth bandwidth issue, nope, both devices work perfectly on a vista machine. So I grabbed another older bluetooth mouse and paired that with the keyboard on the macbook, THAT mouse works perfectly.

So basically, every other single combination (mouse but no keyboard on the mac, older bluetooth mouse and keyboard on the mac, mouse and keyboard on the vista machine) work except for the one configuration I want (keyboard and new mouse on the macbook).

Software is up to date on the macbook as well. I am about to tear my hair out. My first instinct is just that the drivers are bad on the MSFT mouse for OSX, but remember it works perfectly on the macbook if the keyboard is not connected at the same time, (yet its not a bluetooth bandwidth issue bc it works perfectly with the keyboard on teh vista machine).

Hardware :: Can Bluetooth Mouse / Mice Work For Gaming

Jun 23, 2010

are bluetooth mice responsive enough to use for high speed gaming where precision mouse movement is critical? If so, which ones work best?

Long query:

I bought an iMac a year ago and I really like it. It was my first mac. I got the wireless mighty mouse and the wireless keyboard, but I didn't like them and switched to an old logitech 2-button mouse and I bought the full sized apple keyboard with numpad (wired). This meant I had my mighty mouse and my wireless keyboard sitting around as spare.

I just bought a mac mini server version this past Sunday. I love it. However, it is in my living room and connected to my 60" TV. I attached my old mighty mouse and my wireless keyboard via the bluetooth panel in the system preferences. The mighty mouse is VERY sluggish. I'm not talking about sensitivity. I mean that as I move the mouse, even if I move quickly, the mouse starts off really slow then after maybe half a second it zips along. It also is slow to respond to slow-downs in movement or direction changes. This makes gaming (for example City of Heroes) really painful. It was hard to avoid death because I couldn't quickly react with my characters.

Bottom line ... are bluetooth mice responsive enough to use for high speed gaming where precision mouse movement is critical? If so, which ones work best?

I'm prepared to buy a bluetooth mouse if they can be precise and snappy, but then again the mac mini server is really intended to be a media center, so if the answer is no, then its not a big deal. I can still play City of Heroes and other games fine on my iMac.

IMac :: Intel Mouse Freezes - Bluetooth Going Bad?

Feb 7, 2008

Has anyone had a problem with their Intel iMac mouse freezing after it wakes up from being asleep. Check my sig for specs. In particular, we have a wireless mighty mouse and everytime you wake the computer from sleep, the mouse won't work. That includes taking out the batteries and putting them back in. Keyboard still works. Is the bluetooth going bad? Could it be the mouse? We're going to schedule an appointment with the Geniuses here in Memphis so maybe they can figure something out.

IMac :: Bluetooth Firmware Update - Mouse / Keyboard Fix

Jun 17, 2009

I know this affects iMac users than any other product so I thought it would be worth mentioning that Apple has released a Bluetooth firmware update found in Software Update: This update provides bug fixes and better compatibility with the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard. It installs on all Macintosh systems with Bluetooth based on the Broadcom chipset. Those who are having trouble, download and note any improvements for others who are having the same problem.

IMac :: No Mouse / Keyboard Over USB - Attempts To Find Over Bluetooth

Jul 3, 2009

So after upgrading to a mbp as my main machine, I retired my old imac to the bedroom for media center duty. I've got things close to how I want them with front row and plex doing most of the dirty work. For my planned use, no keyboard or mouse are needed. A combo of the apple remote and snatch on my itouch are doing quite well. The problem is, if I turn the machine off, it sees no mouse or keyboard over usb, and attempts to find them over bluetooth. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? I've tried just turning bluetooth off before shutdown, but this doesn't seem to solve it. This is REALLY annoying, as I'd prefer to keep the machine off more often rather than having is sleep all the time.

IMac :: Reconnect Magic Mouse - Can't Move To Bluetooth Icon

Oct 24, 2009

Mainly for the idea to use the monitor as a external monitor. This is what I need. I basically want the magic mouse to automatically connect to the macbook pro when I plug the MacBook into the iMac as an external display. Obviously then I need it to disconnect from the iMac (because apparently you can only pair with one thing w/ bluetooth). I realize you can go thru the tedious steps of disconnecting from the iMac and then reconnecting to the MacBook every time, but its a pain, and honestly I can't figure out how to reconnect to the iMac if the mouse is disconnected (ie I can't move the mouse to the bluetooth icon on the iMac if it's disconnected, I hope that makes sense).

IMac :: Using 27" Magic Mouse/Bluetooth Keyboard In Windows 7?

Nov 15, 2009

I've been trying to get Windows 7 (under Boot Camp) to recognize my Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse, and for some reason it's not working. I first tried it with the drivers that come on the disc, and those didn't work (found the mouse/keyboard but wouldn't work), then I tried the Bluetooth update that Apple released, and that didn't work either. The mouse and keyboard show up in the Bluetooth devices as 'Connected', but neither work.

When I restart the computer the mouse/keyboard work at the login screen, but once I login they stop working. If I boot into Mac OS, and then boot back into Windows, they work fully, but after about 5 minutes they stop working. Why is this happening? Did anyone else have this problem?

MacBook Air :: Bluetooth Mouse + Time Machine = Slow Mouse

Apr 20, 2009

I just upgraded from a MBA rev A to a rev B. I experienced this with both machines, so it's not just a rev A issue...

I use a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse and everything is fine... until my hourly wireless Time Machine backup starts. Then the mouse cursor becomes very choppy and sluggish. As soon as the hourly backup completes, the mouse's responsiveness returns to normal. Throughout all this, the trackpad is just as responsive as always -- no change there. I don't have another bluetooth mouse to see if its just the Mighty Mouse.

When this happens, the Activity Monitor is not spiked. The fans aren't running loud (so I don't expect its an overheating issue). This doesn't happen during a large wireless download -- just Time Machine. It's not a big deal, but rather an annoyance.

Any ideas why? Or even more to the point, any ideas on how to fix it?

IMac PPC :: Why Mouse Won't Work - Cursor Is Not Moving?

Apr 23, 2012

I just got a used iMac (running 10.5.8) with the metal keyboard and mouse. I unpacked the box, plugged in the computer, hooked up the keyboard and mouse. The computer screen came up. I can move around a little via the keyboard's arrow keys but the cursor will not move via the mouse. I got it to move a little by swiping my thumb across the back but that is it. I switched my older, working, keyboard and mouse to the newer machine and it didn't work there. I switched the newer metal keyboard and mouse my older iMac and they worked just fine. What could be going on with the new (but used) computer? I have tried every port for the mouse, keyboard as well as every back port but nothing moves the cursor.

IMac :: Magic Mouse Surface Work Like Trackpad?

Jan 8, 2011

Just unpacked my new iMac, the keyboard and mouse are powered up, paired, and discovered. BUT, I thought the "magic" of the mouse was that it's flat surface is supposed to work like a MacBook's trackpad. MINE DOES NOT. It just scrolls around, up and down within a window. Other than that, it works like a regular mouse, just move it, point and click. Is this right? Or did I mess up already? I called AppleCare and they say this is normal, but for what I paid, it should do more magic.

Mac :: Mighty Mouse Does Not Work With 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo 20" Aluminum IMac?

Feb 6, 2009

I have a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo 20" Aluminum iMac. I often have a problem with my mouse not working when booting. I turn the computer on, and more than half the time, the mouse infrared thing on the bottom turns on then goes by the time the blue screen comes. Then I have to reboot again, and usually about 3 times before it finally works. I use the Mighty Mouse connected to the Apple Keyboard connected to a USB extension cable. I tried it without that but it still didn't work. Any suggestions would be great. If none of them work, I will contact AppleCare as I am still under warranty.

Hardware :: Bluetooth Mouse ?

Jan 13, 2009

Does anybody know of any decent bluetooth rodents worth having a look at? I've come to despise the MM in my few months of using it. I found the bluetooth would constantly drop out (yet my keyboard never gave me a single problem) and that the tracking accuracy was appalling.

Ideally, I'd love the bluetooth version of Logitech's MX Revolution, but I don't want the entire wallet-busting desktop that it is bundled with. Equally, I'd like to avoid smaller brands, simply because I'm a self-confessed mouse snob (hey, I don't want CTS or RSI).

Also, I can't stand these minescule 'notebook' mice. That crosses the Logitech v470 right off the list, sadly. It doesn't look particularly nice, either. If I can't find a suitable bluetooth mouse, I think I'll be settling for Razer's new Mamba announced at CES 2009 (http://ces.cnet.com/8301-19167_1-10136619-100.html). Personally, I don't think there is a better brand of mice than Razer.

Mac Pro :: Bluetooth Mouse Unusable (Lag And Tracking)

Nov 2, 2009

About a month back, I purchased a wireless mighty mouse and tried using it with my 2009 Mac Pro. The lag and tracking were terrible, making it unusable. When connected to my MacBook Air (on the same desk) it worked flawlessly. I assumed at the time there was a problem with the bluetooth on my Mac Pro so I've been meaning to get Apple Support on the case but just haven't got around to it (using the old wired mouse as before).

Now, I'm reading some stories on the peripherals forum that owners of Mac Pro's have issues with lag and tracking with the new Magic Mouse, and some are stating that it's a known problem with the Mac Pro chassis that it doesn't enable adequate bluetooth operation due to all the metal. Is this true? What's your experience using a bluetooth mouse with the Mac Pro?

MacBook Pro :: Bluetooth Mouse Vs Magic One

Jan 16, 2010

Ok, the Magic mouse is nice, it's pretty, it's got great scrolling features and it's bluetooth.

But after a few days of using it all day it's a pain. The ergonomics are not ideal, nowhere near as comfortable as my Logitech gaming mouse (can't remember the name) and my wrist hurts.

What is out there that is a good bluetooth mouse? They all seem a bit wishywashy to me, and the MS one I tried had dreadful latency that really bothers me.

Any suggestions?

Hardware :: Magic Mouse/Bluetooth Gone?

I have the magic mouse and have been using it without incident for the past few months. Yesterday I turned my MacBook on and the mouse no longer worked. The bluetooth icon on the top right of the screen is gone, and when I got into system preferences and mouse, it says it cannot find a mouse. The mouse itself is still in perfect working order (green light etc.). I also just performed all updates. Hopefully someone knows what going on with this.
Thanks.
