I got master which is HD 1920 x 1080 prores then convert it to 720 x 480 widescreen then compressing it to m2v. Notice pixels appear every 1 frame between 13 frames last about 15 sec on m2v. Why is that? Is there other compressor program than apple compressor. I use Compressor 3.5.3.

The image goes from one side of the screen to the other, and I would like to use the ease controls to smooth the movement, but the program does not allow me to do it in the control + J window. I can do it with a video clip, but not with this single frame animation. Is there a way a can do that?

Within the frame, there's good material but a lot of garbage around the edges that I don't want (what Sally Hogshead would call "screen crapture"). The good stuff lasts the entire duration of the clip, is not perfectly centered, and does not move at all in its placement or change size throughout the clip.
If I crop or trim, I can eliminate the garbage, either making it transparent or black (there's no other clip beneath it to show through) easily enough. Is there a way to then export just the desired portion of the video frame (the non-cropped good stuff) as its own video at a smaller frame size?

I tried sandwich a clip with Ken Burns effect by other Ken Burns effect clips with identical starting and ending frames. However, clips are non-continuous when playing the video.

i've been editing a movie and in the viewer i set my in and out points and drag it down to the timeline. when i do this, final cut is adding about 10-15 frames to the end of where i set my out point. does anyone know why this is happenng and how to turn it off?

My media has been transcoded to pro res 422 (HQ) from another codec (I don't know which one, I don't have original footage) using PAVTUBE HD converter. What's the best way to deal with this situation ? It's a 2 hour long conference and I don't feel like looking at the whole thing without blinking my eyes to find and cut all the little green frames.

I have a simple sequence where a I some actors on a green screen keyed. They are on top of another video clip that has motion with the camera (it pulls back).
I transformed the actors to be small and I animate them as the camera pulls back to show them getting smaller and movie up and to the right a bit (proper perspective for the camera move).
The camera moves eases out and then at the end, it eases in, so the animation I have is off in the beginning and in.
I checked out an online article about video animation in FCP X and I see a picture of Ease In/ Out when you right click a key frame in the timeline with Video Animation show.
When I right-click on a key frame, the only option I see is Delete Key Frame.
I have a Mac Pro, 2 x 2.66 GHZ 6-Core Intel Xeon machine with 24 GB of 1333 MHZ DDR3 memory.
I have both miniDV videotapes recorded on camcorders as well as on JVC recorder. I also have S-VHS videotapes recorded on the JVC recorder (which is a dual recorder, with the miniDV deck on the left and S-VHS deck on the right)
Whenever I try to import video from either deck (or from a Canon Elura camcorder) into FCP X, I get thousands of separate clips ranging from a few tenths of a second in length to 20 seconds or so in length. When these clips are loaded into the timeline, there is a video and audio stutter whenever the playback cursor crosses between adjacent clips, indicating that a frame or two or more has been dropped. Making a compound clip is no luck, the stuttering due to dropped frames persists. This makes it completely impossible to edit since no clip is long enough to be usable.
The dropped frames seem to be due to the program, not the cameras, tape deck or videotapes since the problem occurs across all camera platforms as well as the two videotape formats. It's as if FCP X has a hair trigger in identifying some variance in frame rates that it judges to be a dropped frame, and immediately terminates the import of that little clip and goes on to the next import, only to repeat the same process THOUSANDS OF TIMES. The problem persists whether I record imports to my SSD startup disk, to my internal RAID, or to peripheral disks.
This did not happen in previous versions of FCP using the exact same video equipment and tape formats but a different computer. There seems to be no way to tell FCP X to ignore any variation of time code and I'm concerned that this problem will render my current equipment and videotapes worthless.
How do I put multiple graphic images into one frame? - so it kind of looks like a video wall - except these are still images. I can do it manually but it's not precise.

When you export a file (say for example for an Apple Device, 1080) and you view the file in Finder, in the icon view, the file displays a frame from the clip. Is there a way to define what frame in the clip that it uses? In the files I've exported, it's not the first frame of the file. It appears to be about 10 minutes in. This is the same frame that gets used when you sync the file to an iDevice.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI’ve got the locked edit in FCPX. 90+ min, 8000 clips.Timeline is set at 23.98, clips on the timeline are some 23.98, but mostly the BMCC 24p. No prob for FCPX. It plays with whatever you throw at it. The problem comes in when I’m trying to export OUT, because the other programs don’t like it. Like I’ve got to get my audio post engineer this AAF for ProTools out with X2Pro. X2Pro doesn’t support this "retiming" that FCPX does and spits out warnings for non-conformance. What to do? Change all the clips to 23.98 or change all the clips to 24p, or is there some other better/easier way to get that audio (with syncing video) out to ProTools?

Has anyone heard any rumors of a new Final Cut Studio coming out? It feels like there should be a new one coming out soon... I'm afraid that if I buy it now they'll announce some release or something like that this June.
I have Studio 1, and would like to "upgrade" (I can't legally because I have the student version), but it's no big deal for me to wait.
I bought a copy of this on eBay and most of the CD's are not the latest versions. For example, I have Final Cut 5.1, SoundTrack 1.1, etc. The box shows the latest versions on the cover but the CD's say otherwise.
The seller said those are the version Apple shipped him in Sept 07. Is it possible that Apple included older versions of the software for the academic version or is he ripping me off?

I'm not sure if i'm missing something here. the installation went fine with a reboot. I tried re installing which also seemed like it happened without any problems but no traces of motion.

I need something portable so I can take the projects I'll be working on along with me and due to financial reasons, I neither want the 17" or the 15" (2.8 GHz) MBP. I have a 1TB Firewire 800 WD external HDD, so I'm not worried about space. What I am worried about is rendering speed and such. So, my questions are:
1. Is this MBP sufficient enough to run FCS2?
2. Should I keep this same MBP but upgrade to the 7200rpm drive?
3. Should I pony up another $300+ and get the 2.66GHz MBP with the 7200rpm drive?
4. Taking into account what I've said, what is my best configuration to run the FCS2 suite?
My old Mac drive died and bought a Air. Trying to install Final Cut but bumping into error on trying to install Studio. I have an upgrade to Pro but I have been told that I need to install Studio first. I have all the original disks.

View 5 Replies View RelatedYesterday I tried to begin a capture of material for a new project. After repeated attempts to reboot, examined all connections, I decided the RS-232 cable must have gone bad. Drove 140 RT to replace it. This morning I did and found no difference.
My next step was to upgrade the firmware on the Kona 3 board and did so. Ran Aja VTR Xchange - beautiful picture and synched time code but the one box says " NO VTR connected".....
Decided to try running FCP and open the Log and Capture window to see what it said. Same thing. Nice picture SMPTE time code appears to be fine- "No Communication". So ...
Now I am down to the deck controls and some hidden internal settings having changed somehow, or continued software incompatibility.
I have had splendid synchronization between all of these devices.

It seems that one minute FCP setting is off now. I've gone through the Audio/ Video settings and will return to all the preferences settings.
