I have an HP C4200 series printer hooked up to my AE, which works flawlessly with both of my macs. My dad has an HP laptop that he uses (can't get him to switch) and I cannot get it to print to that printer for the life of me. I have installed the latest bonjour set up wizard and it sees it fine, but when I try to print to it, nothing.

I just bought a Toshiba satellite laptop with Windows 7 and am trying to set up my printer. I have a Canon Pixma MP500. I'm using my airport express for the router. I have no trouble connecting to the internet. It works perfectly. The problem is trying to get my printer to work with the airport. I've tried creating a new port with the ID address but my printer does not show as an option. Of course I can't find the installation cds (figures!). I have been able to add the printer under the local printer, but then I have to go back into the set up network/blue tooth option and it recognizes it. But then when I try to print it says that something is in the print queue blocking the current printing, but there is nothing there.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Canon MX310 hooked up via a USB hub (shared with a HD) to an gigabit AEBS. Everything works fine under Leopard but no Windows boxes (either bootcamp or otherwise) can see the printer as being online. I have the latest Bonjour and even tried manually installing the printer. I checked the port/IP and everything is as it should be. Airport Utility says that printer is being shared over Bonjour and the Bonjour Print Wizard has no problem finding the printer for me to set up but the printer appears offline and won't print. I have rebooted the AEBS. All boxes are running Windows 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to set up my printer (HP 1515) so that I can print to it even when I am not on the LAN, but also using WAN. The airport extreme has now been set up for Bonjour and all that, but the HP printer is connected using an Ethernet cable, NOT USB. It seems the Airport printer sharing is made for connecting a printer to the Airport USB port, and NOT for any ethernet printers.
Is there any way I can print from outside - WAN - to my LAN printer, connected via ethernet to my airport?
I am in need of some help with my AEBS v2. I just bought it today and a little bit confused coming from a Linksys.I have an HP Photosmart C4480 and setup the printing and it works with my MBP but when I try to add it for my sister's Windows XP laptop it can't find the printer whatsoever even with bonjour installed and all. Current set upCable modem to Airport Extreme - hardwired to house PC. Wireless to Imac, G5 mac, xbox 360, ipad - all works with excellent signal and speed.Printer located on 2nd floor by Mac G5 and printed via wireless before airport extreme and will not print. There is no way we can set up the air port at the G5 with the printer or move the printer to airport extreme. Does the printer have to be USB connected to work - we just want to transmit to the wireless printer with no connection.

The airport utility sees the printer but when I try to print, the Imac does not see the printer. I hardwired the Imac to the Airport because I assumed the connection speed woud be better. Could this be the problem? I am able to get on-line from my laptop PC so I know the thing is working. I have not tried to print from the laptop.

The iMac will print if it is connected to the printer directly via USB. The iMac continues to connect to the Internet wirelessly. I've tried resetting the printer and ensuring the driver is up to date, but no joy.

I searched the forums, and followed the advice of connecting the printer directly and getting the drivers. This worked fine - and I could then print from Win 7 (64 bit)... But still no Airport joy.
Anyone know if I can check whether Bonjour was installed? Is it automatic when doing bootcamp? I've been trying to get it from the apple site, but the link is down:[URL]
Ok, I feel like a doofus, but I need some help if someone is willing.
I bought an Airport Extreme and installed per instructions on the Mac partition. The Extreme replaces an Express as the base unit, the express now extends the range of the network (and is now connected to my stereo system). So, the "new" network that was set up has the exact same name as the old one when it was just the Express.
Everything works fine on the mac side. When I go to my Win XP side (Boot camp) it sees the network but says it cannot connect. To put is simply, I can't remeber what I need to do. I haven't had to mess with this stuff since I set it up almost 2 years ago. Do I need to set up a new network?... I am just drawing a blank. Is keeping the same name for the "new" network part of my problem?
This is driving me insane. Just got a new Centrino laptop (obviously with wireless), but it refuses to see the AirPort network. I have reset the base station so there is no encryption of anykind, but still no joy.
Is there anything that needs to be set on the AirPort for this to work?
Running Windows 7 PC, connected to a brand new airport extreme via 802.11n. Running Airport Utility 5.5.2.
When I run Airport Utility, I can see the base station in the left panel, but both options to either run manual setup or "easy" setup give me the same error. Says that it cannot connect to the airport, error -4. Tried everything I could think of including multiple re-installs, wireless and wired, and disabling firewalls/antivirus.
I've been looking for a router that'll let me share a HD via network and wow.... pretty much everything D-Link has some weird proprietary something or rather. Linksys has a few but the only one I can find that's also dual band is the wrt610n.
My Macbook Pro is out of the country for a while so I'll primarily be using my desktop PC for a while, and I have a girlfriend who uses her windows PC with a a/b/g/n wifi card.
So what do you think guys? Will APE work for me, or should I be looking into something else?
Can I partition the drive so I can use a portion for time machine backup while I use the rest for storage via fat32?
I have windows xp on a laptop, it shows I have a wireless connection with the older airport, but when I go to browse, IE or chrome won't load websites. I've tried updating everything and enabling wireless zero configuration, to no avail.

I use an old Apple AirPort Extreme (hereinafter "AAE") as my router (it's the old "dome shaped" one). I believe that heoretically I could plug the printer into the USB port on the back of the AAE and any computer connected to that network can print to the Dell printer. I have installed the drivers for the Dell AIO Printer and it prints fine when connected to my laptop (Windows 7). However, I am having NO luck doing this when I go to Control Panel and run the "add a printer wizard." Is there anyone who might be able to point me in the right direction to a tutorial or something? Is what I'm trying to do even possible with an AAE and an "older" Dell printer?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI attached external hard drive to Airport Extreme, set up home network and mounted the hard drive. My MacBook Pro can see the drive and all contents, including iTunes library. Our home PC which is running Windows XP also recognizes the drive and can see iTunes library in My Computer. Here is the problem. When I try to chose which iTunes library to open (Shift+click) in Windows XP, the library on my external HD is not visible so I cant open it! I see the cover art and music folder, just not the actual library. What am I missing here? I can see it in My Computer, why not in iTunes?! I need to link my external library to XP. Connecting external directly to PC will not work because I have a Time Capsule there.

I have to think that at least some of the new features don't actually require new hardware. Was getting 28-33mbps download speeds using speedtest.net to test now i'm getting only 4-6mbps. WTH!!! Also the transfer rate for backing up my macbook to the tc drive is ridiculous!!!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Airport Extreme, with two USB hard drives connected to it. The Airport Extreme shares these disks to my wireless network via Airport Disks.
Upstairs I have an Airport Express, that wirelessly connects to my Airport Extreme downstairs, and extends the wireless network so I get a good wireless reception upstairs.
My problem is, that it does not seem like me Airport Express does a good job of forwarding my 2 USB Airport Disks to the extended wireless network upstairs.
For example, when I use the AirVideo iPhone app to stream video from my USB Airport Disks I get a server connection error when I go upstairs and the iPad/iPhone switches to the Airport Express networks. I cannot reconnect as long as it is on the Airport Express network. If I turn the airport Express off, and thus switch to the poor wireless reception from the Airport Extreme, I can connect to the USB Airport disks again.
The Airport Express is connected to the Airport Extreme in bridged mode.
I have previously time machine backups for two macbook pros on same drive. However, I connect the drive to the airport extreme and although I see the drives and the backups, I can not access the files over Airport Extreme.

I want to avoid any conflicts with my old settings for my wireless network with my MBP. Just bought a new Airport Time Capsule 3TB for backup purposes and to use as the main router in my home (model number A1470 the latest tall one). I was originally using an AirPort Extreme (model number 1408 approx 6" square and 1' tall) for my main router. Â
I got the TC setup and putting out good wifi signal, but would like to take my Extreme and extend it off the TC to boost signal in other parts of my house, but having some difficulty. I searched the forums and found setup instructions to do this, but I get a message saying, "unexpected error. Try again." Well, tried again and still no luck.Â

I have two macbook pro's (wife and I both have one) and use it for my PS3 and Xbox 360. I started a new job and was given a free HP desktop (not my choice, but hey, it's free, so what can I say). The desktop is not wireless and I am not able to put my computer near the airport extreme because my TV already owns that territory. Today I bought the Airport express to use as a bridge (and other things in the future). I have plugged it in. I opened the airport utility using my macbook. It finds my extreme and my express. I select that I want to set up the express. I select that I want to set it up using an existing wireless network. I select my airport extreme. It tells me that it has to restart the express. I wait approximately 3 minutes. It then tells me that the settings to the express have been changed but it's not able to find it.
My main goal is to use the express as a bridge. I have the express plugged in beside the desktop and want to run an ethernet cable from the express to the desktop to allow for wireless capability.
I have a Macbook (white unibody) running Snow Leopard. I have a personal wireless network using an Airport Extreme and I have an external hard drive (WD) connected to the Airport Extreme. I use this hard drive for my Time Machine Back ups.
I just got back from a trip and tried to back up my time machine. I got the error that the back up disk is not available. I then tried to open the airport utilities.
It tells me that "Airport Utilities is unable to find any Airport Wireless devices". I find this doubly strange because I have no problem connecting to the internet on this wireless network which supposedly does not exist.
I bought the new airport extreme to extend the wifi range in my household and hoped to share a hdd. Upon my experience and reading the forums, the sharing hdd is not as easy as I thought. But that is not my issue at the moment.
My issue is with extending the network. A couple weeks of ago, I did the setup to connect the two airport extremes together (older round AE & new box AE) using aiport utility. It seemed to have work because the signal was stronger in a part of the house that usually had 0 to 1 bar.
But shortly after, the signal showed itself as inconsistent. The signal strenght is jumpy from 0 to full bars. And right now, I am sitting in a part of the house that used to have 0 bars and now, I get full bars. And yet my mbp cannot see the newer, closer in distance AE.
