IMac :: Display Has Yellow Vertical Line?
Mar 30, 2009I have a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac that has developed a vertical yellow line in the display that won't go away even when restarted. It's like a 1 pixel column of dead pixels right in the middle of the screen. I think it's still under warranty. Is this something that can be fixed under the warranty?

Jun 21, 2010i've got a little problem with my Mac Book Pro.
I have a white line in the display where I also have my dock. So it's not always on the same Display. You can see a few pictures attached that show you that this line is some kind of weird. Windows that are always in the front like "About my Mac" are over this line and if I open all windows of one program I get three of those lines.
The lines are here since I updated my MacBook to the newest firmware.
OS X :: Fuzzy White Line Through MBP Display?
Jul 21, 2010I actually don't know how long I've had this problem, as I just sort of noticed it one day (it's not all that readily apparent). The title of this thread basically says it all. There's a "fuzzy," thin white(ish)/translucent band that stretches horizontally across my 15'' glossy MacBook Pro display (purchased in early 2010, so I guess it's considered a mid 2009 model), about an inch up from the bottom of the bezel. It's only super noticeable on top of relatively neutral colors. I'm quite certain that it's a hardware issue, as it doesn't appear in screenshots. I've attached a photograph to this thread so you can see it for yourself.. the band I'm talking about is just above the mouse pointer (and clearly my dock is hidden so you can see it easier). If there are any hardware savvy people here, I'd be most appreciative if you could clue me in to the exact nature of the problem, and whether or not you think I could fix it myself... I think my basic 1 year warranty is still good, but I haven't decided if the problem is worth living without my mac for a few days (or weeks? this is my first apple computer, so I don't know how long repairs typically take).

Mar 22, 2012I recently bough a 2nd hand MacBook Pro off eBay & all has been fine until today when I was using it. Suddenly a green line appeared down the right hand side of the screen. I did a bot of research & people say it could be the GPU, but I know that this particular MBP has had the logic board replaced only last year. I'm not entirely sure what it is, but the line has now gone.

Apr 19, 2012I started noticing what I describe as ant-lines running vertically across my late 2009 27" iMac. I am fairly certain that they were not there before but I can't really remember. I did a search and found some discussions regrading video issues and vertical line anomalies but none like what I am seeing. url...It's noticable from a distance of about 2 feet and closer. It's not visible on white or black but midtones is where I see it. It gets really distracting at about 20" and closer, especially in iPhoto when scrolling through photos.Has anyone else seen anything like this and do you guys think I will have any luck getting something like this fixed with a Genius appointment? I do still have AppleCare.

Oct 16, 2008when I woke my pbook up the screen had a horizontal line across it, and below that there is doubling and tripling of the screen image going on. Rebooting didn't accomplish anything and when I take a screenshot it doesn't show up there. I have a 12" Powerbook G4, running os 10.4.11.

Jul 8, 2010I have a core i7 MBP with the high res display, and when the display is showing black, a horizontal green line appears on the screen. It is only visible when the screen is showing black or another very very dark color, and the line is not visible with the screen off. It isnt something on the screen, as rubbing it does not affect it at all. I cannot post a screenshot of it, because it does not appear in the screenshot (it does on my screen, because the line is there physically, but on other monitors it is not visible).

Aug 23, 2014I have noticed a white line (photo 1) on the top of my retina display (MacBook Pro 13" retina mid 2014) when I open the Launchpad. In other conditions the line seems to be absent. For example, if I run App Exposé (photo 2), I don't notice any line on the top of the screen. Is it a normal behavior for the retina display? Is it a hardware or software issue?

Sep 5, 2014i recently bought a 13"retina display macbook pro. It is so disappointing. There is a horizontal line that appears on the screen and disappears. This was for the third time i had to face the same issue. When i explain to the staff at the apple store they say that they have not come across such issue, for which i showed a proof from the other part of the world.

MacBook Pro :: White Vertical Line Down The Right Side Of Internal Display
Jun 21, 2014I have a white vertical line down the right side of my internal brand new macbook pro 13" display. I've done the following:
-Shutdown the computer, and restarted in Safe Mode by pressing the Shift key after the restart tone
-Shutdown the computer, and restarted by pressing Command, Option, P & R after the restart tone
-Checked display resolution, Best for Retina
-Hooked it up to a Dell external monitor and via projection to screen. There are no lines on the external or secondary screens
-Just curious, I ran a color utility which can not repair 4 items, maybe this is another issue.
This is a brand new Macbook Pro, just out of the box. It was fine for two days without any issues, fine last night while in use, opened it up this morning with the line.

Mar 23, 2009I made a DVD in iMovieHD, which I burned to DVD using Toast Titanium. The disk played and I watched it in different players. I made a copy for my son and he was able to view it on his PC. Now, neither disc is readable. I currently use iMovie 6. The computer does not recognize the disc at all and ejects it. The DVD was of our 2007 vacation to Yellowstone and I still have the still images and DV tape, but I really don't want to remake the video. How can it be possible that a DVD that once worked perfectly, is no longer recognized?

Oct 24, 2009After loads of headwork I may have a perfect running Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro. I was running XP but decided for a change, installed 7 but had the issues with sound, keyboard, bluetooth etc etc tried a few things but no joy. So went to Vista instead, things worked fine but didn't partition enough space so another reinstall was needed, then came the brainwave if everything is running smoothly in Vista surely if I upgrade to 7 it should still work, ok I was a little wrong 90% of it did.
I even had sound, bluetooth issue was resolved just needed to uncheck 'allow computer to control sleep thing' just needed to sort out the keyboard backlight, eject and fn keys. So in my wisdom I reinstalled bootcamp 2.1 update, ignore the messages that come up it will install...reboot and voila all Working! I will be rigorously testing this over the next week so will post back any issues, hopefully there wont be any. By the way I am using the x86 version as my MBP doesn't support 64bit. So in short:
Partition > Vista (make sure fully updated) > Upgrade to Windows 7 > reinstall Boot Camp >
Mac :: Broken Screen But Machine Still Works Perfectly?
Dec 16, 2009Anyone ever had the screen fixed in a macbook/ macbook pro ?I jumped out of bed at he weekend and stood on my late 2008 model macbook pro. tht I had been surfing in bed the night beforehe result is a fine crack on the top of the screen the machine still works perfectly. I have it inured but there is a ?250 excess, and it is still under warranty, but I am sure that apple won't fix it for free with me standing on it with my elephant feet!

I've got no network software running in the background (other than dropbox), and I don't think I've set up a custom DNS. Not really sure how to check what it is. This is an on and off thing, sometimes facebook loads, sometimes it doesn't. Using computers connected to the same WiFi, I can freely access Facebook with no issues.

Jul 27, 2010I have given up gaming and want to focus on large photoshop art pieces (raster, poster size printable). I want smooth, lag-free performance and I tend to lean away from all-in-ones like the iMac so was going to get a 6 core Mac Pro. That said, I likely do not need the expandability of the Mac Pro but I am willing to pay a bit of a premium to ensure the best long term experience. I'm just not sure there is a solid benefit for the extra cost of the Pro. I'm also somewhat clueless about and dubious of the idea of laptop processors in the iMac. I've read some of the posts about iMac vs MacPro before but now with the upgrades to the iMac and the MacPro announcements I was hoping some of you could provide some solid advice on which route I should take.

Mar 10, 2012Whenever I try to use Screen Sharing to control this one particular Mac Mini, and someone else is using the mini, and I pick "Connect to Virtual Display", I get dropped to a grey linen screen. Like the login screen, but without a list of usernames or anything. There it sits. Here is what I see in the console of the mac mini when I try and use a virtual display from the other machine:

IMac PPC :: Line In Won't Pick Up Any Sound?
Jan 31, 2012Alright, this is really annoying. I've been trying to record myself playing music on imovie to show people, but my line in won't pick up any sound! I've tried system prefrences>sound>line in and turning it all the way up and I've tried Utilities>Audio MIDI>Line In and turning that all the way up. I've tried everything I could think of and NOTHING is happening!

How much DATA do you have Oo-line?
This is data and not total capacity. This includes all your on-line data: music, images, video, the OS, all of it. It doesn't include back-up data even if it's on-line like Time Machine tho. Just active data.
And of the on-line storage devices used for that DATA totally, what % are they filled to?
For example if you had two 500 GB drives and about 400 GB of data you would answer:
"I have < 500 GB of DATA on-line." and,"My on-line storage is between 25% and 50% full.".
Mac Pro :: Problems Recording In Garage Band (line In, Line Out )
Jan 7, 2010i'm having some issues recording in garage band which should hopefully be easy to clear up. i record an instrumental track into garage band through the line-in jack in the back. the track shows up in garage band just fine and plays, but i'm running into trouble recording while that track is playing. i plug my headphones in so i can try to hear the track while i am recording vocals, but i am unable to hear the track. i checked the inputs/outputs in system preferences and output is set to headphones, microphone is set to line in. so i'm not too sure what it could be.
