I can't seem to find instructions on the Apple Support site on how to remove the keyboard from a 12" Powerbook.
Can someone here explain to me how to remove it? One of the keys is sticky, so I'm hoping that I can just pop off that key and clean it. And I guess I should ask what the safest way of popping out a key is .. don't want to break anything!
I'm thinking of buying a MacBook but I have one reservation. I'm moving from a Powerbook 12"...
What's the consensus on the MacBook keyboard in terms of ease & comfort of use? I write for a living so a good keyboard is pretty essential. I've always been mostly satisfied with my powerbook keyboard, it's pretty comfortable although I occasionally mash a neighbouring button with my big clumsy fingers. The MacBook keyboard looks a little... weird. How is it?
I've got a powerbook G4, but the screen's all messed up. I've got it going through an external monitor right now, and is it possible at all to completely remove the screen, and just use the bottom half as a desktop? I know I'd be losing the airport, but we have wired internet. Would I be losing anything else, and would this work?

I wanna know how I can change my combo drive with a new one because this which I have is broken, I have a powerbook g4 at 12 inch, I have search it on the internet for some tutorials but I didn't find no tutorial, I found how to remove the hard drive but not the cd drive. Does any one knows how to do this.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi turn on my powerbook, after about 10 minutes a loud vibration along with noise comes from what i am sure is the dvd drive, and crashes my finder (computer). there is no disk in the drive and I have tried using it with a disk in the drive, but the same thing happens.my warranty is well over, i just need it to work and don't need the dvd drive.so, my question:is it possible to disable or remove the drive from the computer and it still function?

The problem is that I left a cd in the drive that I'd really like to get out. Is there a method for physically removing it with a paperclip or is there a button I could press within the drive?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a 1 GHz 15" Powerbook Ti. It is in good cosmetic condition except for a few dark marks from the keyboard on the screen. I can feel them with a fingernail, so I know they are residue from the keys. Is there any way these can be removed without damaging the screen? I have had very good results using toothpaste and a damp cloth on other surfaces, but I am leery of using even a very mild abrasive on the screen. I have even used newsprint on some sensitive surfaces with good results but if you make an error on the screen, it is either permanent or expensive. I suppose I could try in a corner but I know there are anti-glare coatings on the screens and I could make things worse. This is most noticeable when there is a light-colored area displayed right under the marks.

(i believe the Aluminium Powerbooks and the MacBook Pros are using the SAME keyboard, so which one you like best? my girlfriend had an ibook and the keyboard was "alright", better than ALL the PC keyboards out there, but i had an AlPowebook and that keyboard was BLISS!! i currently own a Blackbook and i REALLY dig the keyboard, but the powerbook's keyboard was by far the coolest/easiest/most confortable keyboard EVER.

When I bought this PowerBook, someone spilled soda into the PowerBook's keyboard, and everything on this computer works fine, except for the letters S, W, and Z.
If you pull the keys off, You can see the soda marks, I know with desktop keyboards, you can clean this and it would be fine, however, this has the keys that light up, so I do not know. What should I do besides pay $250 for a new keyboard from Apple?
I know in Keyboard Prefs you can add keyboard shortcuts. But can you REMOVE standard keyboard shortcuts? Specifically, I want to get rid of cmd+m (minimize) and cmd+p (print).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a new iMac (OS 10.7.4) and was wondereing if it possible to stop my machine from constantly changing the input menu from "Britsh" to "U.S.". This is the item with the small national flag icon in the Finder menu.
Is there a way of removing one of these options permanently, in my case remove the U.S. option?
Anyone of you experiencing suborn stain, I.E keyboard become yellowish after a long terms usage? (On apple keyboard), well here is the solution for you guys. All you need is
-Toothpaste (any will do but, It works well if the toothpaste have the effect for whitening)
-Clothe,(white color clothe so you can see the toothpaste actually working)
-a little bit amount of water
Okay all you need is take a little bit amount of toothpaste, use your finger apply it evenly on the area, rub on it, after about 10 second of rubbing use the clothe to continue rubbing until you see your keyboard start to turn to normal color as you purchase after rubbing the toothpaste should be dry up but no worries it will leave no stain, use another clothe dip in a little bit amount of water(very little, don't deep in too much else the water will accidentally drip in to the keyboard). and rub on the area. You can see actually the keyboard start to turn to white color, repeat the sequence to achieve the maximum result that you desire.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just noticed that in my Finder window sidebar, under "Shared", I have a character called Thomson listed. I don't know any Thomson and I bought the machine, an MBA, brand new. However, I did have an engineer instal the machine in my apartment and can only assume he's the mysterious Thomson. Anyway, whoever he/she is, I don't want him/her on my machine as Shared & "connected as guest". The point is, I cannot find a way to delete Thomson!! Can anyone help? I've tried System Preferences>Security and Accounts and there's no trace of Thomson there. Right clicking on Thomson in the sidebar of Finder only gives me the option to Open and Get Info. Most annoying, this. There MUST be a way to delete a Sharing but totally unwanted guest....

View 3 Replies View RelatedYesterday I had a Leopard software update which included new keyboard firmware. I did the update and the keyboard continued to function normally. This AM I booted my MacBook Pro and discovered the keyboard no longer responds to inputs. However, the MB does responds to an external USB keyboard.
Now I don't know if I have a sudden hardware problem or the MB keyboard is not working as a result of the firmware update. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Can I go back to the earlier revision of the keyboard firmware?

I just bought a new 2012 aluminum Wireless keyboard and the function keys do not work properly. I am currently running OS 1.5.8. I would expect most keys to match the icons on the keyboard. I do not want to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have installed an aluminum keyboard upgrade 2.0 and this did not help. I just want the the keyboard functions to match the icons on the keyboard.. Volume up...volume down...

I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my friend was using his MacBook and went to do something else. He came back and the screen was black, he hit space and nothing, tried the trackpad and nothing. He restarted by holding the Power button, and it go to the log-in screen, but he can't type anything, or use the trackpad. He has tired restarting several times and no luck. He also tried an external Keyboard/Mouse and that didn't work.
He did plug in a Flash drive and the light turned on, so the USB ports are at least getting power, but nothing is working.
