Just bought a 26" tv and want to connect it up to my macbook, I can get it to work but the very outer edge of the screen is cut off eg, the menu bar at the top cannot be seen. Can I do anything to fit everything on?

Is it possible to uniformly make everything bigger so the higher res only make image and text sharper and not smaller than original resolution?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife's macbook monitor is destroyed due to happy 2 year old. It won't be worthwhile to replace the monitor and it is not fixable without some expensive work being done on it, therefore I would like to use our TV as an external monitor and retire the macbook to being a mediia computer. I have connected it to the TV, and I see an empty desktop, as far as I can determine it looks like it is treating the TV as a secondary display - that the desktop is extended onto - so I cannot actually interact with the normal desktop. When I try to run things using keyboard shortcuts I hear some sounds of things starting, but I don't see anything on the TV. So what I need to do is to have some way to tell it to treat the secondary display as the primary display.

This is a Mac Pro 2013. It runs Yosemite 10.10.1. I have a Panasonic 4K TV connected to it, running at 3840 x 2025 @ 24 Hz. This Panasonic does not display the left and right inch or so of the screen image.
Looking at this, the Mac Pro 2013 version of a 4K image is 4096 x 2160 pixels, which is 256 pixels wider than this Panasonic screen and might just account for the problem I am seeing. How can I reduce the output on the Mac so that it nicely fits onto the pixels of the Panasonic screen? After all this used to happen very easily with my 1920 x 1080 previous monitor.

My external display (HP w2207) seems to conflict with my MacBook Pro (15 inch Retina display, early 2013) since I upgraded MacBook OS to 10.9.4.The external display works at initial boot of Mac but does not work after OS sleeps and I attempt to awaken, and while the external display is not waking, the Retina display flashes through different screen views, which only partially reflect my normal screen, or do not reflect my normal screen at all.

Problem exists on MacBook Pro (15", Late 2008) and MacBook Air (11", Late 2010) using a mini-displayport -> VGA adapter. When an external monitor (Dell E177FP) is connected it is recognized but appears as a "VGA Display". No problems with usage, however when the mac is put to sleep the monitor sees it as a no signal situation and displays its built in test instead of going into powersave mode. When I first hooked up the monitor I was using an old cable that was most likely damaged (screen was showing alot of artifacts) but this problem did not occur and the display slept fine. I then bought a new Belkin 6' VGA cable and have had this problem ever since.
I compared the two cables and noticed the new one had the #9 pin, where the old had just a blank. Thinking maybe this old monitor didn't like to have the 5V coming in I modified (Read: ripped out pin #9) my new cable to no avail.

I opened a slideshow file, probably made with Powerpoint, and it went full screen and is playing Glenn Miller's in the Mood over and over. Strangely, I can't see any of the images being played and it's just a blank white square in the middle of the fully blacked out screen. What do I press to get this to stop and the program to close?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been drawn to the 24" LED Cinema Display since it came out, but have such a tough time justifying the spend of $899 on a screen. Surely the manufacturing cost of a 24" LED backlit display has come down in the past year and a half so I think Apple could sell so many more units if they just offered some sort of bundle package deal. For example, why not offer a $200 rebate on the purchase of an Apple display with a new Mac, similar to the iPod Touch promotion? Even at $699, it would still be tough to swallow, but some may just bite the bullet to take advantage of the offer.
I hope they do something like this when/if they release the rumored 27" Cinema Display, but I know it's unlikely. So what do you think --- would I just be better off buying a 27" iMac down the line than get nailed for one of these displays? (Note: I have the 15" MacBook Pro and it rarely leaves my house).
I tried to use some software to test the display. I found when the screen goes to completely dark with the backlight on, the bottom side of my screen is brighter than other parts.... have u guys met any problem like that, or is this some problem with my MBA?
Whenever I try to use Screen Sharing to control this one particular Mac Mini, and someone else is using the mini, and I pick "Connect to Virtual Display", I get dropped to a grey linen screen. Like the login screen, but without a list of usernames or anything. There it sits. Here is what I see in the console of the mac mini when I try and use a virtual display from the other machine:

I recently switched from Windows, and while I love OSX overall, I miss the ability to make a window fill the screen. I don't want to do it all the time, but want to be able to do it when I'm focusing on a single program, or want to use as much screen real estate as possible.
Are there any plugins, programs, or Automator settings that would allow me to do this?
Love my MBA but couldn't resist the temptation to pick up an HP 10" netbook since the Amazon price was pretty cheap ($399). It's a nice little machine which I can throw in my briefcase. However, do a little bit of work on this ten incher and then open up the MBA, and suddenly my 13" MBA looks looks huge! Each machine clearly has it's role. The netbook is fine for my daily train trip to work and to shlep around. It would not accompany me on a trip or for times requiring a lot of work and certainly does not sit in the same universe of power as the MBA, but as Randy Jackson would say, "It's a'right". I think the MBA has won my heart.

At the moment it automatically boots into machintosh unless I hold down the "option" key and select a diffrent volume from the boot menu. What I would like to do is instead of booting straight into mac os x id like it to open the boot menu first so I can select the Volume and OS.

I'm planning on using my MBP/Photobooth at an event where I would have people take pictures of themselves (because Photobooth is fun and will attract people).
My question is... Is there a "skin" or app or plugin that will take make Photobooth FULL SCREEN? I want it to hide the operating system... just full on Photobooth action.
I was wondering if there was maybe a screen filter or something of that sort that you can apply on the MBA to make it have a matte appearance? I don't like the glossy screen as there is a lot of reflection from light making it hard to see at times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to make my Firefox fullscreen (without the Mac Taskbar on top), but I can find a viable solution. When researching a few places, I found out that there is an bundle called "Megazoomer" and it requires Simbl.
Once I run the installer of Simbl and dragged the Megazoomer into my Library/Application Support folder. It doesn't work. It just makes a sfx noise that nothing is working.
When I press cmd + enter, it won't work. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I am running Leopard on a 2.33 Ghz MacBook Pro.
