IMac :: Bluetooth Won't Work After Install New RAM
Aug 11, 2009
I bought 4GB of RAM and installed it myself. It works fine but now the bluetooth doesnt work. I cant find my mouse, keyboard or cellphone, and I cant even find the mac mini on my cell.. what should I do? I just followed a youtube guide so I dont exactly know what to look for if I open it again. also, are there any chance blietooth is just disabled on the mac mini so all I gotta do is activate it again?

I am truly sick of having to try to 'fix' my mighty mouse by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper etc.
I am going to get rid of the damn thing, but I need to know what to replace it with.
Any recommendations for another bluetooth mouse that'll work with the iMac?

Installed a new bluetooth keyboard today. Now my volume controls and other features on the F1 - F12 Keys do not work.Went into Keyboard Preferences and selected and deselected the [ ] Use All F1, F2, F3 keys as standard function keys. Regardless of the setting, the volume controls do not work. Even when holding down the [Fn] Key. I can adjust volume with the mouse ( new Magic Mouse ) using the control on the menu bar.

I have a microsoft bluetooth notebook mouse 5000 that works well in mac osx but when I go to windows 7 in bootcamp it reports that the bluetooth hid device driver is not working and the mouse won't work.
I can get it to detect the mouse and try to load the driver but then it says that the driver installation did not work.
In device manager the bluetooth hid device has a warning icon next to it and it says that the device is not working.
When I try to use my magic mouse in windows the same error happens and it says that the hid bluetooth device driver is not working.
Both mice work fine in mac osx and the microsoft mouse was working ok in windows until last week.
Since then, my son installed a couple of games in the windows side and the mouse started acting up the following day.

I've just today got a Samsung G600 and I can't get it to work properly via Bluetooth. I get an error when I try to actually do a Send Via > Bluetooth on the phone itself (e.g. a picture); but I can "Browse Files..." in Bluetooth File Exchange, though the folders are empty when they DO have contents in them, so I basically can't retrieve any contents from my phone at all. Any help?

I'm currently considering getting an Apple keyboard, but haven't been able to decide yet whether to take the USB one or the bluetooth one.
I went to a local Apple retailer today and was told that the bluetooth one wouldn't work in Windows. Now, I mostly use OS X, but I do some occasional gaming too, and would need the keyboard to function properly in Windows too. Btw, I have Win XP Pro SP3.
Will a bluetooth keyboard work then?

i was wondering if there is a device that works as a usb hub, but connects to the computer wirelessly via bluetooth to your mac. i think this would be nice since i will have a station where my macbook pro will go every night when i buy it and i would like to simply open it and have it connect to the monitor, printer, speakers, etc. without plug in in a bunch of cables.

I sent my question about 3 weeks ago but have yet to hear from your team.
i've not had a problem linking to my imac to my nokia e50 via bluetooth. it's after the update to OS10.5.6 that the bluetooth function doesn't work anymore.
each time, after selecting my cellphone as the bluetooth device to be browsed, I'll have to wait for at least 1 minute for the connection to be done.
after this, I'll still can't link my cellphone to my imac.
how to resolve the situation?
my imac specs are as follows:
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Can anyone help assist me as to which card I would need for this? Does a standard USB bluetooth adapter work, and with the wireless card , this one from apple says its not compatible with the mac pro.

I have a unibook macbook that I wanted to get a wireless keyboard and mouse for. I love the design of the wireless keyboard so I got that one, but I got the Microsoft bluetooth 5000 mouse instead of the mighty mouse due to a few of the poor reviews floating around.
Anyways, so they both arrived today and I set them up, but I am having the most aggravating problem. When they are both connected at the same time, the mouse is jerky, slow to respond and generally irritating to use due to its sloppy and jerky movement. I ran through lots of troubleshooting steps..
Using the latest MSFT drivers for the mouse=no help
using steermouse = no help
But then things got really weird, so the mouse works PERFECTLY if I disconnect the wireless keyboard from the mac. Not turn it off, just disconnected. So I installed both on another machine thinking that maybe its a bluetooth bandwidth issue, nope, both devices work perfectly on a vista machine. So I grabbed another older bluetooth mouse and paired that with the keyboard on the macbook, THAT mouse works perfectly.
So basically, every other single combination (mouse but no keyboard on the mac, older bluetooth mouse and keyboard on the mac, mouse and keyboard on the vista machine) work except for the one configuration I want (keyboard and new mouse on the macbook).
Software is up to date on the macbook as well. I am about to tear my hair out. My first instinct is just that the drivers are bad on the MSFT mouse for OSX, but remember it works perfectly on the macbook if the keyboard is not connected at the same time, (yet its not a bluetooth bandwidth issue bc it works perfectly with the keyboard on teh vista machine).

are bluetooth mice responsive enough to use for high speed gaming where precision mouse movement is critical? If so, which ones work best?
Long query:
I bought an iMac a year ago and I really like it. It was my first mac. I got the wireless mighty mouse and the wireless keyboard, but I didn't like them and switched to an old logitech 2-button mouse and I bought the full sized apple keyboard with numpad (wired). This meant I had my mighty mouse and my wireless keyboard sitting around as spare.
I just bought a mac mini server version this past Sunday. I love it. However, it is in my living room and connected to my 60" TV. I attached my old mighty mouse and my wireless keyboard via the bluetooth panel in the system preferences. The mighty mouse is VERY sluggish. I'm not talking about sensitivity. I mean that as I move the mouse, even if I move quickly, the mouse starts off really slow then after maybe half a second it zips along. It also is slow to respond to slow-downs in movement or direction changes. This makes gaming (for example City of Heroes) really painful. It was hard to avoid death because I couldn't quickly react with my characters.
Bottom line ... are bluetooth mice responsive enough to use for high speed gaming where precision mouse movement is critical? If so, which ones work best?
I'm prepared to buy a bluetooth mouse if they can be precise and snappy, but then again the mac mini server is really intended to be a media center, so if the answer is no, then its not a big deal. I can still play City of Heroes and other games fine on my iMac.

like a lot of mac lover him having trouble pairing a clone copy of mac aluminium bluetooth keyboard. on a pc under xp no problem and no pairing number required. with my mac osx snow leopard. i was able to paired twice switching from keyboard pairing where my code is accepted with the enter and the second way is where you have the + and - and the list of your bluetooth device listed. i get to the point where i have to enter the paired code but the enter never work. so by switching and closing and trying to pair with both method at the same time i was able to have my keyboard working. Until i reboot or mac goes to sleep. If i had no sucess i would give up, but i been able to make it work twice,,, i don't get it. I have experience bluetooth a long time ago. And usually bluetooth is very easy specially with bluetooth 2.0. him using the 78 keys aluminium top and white plastic bottom with 2 AAA battery. report as vk bluetooth keyboard.

I have a bluetooth remote presenter. It has the usual keys (next, previous, volume, play/pause, start default music player) and it also has a small touchpad / trackpad with left and right buttons, scrolling buttons.
The remote is great and it served me well under Windows and OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Now since I bought a new machine with Maverics, I can't pair it. The bluetooth utility looks different on Mavericks. Certain things missing, such as making Bluetooth discoverable or not in the way of simplification of things or oversimplification of things, where there seems to be no access to Bluetooth device details and no way to add device without pairing code.
The remote is recognized as mouse with keyboard, which makes things worse, there is not only no code on the device, even if there is one (or if it would except 0000, 0000000, or similar), I have no way to enter it.
Unfortunately Maverics made things simple but useless for some bluetooth devices. It's unnecessary.
Seems like I will be stuck with Snow Leopard on one of my machines forever.
When I look in console on SL, here is what I see:
2014-06-28 8:23:11.268 AM System Preferences[7658]: [establishKernelConnection] Received an error from IOServiceOpen() - 0x10000003. NULLing out io_service_t.
There is an entry like this every time I try to pair.
The Bluetooth manager window says -- "Pairing failed"
When I go to Options, it shows the field to enter code. No matter what I enter there or if I leave empty, I won't be able to pair.
Otherwise BT works fine on Maverics, I have Apple keyboard, Logitech kayboard, Apple and Logitech trackpad and audio device connected, no issue.
The Remote presenter works also fine and I tried to re-pair it with other non-Mavericks machines and works fine too.

I have a G5 Imac and after 3 years, the bluetooth connection to a wireless keyboard and mouse constantly cuts in and out. (works for 3 minutes, then won't, then will, etc.)
I've tried the same mouse and keyboard with my macbook and they both work fine with no dropouts.
I've checked for any updates to airport and there are none.
I've tried searching here and at several other forums...I tried deleting some file people suggested and that didn't work....in short I've tried everything I could and nothing has worked.
The only think I can think of is that the bluetooth "controller" or whatever is the engine for the bluetooth in the Imac is just plain bad. The problem is that I don't know exactly what or where it is, or if it is even replaceable?

I have a Nokia 6303 moby with bluetooth. When I try to connect to the internet with it (sitting in front of the mac with the phone), I get the message about 'subscribe to packet data first'. Followed by 'link not available'. I am with Vodaphone in the uk. I believe I have set the correct information up in the phone settings, and the iMac can see the phone and vice versa. Indeed, I can send files between the two devices, but no t'internet. Should I be paying a subscription to the phone company for the service, does anyone know? The help files at Vodaphone just loop me back to the help screens on their website which doesn't seem to answer the 'packet data' question.

I'm having a problem sending pictures from my Samsung U800 to my iMac using the bluetooth connection.
I've gone through all the set up adding my phone and it has said that it is connected successfully and has a list of the folders on my phone but when I open the folders there is nothing in them.
Alternatively when I try to send the pictures from my phone to the iMac it instantly says 'Sending Failed'.

Recently, I've been having an issue where neither my Apple bluetooth Keyboard or Magic Trackpad pair automatically with the iMac at my password login screen. This forces me to hold down the power button and force a restart of the machine. Both accessories have plenty of battery power and pair fine after restarting. In a related problem, sometimes neither accessory will wake the iMac from sleep and I suspect it's because the bluetooth is dropping connection while asleep, thus making it impossible to wake up the iMac. Corrupt bluetooth .plist file? Or, could there be a problem with the iMac's built in bluetooth?

Has anyone had a problem with their Intel iMac mouse freezing after it wakes up from being asleep. Check my sig for specs. In particular, we have a wireless mighty mouse and everytime you wake the computer from sleep, the mouse won't work. That includes taking out the batteries and putting them back in. Keyboard still works. Is the bluetooth going bad? Could it be the mouse? We're going to schedule an appointment with the Geniuses here in Memphis so maybe they can figure something out.
